Hi Jeff,I'm currently rolling out Randy Moss, Chad Ochocinco, and Santana Moss in my PPR league for opening week but i'm having some doubts with S. Moss going up against the Giants D not to mention his wild scoring inconsistency. I currently have Chris Henry and Lance Moore as "viable" fallback options. Would you consider moving one of those two guys into the starting lineup or just stick with Moss for week 1 and see where it goes? Thank you!
I am a huge Santana fan, especially as a WR3. But, I agree with you on this week's matchup. I think I would roll with Moore, even Henry. Both should have a better shot at outscoring Moss. I do expect Henry to be as inconsistent as Moss from week to week, but he has a good matchup ... and so does Moore.

Hey Jeff, PPR redraft, start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2WR, 1 RB/WR/TE, 1 K, 1 DEF.

Trying to finalize my roster before week 1 begins. Basically, I'm wondering if I should pickup either Jermichael Finley, Jamaal Charles, or Troy Williamson and drop either of the bolded people below.

What do you think is the best combo of guys to keep? Thanks!!

Palmer

Garrard

McFadden

Rice

Larry Johnson

Tim Hightower

James Davis

Michael Bush

John Carlson

Andre Johnson

Randy Moss

Marques Colston

Desean Jackson

Chris Henry

N.Rackers

You have a good team. As much as I would want Charles to back up LJ, I think Hightower, Davis, and Bush are in for bigger years. If I was to drop one (just for the sake of insurance), it would be Bush given the state of the Raiders. I think Davis and Hightower could be legit RB starters some weeks. Bush vs Charles is close, so I can understand wanting the handcuff ... even though you would be losing McFadden's handcuff. That is very close for me. Since you have a good TE, I would not sweat Finley and I would want no part of Williamson.

Good luck.

Jeff,

I am in another 14-team ppr redraft league. In this league we start 1 QB, 2 RBS, 2 WRs, 2 WR/RB Flex, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF. There is no restriction on how many positions you can hold. You just can't have more than 16 players. So someone could in theory have 6 QBs for their bench. All TDs = 6 pts, fumbles lost = -3 pts. The scoring also gives big bonuses for hitting milestone marks, see below:

QB:

1 Completion - 0.25 pt

30 yds passing - 1 pt

400 yds passing - 10 pts

450 yds passing - 5 pts

INT - -3 pts

Sacks - -1 pt

RB:

15 yds rushing - 1 pt

120 yds rushing - 10 pts

170 yds rushing - 5 pts

Reception - 1 pt

WR/TE:

20 yds receiving - 1 pt

150 yds receiving - 10 pts

200 yds receiving - 5 pts

Reception - 1 pt

KR/PR

20 yds receiving - 1 pt

150 yds receiving - 10 pts

200 yds receiving - 5 pts

My Team:

QBs: Eli Manning, Shaun Hill

RBs: Bryan Westbrook, Kevin Smith, Leon Washington, Marshawn Lynch, Jamal Charles, Johnathon Stewart

WRS: Calvin Johnson, Desean Jackson, Chris Henry, Percy Harvin, Joshua Cribbs

TE: Brent Celek

DEF: Indy

K: Rackers

Here is what is available in the free agent pool:

QB:

Matt Stafford

Marc Bulger

Mark Sanchez

RB

Mewelde Moore

Chris Brown

Mike Goodson

Patrick Cobbs

WR:

Andre Davis

Derek Stanley

Jeremy Maclin

Dennis Northcutt

Malcom Floyd

TE:

Donald Lee

Martellus Bennett

Brandon Pettigrew

My question is what should I do about Johnathon Stewart?

Do I drop him and pick up Goodson? or Do I pick up Jeremy Maclin or Malcom Floyd? Do I drop him for stafford, giving my 3 QB options? Do I shore up my TE spot with Donald Lee or Martellus Bennett? Or should I just sit tight and hope he is able to get over the achilles heal issue?

With it being a 14 team league, I don't want to carry a dead roster spot all year just to see Stewart not see the field. What would you do Jeff?

Thanks,

-Eric

I would probably look to drop Cribbs for a QB (one of the rookies). Never can have enough depth in a big league. At this point, you can afford to wait on Stewart.

Hi Jeff

I am in a NON-PPR league. Which 2 RB's and which 2 WR's would you start this week?

RB:

Brown @ Atl

Grant vs Chic

Hightower vs SF

WR:

Morgan @Ariz

Rice @ Clev

Burleson vs STL

Meachum vs Det

Clayton vs KC

Also would you drop RB Hightower for RB James Davis who is available on the waiver wire?

Thanks.....

I would keep Hightower for now. The Cleve offense might be ugly in a month. I like Brown this week and I think you have to start Grant even with the bad matchup. At WR, Morgan and Burleson would be my choices. I am not a fan of Rice, Meachem or Clayton unless U see how they will be used. I like Meachem of the group only because he gives you the hope of striking on a long catch for TD.

Hi Jeff,

I have a question for you about my team. I have been offered a trade where i give up LT2 and leinart and would get schaub and greg olsen. My team is weak at qb and te but i'm worried that if i make this trade it will be made more out of fear than need. I do think that schaub and olsen will have good years, but i'm not sure that this trade would "upgrade" my team enough to do it. The draft dominator game by game projection's aren't any different when i change the rosters. So i need an outside honest opinion.

It is a 12 team dynasty league with 20 man active rosters and a 4 man taxi. We start 1qb 2rb 3wr 1te 1k 1d/st and 1 flex any position. Scoring is as follows:

passing yards 1 point=35yds, -2points per int.

rushing/receiving 1point=10yds

all td's 50 yds and under 6pts

any td that is 50 yds or more is 12 points

ppr .75 for rb's 1 for wr's 1.5 for te

my roster

QB-hill,anderson,vick,thigpen, leinart. with quinn and white on taxi

RB-LT2,mjd,grant,norwood. with brandon jackson and moreno on taxi

WR-edwards,marshall,cotchery,hester,hixon

TE-heath miller,scheffler

K-prater,hartley

D/St-sd,nyj

his roster

QB-roethlisberger,schaub,garrard,rosenfels

RB-portis,lynch,grahm

WR-boldin,desean jackson,kevin walter,ginn,steve smith nyg,

galloway. with harvin,heyward-bey and breaston on taxi

TE-gates,olsen,celek with carlson on taxi

K-akers,gould

D/St-chi,tb

I also thought about not making the trade and picking up j finley TE gb and dropping scheffler since i have to many broncos and nobody wants to trade for him. And playing waivers again for a QB, As i will be for another wr or two. eta i could aslo get shockey for a 2nd round pick in 2010

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Personally, I do not like it. I think trading LT is a good move. You have a young team. I would only move him (and not Leinart) if I got back a young RB or WR. Avoid the Shockey deal. Also, I would drop Hartley since he is on suspension and pick up Finley. Hill and Sshaub were close to each other on a per game basis. I would look to build youth at RB/wr first. Look for QB/TE on waivers.

thanks Jeff. Thigpen and Hartley would be the first 2 guys i would drop for waivers on this team. And i will get Finley when our waivers open up. And i have been looking at the waivers for a WR so far the options are troy williamson, laurent robinson, mark clayton, chaz schilens, sidney rice or jordy nelson.

I am also in a PPR league. Which 2 players would you start as flex players this week?

1. Hester (WR) @ GB

2. McCoy (RB) @ Car

3. Washington (RB) @ Hous

4. Morgan (WR)@ Ariz

5. Celek (TE) @ Car

6. Hixon (WR) vs Was

7. Bell (RB) @ Det

Thanks....

Leon would be my top choice. Hester vs Hixon vs Bell vs Morgan is a tough one. I think it comes down to Hixon or Hester. Never know which will have the big game. Since I expect the Bears to be in a shootout, I would lean toward Hester ever so slightly. By the way, I like Bell this week, but it is difficult to tell what his role might be.

Hey Jeff,

Non PPR league, 10 yds=1pt, TDs=6

I need to start one of these RBs, and one WR:

Larry Johnson, Donald Brown, or Graham (leaning towards LJ because he's a starter)

Hixon, Galloway, Bennett, or Williamson (leaning towards Hixon as of now)

Thanks in advance for your input.

I agree on LJ and Hixon. Each has a tough matchup, but are the best options.

Hi Jeff,

I am in a ppr league and can start 3 wrs. I have obvious choices with Andre Johnson and Steve Smith. For my third wr I have Eddie Royal,Anthony Gonzalez and Derrick Mason. I am leaning toward Royal but what do you think. Thanks for your help.

Some good choices. I think I would go with Mason or Royal. That is a tough one. I think I would lean toward Royal as well.

i play in a ppr league where we start 3 wr. percy harvin is on the waiver wire, should i drop a guy like hixon or celek who are bothe bench players to pick up a guy like harvin whos has more upside?

also i have a possible trade where i would jettison matt ryan and either rice or felix jones and in return i would get aaron rodgers?

should i do it?

It is a reasonably fair offer for you, but I do not like it for you. I would keep your deep RBs and Ryan is plenty good enough

Jeff - Thanks for what you do. If you have the time, I have a QB question.

12-team NON-ppr redraft league. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 WR/RB Flex, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF. 16 player roster.

Passing TDs = 4 pts, all others 6 pts. 1 pt for 10 yards rushing and receiving.

My Team:

QB: Garrard, Shaun Hill, Leinart

RB: Adrian Peterson, Ronnie Brown, Addai, Lynch, Chester Taylor

WR: Roddy White, Braylon Edwards, Berrian, Schilens

TE: Zach Miller

DEF: Phil, GB

K: Elam

I’m weak at QB so I’m thinking about:

1. Dropping Leinart for Pennington (Mia) for week 1 @ Cleveland

2. Dropping Pennington for Quinn (Cle) for wk 2 @ Denver

3. Dropping Quinn for Russell (Oak) for wk 3 @ Denver

4. Playing Shaun Hill wks 4 and 5 at home vs St. Louis and Atlanta.

I chose to wait at QB for Schaub and he was taken the pick before mine. I grabbed Garrard, thought Shaun Hill in the NFC West might be worth gambling on, and then got Leinart with my last pick in case Warner couldn’t go. But now it doesn’t look so good.

Starting QBs on the waiver list are Pennington, Quinn, Russell, Stafford, Bulger, Leftwich, and Collins.

Question 1: Is my “QB plan” of using QBs playing against potentially weak defenses reasonable in the short term?

Other options:

• bite the bullet and start Garrard or Hill each week

• pick up someone like Stafford who may be throwing it all day if the Lions have to play from behind

• For week 1, Pennington seems to be projected ahead of the other guys.

• For weeks 2 and 3 we don’t know how Denver’s defense will play yet, or anyone else’s, so it’s a shot in the dark this early in the season.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Ok Jeff here we go WEEK 1 WDIS????

PPR LEAGUE -----

QB (1)

Peyton v JAX ( :P can't believe he is mine)

Matt Ryan v MIA

RB (2)

APeterson @ CLE

Chris Johnson @ PITT ( concerned about Steelers DEF)

Reggie Bush v DET (No PThomas, Reggie is supposed to be @ 100% - PPR League playing against BREES)

KMoreno @ CIN

**Drop Moreno for Mike Bell and sit Reggie Bush for Mike to avoid Bush & Thomas??????

WR (3)

Calvin Johnson @ NO

Roddy White v MIA

J Cotchery @ HOU

D Mason v KC

D Hixon v WAS

**Who do you like this week to be a nice sleeper? Would any be worth dropping Hixon and starting that guy over any of my top 4?

TE (1)

O Daniels v NYJ

Celek @ CAR

K---Going to need to cut the one I won't use this week....I have to lose a player, a kicker

Ryan Longwell @ CLE

J Carney v DET

DEF

Vikings @ CLE

I won't drop the Vikes D but I can drop Celek and pick up another Defense for the week.

The Saints are there and I know I'm a homer but it is Detroit in the Dome with Stafford, what do you think?

There are a lot of defenses out there, is there someone you like better than these 2 as a surprise this week, maybe ARIZONA v SF

MY OPPONENT

Drew Brees

BJacobs/LWashington

Welker/Royal/Harvin

Gonzo

Kris Brown

Giants

How do you like my chances???

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR TEAMS THIS WEEK!!!

THANKS AGAIN JEFF!

Jeff – A follow-up WR question.

12-team NON-ppr redraft league. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 WR/RB Flex, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF. 16 player roster.

Passing TDs = 4 pts, all others 6 pts. 1 pt for 10 yards rushing and receiving.

My Team:

QB: Garrard, Leinart, Shaun Hill

RB: AP, Ronnie Brown, Addai, Lynch, Chester Taylor

WR: Roddy White, Braylon Edwards, Berrian, Schilens

TE: Zach Miller

DEF: Phil, GB

K: Elam

I know this is pretty long range, but I’ve gotten myself into a bit of a pickle with my week 9 byes. That week I lose

• Edwards

• Berrian

• Schilens

• AP

• Chet

• Marshawn

• Zach Miller

I’ll play Ronnie Brown, Addai, and Roddy White, but need to find 3 more players! Sheesh!

I considered dropping Schilens right now for Michael Jenkins (Atl/4), pretty much the top WR on our waiver wire, but in another of your replies I noticed that you like Schilens, and figure he might be a fantasy starter by mid season.

Other WW options are Sidney Rice (Min/9 – no bye help), Isaac Bruce (SF/6), Mark Clayton (Bal/7), Joey Galloway (NE/8), and Mark Bradley (KC/8).

Since it’s so far away I’m inclined to just sit tight and see what develops, especially if you think Schilens is worth hanging onto. If he pans out, I could potentially find a trade that swapped him for a comparable WR with another bye week. I’d still have some problems week 9, but with a WR position resolved, I could handle that.

Any early season suggestions? Thanks again.

Hi Jeff,

Itching to kick off the new year.

Standard scoring league:

1. Is Bowe worthy of a start this week on the road @BAL, or should I look at my other options: Edwards (vs. MIN, another tricky matchup and QB situation) or Berrian (@CLE, still gimpy)?

2. Also, with Thomas seemingly out for NO, is Mike Bell worth taking a one-week flyer off the WW (vs. DET) given the great matchup? My current RB2 is Ronnie Brown (@ATL).

Standard scoring, plus 1/25 return yards:

1. Which Jones will have the better week? Thomas (@HOU), Felix (@TB), or Julius (vs. STL)? (Yeah, I have all three, plus Maurice Jones-Drew).

2. Finally, should I play VJax (@OAK) given that Asomugha is playing or should I plug in AGonzalez (vs. JAX) at WR2? I already have Wayne starting at WR1.

Thanks a bunch!

Ok Jeff here we go WEEK 1 WDIS????

PPR LEAGUE -----

QB (1)

Peyton v JAX ( can't believe he is mine)

Matt Ryan v MIA

Peyton every week

No way. Keep Moreno. Bush should be a great PPR play this week

WR (3)

Calvin Johnson @ NO

Roddy White v MIA

J Cotchery @ HOU

D Mason v KC

D Hixon v WAS

I would keep Hixon and start the WRs in order you have them. As you would expect, the only WR I would drop Hixon for is Avery

**Who do you like this week to be a nice sleeper? Would any be worth dropping Hixon and starting that guy over any of my top 4?

TE (1)

O Daniels v NYJ

Celek @ CAR

Play OD most weeks

K---Going to need to cut the one I won't use this week....I have to lose a player, a kicker

Ryan Longwell @ CLE

J Carney v DET

Carney

DEF

Vikings @ CLE

I won't drop the Vikes D but I can drop Celek and pick up another Defense for the week.

The Saints are there and I know I'm a homer but it is Detroit in the Dome with Stafford, what do you think?

I think Minny is a great start most weeks. Keep Celek for now.

There are a lot of defenses out there, is there someone you like better than these 2 as a surprise this week, maybe ARIZONA v SF

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MY OPPONENT

Drew Brees

BJacobs/LWashington

Welker/Royal/Harvin

Gonzo

Kris Brown

Giants

How do you like my chances???

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR TEAMS THIS WEEK!!!

THANKS AGAIN JEFF!
You should have a great shot at winning this week. Good luck to you

Hi Jeff,

Itching to kick off the new year.

Standard scoring league:

1. Is Bowe worthy of a start this week on the road @BAL, or should I look at my other options: Edwards (vs. MIN, another tricky matchup and QB situation) or Berrian (@CLE, still gimpy)? I know Bowe has a tough matchup, but they should be throwing a ton in catchup mode. Edwards is a good play. Minny secondary is not strong. Stay away from Berrian with his injury.

2. Also, with Thomas seemingly out for NO, is Mike Bell worth taking a one-week flyer (vs. DET) given the great matchup? My current RB2 is Ronnie Brown (@ATL). I do like Bell, but Brown is the better start this week

Standard scoring, plus 1/25 return yards:

1. Which Jones will have the better week? Thomas (@HOU), Felix (@TB), or Julius (vs. STL)? (Yeah, I have all three, plus Maurice Jones-Drew). I would say Thomas Jones this week. Yes, Felix could have a decent game, but could also be a clunker. Odds are on TJ's side.

2. Finally, should I play VJax (@OAK) given that Asomugha is playing or should I plug in AGonzalez (vs. JAX) at WR2? I already have Wayne starting at WR1. I like VJax more than AG this week I think. Jax game could be a hard fought divisional matchup

Thanks a bunch!
Good luck this week

Jeff - Thanks for what you do. If you have the time, I have a QB question.12-team NON-ppr redraft league. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 WR/RB Flex, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF. 16 player roster. Passing TDs = 4 pts, all others 6 pts. 1 pt for 10 yards rushing and receiving. My Team:QB: Garrard, Shaun Hill, LeinartRB: Adrian Peterson, Ronnie Brown, Addai, Lynch, Chester Taylor WR: Roddy White, Braylon Edwards, Berrian, SchilensTE: Zach Miller DEF: Phil, GBK: ElamI’m weak at QB so I’m thinking about:1. Dropping Leinart for Pennington (Mia) for week 1 @ Cleveland2. Dropping Pennington for Quinn (Cle) for wk 2 @ Denver3. Dropping Quinn for Russell (Oak) for wk 3 @ Denver4. Playing Shaun Hill wks 4 and 5 at home vs St. Louis and Atlanta.I chose to wait at QB for Schaub and he was taken the pick before mine. Other options:• bite the bullet and start Garrard or Hill each week• pick up someone like Stafford who may be throwing it all day if the Lions have to play from behind• For week 1, Pennington seems to be projected ahead of the other guys. • For weeks 2 and 3 we don’t know how Denver’s defense will play yet, or anyone else’s, so it’s a shot in the dark this early in the season.Any suggestions? Thanks!
Keep Garrard, at least for this week. Indy is injured in secondary. Bob Sanders is gimpy. I think Garrard will be at least decent this week. If you are going to drop any of the QBs, drop Hill. I say that because you will rarely start him over Garrard and he has no upside. I say that, but Hill was still a Top 10 QB in most leagues last yr on a per game basis. I would encourage you to hold tight for a week and see what happens. But, keep Leinart, he has upside in the AZ offense.

Jeff – A follow-up WR question.12-team NON-ppr redraft league. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 WR/RB Flex, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF. 16 player roster. Passing TDs = 4 pts, all others 6 pts. 1 pt for 10 yards rushing and receiving. My Team:QB: Garrard, Leinart, Shaun HillRB: AP, Ronnie Brown, Addai, Lynch, Chester Taylor WR: Roddy White, Braylon Edwards, Berrian, SchilensTE: Zach Miller DEF: Phil, GBK: ElamI know this is pretty long range, but I’ve gotten myself into a bit of a pickle with my week 9 byes. That week I lose• Edwards• Berrian• Schilens• AP• Chet• Marshawn• Zach MillerI’ll play Ronnie Brown, Addai, and Roddy White, but need to find 3 more players! Sheesh!I considered dropping Schilens right now for Michael Jenkins (Atl/4), pretty much the top WR on our waiver wire, but in another of your replies I noticed that you like Schilens, and figure he might be a fantasy starter by mid season.Other WW options are Sidney Rice (Min/9 – no bye help), Isaac Bruce (SF/6), Mark Clayton (Bal/7), Joey Galloway (NE/8), and Mark Bradley (KC/8). Since it’s so far away I’m inclined to just sit tight and see what develops, especially if you think Schilens is worth hanging onto. If he pans out, I could potentially find a trade that swapped him for a comparable WR with another bye week. I’d still have some problems week 9, but with a WR position resolved, I could handle that.Any early season suggestions? Thanks again.
I would indeed sit tight. You have plenty of time and much will definitely change over the next two or three weeks. The players you would pick up now will change

I realize this thread is more about strategy than start/sit, but this has been killing me.

#3 WR for week 1-- Lance Moore or Antonio Bryant?

I'm leaning towards Bryant at the moment, but am having a really tough time settling on that decision. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Jeff Which two rb do you like this week

Thomas Jones @ HOU

LJ @ Bal

Knowshon Moreno @ CIN

Tim Hightower ve SF

Chester Taylor @ CEL

Darran Sproles @ OAK

Some STARTING free agent WRs in my ESPN redraft league (non-PPR). Looking for some depth & possible flex play behind TO/Braylon/Earl Bennett/Royal/Camarillo

1. Louis Murphy

2. Troy Williamson

3. Laurent Robinson

4. Sidney Rice

5. Mark Clayton

6. Isaac Bruce

7. Bryant Johnson

I'd have to drop either the TB D/ST or Chargers D/ST, but I don't mind only carrying 1 D / 1 K. Any thoughts? I'm kinda leaning towards Williamson/Robinson based on situation/schedule/etc but Clayton and Bruce have upside as well.

I would lean toward Moore since AB is still gimpy. Plus, Moore has the easier matchup by far.

I am not a Williamson fan at all. I think I would dump TB defense and Camarillo and pick up Robinson and Clayton. Since we are talking about backups, I want ones with a high ceiling. Rice would be third.

Hi Jeff,I am in a ppr league and can start 3 wrs.
Thank You Jeff

Ok Jeff....

Gotta grab one WR for my 3rd slot. Worried about everything I'm reading about Mason/Cotchery/D Hixon.

No worries for obvious reasons about Calvin Johnson & Roddy White.

So here are the guys I am considering once again to take D Hixons slot and possibly start ahead of Mason & Cotchery:

Donnie Avery: I know you love him but Bulger has a hand issue that is still very questionable

Josh Morgan: Still think this is Gore +10

Nate Burleson: I think he has a lot of promise & Branch seems to be having problems...

Earl Bennett: Do I trust the "connection" he had in college with Cutler enough to grab him up?

Joey Galloway: Are there enough balls for him to see some his way? I know Welker is still highly questionable this week.

Please list your top 2, I'll keep it easy (lol) but tell me why you think they will be better options and lastly whether or not you

would start them over D Mason, who I have decided to start over Cotchery (thx to your wisdom)

THANKS! THANKS! THANKS!

I would feel good about starting Cotchery or Mason this week. Avery will have some monster games and is the only legit WR on the team. He has a good shot at a top 20 finsih among wrs. Morgan would be my second choice. He, too, will have some big games. The 49ers have some great matchups coming. Burleson is the third choice.

Jeff,

Am I overthinking my Brandon Jacobs situation this week (seriously considering sitting him)? The Haynesworth addition to that front 4 is really making me nervous.

I am starting Jacobs this week. The NYG have a good OL. They will find a way to get the ball to their best RB, especially with the WRs limited after the Plax issue

Jeff,

My league settings allow me to use Terrell Suggs (vs. KC) as a DL even though he's a LB. Is he worth a start over Jared Allen (@CLE)? Both have great matchups, and I expect Suggs to get a lot of tackles playing as LB.

Tackles/PDs = 1, assisted = 0.5, sacks/FF = 2, INT = 3, TD = 6.

Thanks

Others around here are better at IDPs. I will PM Jene Bramel to stop by. If he is not around, go to IDP asst coach forum. I just want you to get the best answer you can.

Since you're only getting two points per sack vs one per solo tackle, I agree that Suggs is the better play. Both players are solid starts, though.

thank you, Jene. :goodposting:

Follow up to previous post in my non PPR redraft. My WRs are now:

TO, Braylon, Laurent Robinson, Earl Bennett, and Mark Clayton.

Someone just dropped Torry Holt. Worth dropping someone to pick him up, or wait and see?
