Jeff
I almost outscored my 10 man starting lineup with my 8-man bench in week 1. I am in a PPR league with scoring as follows...
3 pts pass TD (3pt bonus for 40+ yard TD pass)
-1 for int
0.5 pt for 10yds
6 pts for ANY rushing or receiving TD (TE,RB,WR,QB) (3pt bonus for 40+ rec or rush TD)
0.1 pt for 1 yard of either rush or rec yard
-2 pts for any lost fumble.
Start 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1OP(QB,RB,WR, or TE), 1D/ST, 1K
Here are my questions...
QB - Roethlisberger, Schaub, Sanchez
Planning on starting Big Ben, I figure he is hot, and Schaub has yet to show me he is my #1 QB.
1) Right?
I like Ben this week. I think he can have another big week.
RB - Chris Johnson, Ronnie Brown, Chester Taylor, Jerious Norwood.
Starting Johnson for sure, but with Ronnie in a timeshare and it being a PPR league, leaning toward starting Taylor as my #2RB.
2) Is that dumb? Am I risking my bench outscoring my starters again by doing this? (I'm a longtime Vikings fan and I think every time they play a weak team and are "supposed" to destroy them, they either don't and it's close or they LOSE - like the Lions game last year - and I have a feeling they will be behind a fair amount of the time and use Taylor as a dump off, TE like option.)
I like Chester, too, this week, but Brown might be the better play this week. They are close enough to go either way.
WR - A. Johnson, D. Bowe, Justin Gage, D. Hester, Donnie Avery, Michael Jenkins, Breaston (dropped Hicks from NYG - he was supposed to be my shark move this year, but I had 8 WR and needed a 2nd TE, and so I picked up Heap)
Starting A. Johnson, D. Bowe - planning on Gage as the #3WR. I figure that Pit makes it hard for Cutler to hit Hester a lot. I guess there is not a question here, just being complete and letting you know about my team, oops.
I live Avery and Gage best of these. I think Gage has a big game. Avery is one of those guys who will explode in the next few weeks ... after recovering from the foot injury.
TE - Gates and Heap
Planning on starting Gates, but my question is 3) is Heap a starter in my OP spot, or is he my #1 TE this week, and make Gates the OP starter?
I would start Gates for sure. You would feel silly sitting him when he goes off.
4) If so, is he going to fare better than Schaub or Ronnie Brown in the OP spot. Part of me in my gut is saying start Sanchez against the Seymour-less Pats as they will be behind and throwing a lot, but then again the Jets are running their mouths off and I think the Pats might just pull another go for 4th down while leading by 56 points kind of a statement. Leaning toward starting Heap as my OP with Ronnie Brown #2 in my mind for now.
I would start a QB in the OP spot. Either Sanchez or Scahub. Both should be better options than Heap or the RB. I think I might go with Schaub.
I tried to not make this a question where some dude like me says, "pick my QB, pick my 2 RB's , pick my 3 WR's, etc".
Thanks for your time and any advice you can give to me.
I'm 0-1 after last week's let down by Schaub, A. Johnson, and my top 2 RB's Johnson and Brown (note to self, don't draft guys in a RBBC setup, its frustrating), so if you have general suggestions or advice to please help a newbie to Fantasy Football out.
Thanks for your time...
Sincerely,
