Wallace or Hines (1 Viewer)

I didn't watch the game yesterday but we had our first look at the Pitt passing offense with Ben back. How did it shake out? Which one looks to be the his favorite?

Most weeks, Hines will lead the WR corps in targets and be looked for shorter completions that move the chains and -- along with Heath Miller -- get more looks inside the 10-yard line for TDs. Wallace is going to get a couple of super deep balls and another 3-4 medium-range targets. For now, I don't see MW getting many short passes.

Targets 10/17 vs. Cleveland: 8 to Ward (5-54, TD), 6 to Wallace (3-90, TD), 4 to Miller (2-50, TD), 5 to others

I'd expect yesterday's stats to be fairly typical of what you're going to see with the Steelers the rest of the season, although not a TD per game per player. Also, I'd expect the yardage of Ward and Wallace to be more similar, but when Ben hits Wallace for a 50-yard bomb, that's what will happen.

On a per game basis, my expectations:

Ward: 5 receptions, 65 yards, 0.5 TDs per game (roughly his career average with Ben as a QB

Wallace: 3.5 receptions, 60 yards, 0.4 TDs per game

Miller: 3.5 receptions, 45 yards, 0.4 TDs per game

The Steelers would love to throw as infrequently as they did yesterday, and the offensive line is surprisingly improved. However, every team is not the Browns with a rookie first-start QB. And even while the Steelers ran more than they passed yesterday, they still had good passing numbers for each of their principal components in the passing game.

Anyone think Wallace is a sell high now? People have been waiting to see what he's all about and a good game against Cleveland has shot his value up a good amt. I can see him bringing in a borderline RB2 like Torain or a buy low WR like Colston.

Wallace seems a bit too "Greg Jennings like" for me. All or nothing kinda of guy.But I could be wrong.
I can agree to that characterization to a large degree, but that's not all bad. Wallace blowing up can go a long way toward helping your team win a H2H matchup, especially if he's a WR3 in your lineup. If you think he's inconsistent, perhaps he's more valuable in your lineup when you're facing an opponent you consider to be the favorite. In any case, let's see how this season progresses before any conclusions are drawn.Personally, I will suggest Wallace may have more consistency than expected this season. As a 3rd WR in the Steelers lineup last year, he wasn't involved in as many plays as he should be now as the Steelers #2 WR.I think Jennings is going to stabilize a lot more now with the injury to Finley, but in comparing GB to PITT, the Steelers are currently more effective and definitely more committed to running the ball than GB. In addition, the Steelers defense is stifling so far this year. I believe both factors help improve the odds of hitting on deep passes, which of course are Wallace's specialty. Teams that are forced to play the run and are behind in games are more vulnerable to the deep pass than when those situations are reversed.Bottom line: I have a hard time finding 15 receivers I like more than Wallace in most formats, save obviously PPR due to his scarce number of catches.

Wallace is going to be very good for a long time. It's amazing the fact that he is still learning the position essentially.
