Wali Lundy Superstar (1 Viewer)

Have any of you actually SEEN Lundy play? Or, are you just going off of gamecenter recaps?
Seriously. I've seen this guy play a ton of games in college, and never once did I think he was starting RB in the NFL potential. Obviously I could be wrong, but he's a slow, lumbering back who has decent vision but can't seperate from defenders in the open field. Good luck with that Houston.

:goodposting: I've never seen so many people get excited over a rb who in his senior season only ran for 600 yards at a pedestrian 4.0 avg per carry.

But, all this talk about 1000 yards? Christ. I'll put up $1000 to anyone who seriously thinks he can eclipse 1000 yards. And, when he doesn't, you agree to retire your avatar and FBG id, opting instead for an alias that'll be in the 30,000 range when all is said and done. I am that convinced that he is that ordinary a RB.
In. Please paypal the $1000 to Rudnicki to hold. I'll give him the keys to my avatar and ID.

-- Lundy Named Starter, But... --

Thu Sep 7, 2006 --from FFMastermind.com

The Houston Chronicle reports Texans rookie RB Wali Lundy will start in the backfield Sunday with veteran FB Jameel Cook. "That'll be the two starters," HC Gary Kubiak said. "Of course, (Vernand) Morency is going to play a great deal. Lundy and Morency are basically going to split time, with Wali probably playing a bit more."

At this point Lundy is a pipe dream for people who had bad drafts.
 Lundy is a type of player that you draft as a backup knowing that he has more potential upside than the other RBs left on the board.
3 weeks ago, now he's going as a starting RB in drafts.
To idiots that drafted JJ Arington and Benson last year.
Benson is'nt even comparable to the other RB's discussed in this post.

Just as you shouldn't get TOO excited about any player after one week, you shouldn't totally sell out on a player after one week.

The running game sucked - Lundy had only 11 carries - Philly's D appears ready to regain its place as a top-5 D in the NFC - they look fierce this year.

If he eventually gets a start I wonder how many

"Ron Dayne Superstar, Come-back player of the Year" threads we are gonna see on this board.

Kill Me

Fantasy owners have a long history of annointing the successors of productive backs as being superstars themselves.

Just because Dominick Davis put up big fantasy numbers, does not mean that any old shmoe that they plug in will also do well.

Just ask Troy Hambrick.

I never saw him in college--only preseason. And, this was after the WL Bandwagon got some momentum. But, he is slow and, in your words, "lumbering." He doesn't break many tackles, either, to go along with his lack of speed.

Demeco Ryans took his first step as expected towards ROY. He, Greenwood and Dunta are the only guys on the Texans who seem able to get to the ball carrier and actually tackle them.

I moved away from Houston this year, so I have not been able to keep up with the Texans radio as much as I did in the past.

How did Lundy and Morency look? I know Phili's D dominated. But did either back show any flashes?

maybe Domanick Davis wasn't "only a bit above an average" NFL-RB after all...

The offensive line looked bad, they opened no holes for the running game and were abused by blitzers most of the game. I'm hoping it has more to do with how good the Eagles defense is, but I'd be worried if you were counting on a Texans RB contributing to your team this year.

Well actually I have Lundy and Morency on my bench - for emergency use only or for trade. However, if the running games looks this bad, I sure don't want to carry both of them. Did one look less bad? Or is the "star" RB in Houston still up for grabs?

They both looked pretty bad, but wait a week or two. ;)Huckyoda, you should take your name off of the thread or at least change the name of it. it's hilarious.

It's week one...wait 2 more weeks then we will have a true sample.

I expect Lundy and Morency to have better games the next 2 weeks. If they don't they will be waiver wire material in 10 team leagues. And gathering dust on 12 team league's bench's. I have Lundy as an RB3 in one Dynasty that we can start 3 so I hope there is an improvement

I would say neither distinguished each other so it's up for grabs. One thing that worries me from a fantasy standpoint is it looked very much like RBBC. It's a small sample size (only 16 carries total) and its hard to say if they were rotating the guys out in order to see if one would have better success, but Morency was definitely involved.I never saw Dayne take the field, but might of missed him since I was there in person. Houston went for it on 4&1 in the first drive and converted on a Carr keeper, so whether Dayne will be a short-yardage back is likely still a question mark.

I will take that wager.Ordinary RBs can run for 1000 yards if they get enough carries.
Wait. You put up $1000 that Lundy will NOT run for 1000 yards? All anyone has to put up is an avatar and FBG id??? That sounds like a pretty good deal. If 10 guys take you up on that bet and Lundy runs for 1000 yards I'm thinking it might be YOUR id that would retire.
I accept that too!
i'll go ahead and accept too if it's not too late.
Count me in.
Suckers.

Yeah, and I'm sure you were going to pay each of us $1000 if he ended up going for 1k yards. I'm totally going to retire this id though.

There wasn't even a remote possibility that Lundy was going to cobble together a 1000-yd season, so it didn't concern me. But, for keeping your end of the bargain.

Lundy bandwagon now reloading... :DBlogger:

Texans To Increase RB Lundy's Role In OffenseHoustonTexans.comHouston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said on Monday that the team will look to get running back Wali Lundy more involved in the offense in coming weeks. "I think (RB) Wali (Lundy) can handle it. He’s not playing because I don’t think he can handle it. I think we had a couple of good guys that we needed to take a look at, but it is obvious right now that we have to give the kid a chance to come back and play some more. He’s been working hard, and he’ll get that opportunity," Kubiak said.

The parts the Blogger left out;
Despite being inactive for the past three games, rookie running back Wali Lundy might return Sunday against Jacksonville. Lundy started the first two games before being replaced by veterans Ron Dayne and Samkon Gado.

With Dayne and Gado struggling, coach Gary Kubiak said Lundy will get another chance. He's expected to get an opportunity as a punt returner after Phillip Buchanon was placed on waivers Monday.
www.chron.comThe article also references a knee injury to Dayne.

He wouldn't have because he wasn't going to lose the bet.He could have bet $10M and it still would have been a full-proof bet. What's it matter. If I said "I bet you $10M you can't fly, and if you can't you owe me a diet coke."Sure that bet is lopsided, but at the end of the day you'll owe me a diet coke.Don't be foolish next time, and get a new ID.You got called out, then owned. Fess up.

The *one* good thing going for Wali Lundy is that he's missed a rough stretch - WAS, MIA, BYE week, @DAL, and then JAX. There are some rough matchups left, but also: @TEN, BUF, @NYJ, @OAK, TEN, IND.

Is it *possible* that the HOU RB will be worthy of a play any of those weeks? How bad is the o-line, and how much of the HORRIBLE RB play has been HOU leaving the running game almost instantly?

I think it's possible, but I'm not sure that it's likely. The Texans are a team I like to root for each week, but I think that since the inception of the new offensive system, since Carr can finally do what he's been capable of all this time, that they just don't care to struggle to run the ball.

I thought this thread was just stupid preseason hype on another lousy RB - little did I realize the bet contained within!

Will there be an official retirement ceremony?

has gado really been given a shot?

shoudn't he be given a chance to at least start a game?

he looked ok in the passing game last week. maybe if he is given a chance to "lather himself up" he would be doing decently also.

+ In case you havent realized it yet Gado is worthless.

Perfect. Thank you Kubiak. Nothing like a little Lundy revival to call out the FBGs who wagered their IDs on the prospect of a 1000-yard rushing season.

Only 943 yards to go. And 11 weeks to do it. That's only an average of 85-86 per game. Should be no problem for the Superstar!

Anyone not willing to bet an internet ID and avatar for $1000 on the slight chance that a rookie running back could catch fire is a fool. Hell, I'll throw in an alias for another grand if he's willing.

:lmao: Props to calling the Lundy bandwagon for what it was, hype. For the record though, I never accepted the bet. I pointed out that it sounded like a pretty good bet (betting a messageboard ID against $1000) but if a bunch of people took the bet and you lost, it would be more likely that your ID would "retire". That <> accepting a bet.
