wannabee Strategy Thread (2 Viewers)

Hey, Jeff.

12 team PPR scoring dynasty league

Start QB / 1-2 RB / 2-3 WR / TE

My roster with who I know I'm starting this week in bold:

QBs: Rivers, Garrard, Freeman

RBs: Chris Johnson, Peterson (Min), Scott

WRs: Boldin, Bowe, Steve Smith (Car), Floyd, Harvin, Holmes, Massaquoi, Schilens

TEs: Witten, Shockey, Cook

Quandry at WR2 this week in my playoff matchup with my options and my thoughts below.

Steve Smith: I love him but but the fantasy gods are really against him and I just don't trust him enough with either Moore or Delhomme to start him.

Harvin: I was ready to plug him him but he seems very questionable again this week.

Holmes: Leaning towards him but the Bengals do a pretty good job against opposing WR1s.

Bowe: I'm intrigued and like his matchup against the Browns pass D, but despite some positive reports from practice this week, I'm concerned about starting him his first week back from suspension.

I'm leaning towards Holmes as the safest start but I'm getting tempted to roll with Bowe.

Thoughts?
I am benching Smith this week. Just seems like he could struggle getting enough catches to have a big upside week. On Bowe, I really do not trust him compared to Harvin and Holmes. I would start Harvin if things look good Sunday. If not, Holmes. Holmes becomes more attractive if Hines Ward is limited or misses the game. Good luck. You have a good team.

Howdy Jeff!

I'm back again for some advice. Thanks again for last week: (f.davis)

[1] How would you rank these RB options (I need to start 2) given the rules:

0.1 pt per 1 yd rush/receive/pass.

10 pt per TD rush/receive.

A lot to choose from as the matchups seem pretty juicy.

Ganther, Quinton RB WAS vs NYG

Jacobs, Brandon RB NYG @WAS

Forsett, Justin RB SEA vs TB

Foster, Arian RB HOU @STL

Jennings, Chris RB CLE @KC

Moats, Ryan RB HOU @STL

Morris, Maurice RB DET vs ARI

[2] Def/ST choice between Ravens vs CHI or Cardinals @DET (Cardinals seem like the logical choice in my mind.)

[3] Just read that T.Owens is sick and is listed as Questionable. Ack! And me with no backup. I would have to drop one of the aforementioned RBs (Moats seems the most logical?) The following are listed at the top ranked FA this week by CBS:

Aromashodu, Devin WR CHI @BAL

Massaquoi, Mohamed WR CLE @KC

Thomas, Devin WR WAS vs NYG

Walter, Kevin WR HOU @STL ((my opponent has Shaub)))

Moss, Santana WR WAS vs NYG

Jenkins, Michael WR ATL @NYJ

Camarillo, Greg WR MIA @TEN

Butler, Deon WR SEA vs TB

Bess, Davone WR MIA @TEN

Floyd, Malcom WR SD vs CIN

Jason Avant is available too vs SF. Or perhaps you have a suggestion of someone who may be flying under the radar.?

ETA: My opponent is not strong (shaub, addai, grant, boldin(this one worries me),meachem,z.miller), so I don't necessarily need a home-run for each position.

Thanks again,

Ben

Brandon Jacobs

Rashard Mendenhall

Reggie Bush

Quinton Ganther

Arian Foster

Steve Smith (CAR)

Steve Smith (NYG)

Hakeem Nicks

Terrell Owens

Also, should I pick up Houston's defense to play in place of Green Bay?

THANKS!

No problem on the questions. Happy to help. I still like DEN def/st I like HOU, too, but DEN should have a good game as well and higher upside. At RB, I would stick with Charles. He has been scoring well and this is a good matchup. I would go with Kaeding. He has been solid all season while the weather is troubling in BUF this week. Good luck.
Thanks, I need it. Facing Brees in both my leagues this week. Our team DEF doesn't score special teams TDs, which does take Denver's Royal out of the picture.

hey jeff

general question.

how badly will this snow effect/affect (missed that grammar class) guys playing in the north?

IE: my whole team. . .Gore, Ray Rice, Roddy White, Randy Moss, D Mason, Jets defense

out of the group id have to imagine the Jets defense are the only ones who benefit.

either way, I pretty much packed it in for the week, going up against Peyton and Reggie. Here's to hoping Kurt Warner has a Super Bowl-like game.

thanks for the help.

Who do you like this week? Matt Schaub @ Rams or Aaron Rodgers @ PITT

1pt/20yds passing, 1pt/10yds rush, 6pts/td's

I've been starting Rodgers, but is Schaub's matchup worthy of a start? Playoff game, so i gotta

make the right choice.

Also, do you like Gore or SJAX? 1pt/10yds rush/rec, 1PPR, 6pts/td's

Gore had a great week last week, but he's at Philly. SJAX has the flu and dealing with a back injury.

Both of these scare me this week. Rice is my other back.

Any feel for Bush vs. PT vs. Wells in a PPR league? They're so close, it's impossible to pick.

Edit - have Foster also, but can't imagine pining my season on him.

Hey, good to have the big game on Thursday night from Manning to start the week. I think you are in good shape. I would start your two stud RBs without question. At WR, I would go with Rice, Meachem and Mason. I would avoid White and Calvin scares me, too. I expect the NO/DAL game to be high scoring. Finley would be my choice at TE as well. Good luck this week and hope to see you back for the Championship game.

Hey Jeff,

I think I need a miracle but I'm still kickin'...

Head to head game this week for last playoff spot, already behind with bad weather/bad matchups ahead. Performance league all TDs 6 pts, no ppr. Start 1QB, 1RB, 1WR, 2 flex, PK, Def team.

Opponent has...

Brees vs Dal (yikes!)

DClark (already has 21 points)

MLynch vs NE

Mason vs Chi

Meacham vs Dal

Hartley vs Dal

Arizona @ Det

My roster looks like this...

QB:

VYoung vs Mia...Questionable...may be my best option, but may not rack up running yards/TDs as he usually does even if he does play...if I gamble and go high risk/high reward, not sure if his upside is good enough...

ASmith @ Phil...tough matchup...lousy weather expected...if I'm looking for upside, he may be better than Young...if he hooks up with VDavis a few times because he can't go deep, I would get 12 pointers...

Cutler @ Balt...he's killed me all year long with inconsistency, and this is a horrible matchup against a tough team in bad weather on the road...however, if I need huge upside, he's got the best chance of keeping pace with Brees...

RB/WR/TE (need to start 4):

APeterson @ Carolina...automatic, of course

FJackson vs NE...splitting carries with Lynch, cold weather may actually help, NE stingy giving up running TDs...

VDavis @ Phil...he can't score every week, and I'm worried he may come up short just when I need him the most...don't see how I can bench him tho..,

Forsett vs TB...splitting carries with JJ, but very good matchup...hoping he gets the lion's share of the touches and scores running and receiving...

Snelling @ NYJ...nah...not with Turner and Norwood both playing, not against the Jets D...

Hester @ Balt...out

Calvin Johnson vs Ariz...questionable, but he'll play...Stafford out Culpepper in which hurts...still may give me decent upside to score a few TDs, although he's fallen way short of his draft position and disappointed all year...

MSW...played Thursday night and I didn't do with him...would have given me 12 points...

PK Tynes @ Wash

Defense GB @ Pitts...not happy about either one of these but there are no better options...

I'm looking to be playing from behind by Sunday, and will probably have to take some chances to pull out this all-important win. As of now, I'm thinking

Young if he plays, Smith if Young is out...AP/ FJax/VDavis/Forsett/Tynes/GB.

Please weigh in and give me any input you think will help me out...I really appreciate it!!!

Thanks, 4ize

Good luck this week. I would go with: VY, the top four. If Calvin plays, I would play him over Forsett. You have a chance.

I think Wells. With Bell back, I have a tough time deciding which RB will produce tonight. Sorry if it is a cop-out, but I just do not have a good feel for the situation. Wells has a better shot at the TDs.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I know it's not over until the fat broad does her thing. I'm gonna see how Brees, Meachem and Hartley do tonite before I see whether I can get a little more conservative tomorrow. Won't be a day for the faint of heart.

I do not have the nerve to suggest both upside RBs (Foster/Forsett) and I like Foster best ... better chance of a TD, imo.

[2] Def/ST choice between Ravens vs CHI or Cardinals @DET (Cardinals seem like the logical choice in my mind.) I like AZ better

[3] Just read that T.Owens is sick and is listed as Questionable. Ack! And me with no backup. I would have to drop one of the aforementioned RBs (Moats seems the most logical?) The following are listed at the top ranked FA this week by CBS:

The NYG secondary is not good ... as evidenced by what DeSean Jackson did last week. I would go with him.

would have said Ward but he seems nicked up. Smith or Jacobs I think ..... leaning toward Jacobs just in case the Giants get a lead. The Minny defense will keep Matt Moore on the run most of the game.

better than 50/50 that is only 4 catches for 48 yds. Davis produced much more than that most weeks.

Jeff, I'm trying to get two players off the waiver wire. I may only be able to get one. Who would you take 1st - F Davis in place of Olsen or PHI for WASH? I'm leaning toward F Davis 1st, since I have CIN def.

2 simple questions...

Favre at Chicago or Vince young vs San diego?

Favre's last 3 games have gotten progressively worse while VY has averaged 21 fantasy pts since week 12.

Second...fred davis vs dallas or brent celek vs denver? its a ppr.

gotta bring home that title!

WE DID IT JEFF!!!! Championship Game!

Here is my Lineup: Ready for your REVIEW & ADVICE!

QB:

Peyton Manning v NYJ (Do you think he'll play! I so need this answer to be YES!)

My Back-Up Options if he doesn't....

Matt Ryan v BUF

Vince Young v SD

Chad Henne v HOU

Alex Smith v DET

RB: (2)

A Peterson @ CHI ( I CANNOT afford another 35-50 yd performance! Is this his bounce back week? Will Farve try to do it all?)

C Johnson v SD ( Huge game, gotta play him but hope VY lets him run and score some TD's as well...right?)

R Williams v HOU ( Has been solid, numbers even a bit better than AP....but I can't sit AP.....can I?)

J Harrison v OAK ( Defensive move here, dropped R Bush to ensure that my opponent didn't grab this guy from no where vs OAK )

WR: (3)

D Mason @ PIT ( Only guy to post SOLID numbers this week )

R Meachem v TB ( My boys should bounce back BIG this week )

S Rice @ CHI ( This is the only guy I need Farve to target, will he bounce back? )

R White v BUF ( Finally, a DEF break, Ryan is back is this his week?)

C Johnson @ SF ( Facing another tough D and still not 100% )

TE: (1)

J Finley v SEA ( Was AMAZING vs PIT this past week )

D Keller @ INDY ( No way I can sit Finley with Rodgers focused on him right? )

K

Championship week...

I lost tast year because I played Shaun Hill over Tyler Thigpen...and this season my RBs are giving me fits.

2 WR

2 RB

1 WR/RB

Marques Colston TB

Sidney Rice CHI

Adrian Peterson CHI

Ryan Grant SEA

Jerome Harrison OAK

Justin Forsett GB

Jason Snelling BUF

Derrick Mason PIT

1/10 rush

1/15 rec

0.5 PPR

Do I start Snelling over one of those guys? (Grant/AD/Harrison)

Hi Jeff, I posted this elsewhere and would like your advice. I want to pick up Harrison this year so I can see what his situation is next year and then decide if I want to keep him. Here is my post.

"Jerome Harrison is somehow still on waivers in my league. I have first dibs so...Who would drop to pick him up, or would you pass. I don't have to trim down to 15 keepers until beginning of August.

8 teams, close to FBG standard scoring, 15 keepers/25 roster spots

QB P Manning

RB SJAX, Turner, RBrown, KSmith, Lynch, FJAX, Greene, LWashington

WR Welker, 85, Jennings, Holmes, MSW, Edwards, Breaston, Avery

TE Daniels, Finley, Heath Miller

K Kaeding

D Pitt, NO, GB, and SF

I could cut a defense, but I like to have options for next year. Def scores a lot in my league. However, I guess one isn't more likely than another to be ranked higher next year and they have less trade value in the off season. I will keep a lot of rbs prob 7. Wrs? I am not so sure. Edwards and Avery seem likely canidates, but they too may have some trade value(picks) Heck, I guess I should just cut a defense? "

I am now leaning towards dropping H. Miller. What is Daniels value next year, should I just drop him? Oh yea, just found FDavis is available, what do you think his situation will be with Cooley next year?

Sorry about all the questions.

Thanks

Jeff one more i need to make room for F Davis this week ? F davis vs DALWho do i dropG Olsen vs MINP GarrconJ MaclinI what to drop Olsen what do yo thinkthe guy i am playing has Celek and Witten and Shiancoe so he does not need a TE
dump Olsen. You cannot start him with the way Cutler is playing. Good luck in the title game
Jeff, I'm trying to get two players off the waiver wire. I may only be able to get one. Who would you take 1st - F Davis in place of Olsen or PHI for WASH? I'm leaning toward F Davis 1st, since I have CIN def.
I agree. I like Davis a lot.

Hey Jeff....Made it to the big game (not sure how, but..) (Nonppr,10 yds rec/rush=1pt, 25 yds ret=1pt, all tds 6 pts)

RB(need 2): P Thomas, Ganther, MBIII, Lynch (also trying to p/u Bush or M Morris).

Leaning towards PT and Barber because of matchup for PT and I thinks MBIII is back.

WR3 (need 1 as starting Ocho and Marshall): Collie, Avery, Morgan,or Bess.

I think Morgan has a chance for a huge week so leaning there.

Just FYI, the rest of my lineup is Schaub, Celek, Hartley(over Tynes), and Minn D. I'm a bit of an underdog, but that's how I like it.

Thanks for all the help this season!

2 simple questions... Favre at Chicago or Vince young vs San diego? Favre's last 3 games have gotten progressively worse while VY has averaged 21 fantasy pts since week 12. Second...fred davis vs dallas or brent celek vs denver? its a ppr.gotta bring home that title!
VY and celek .. good luck

D Keller @ INDY ( No way I can sit Finley with Rodgers focused on him right? )

K

Hartley v TB ( The Saints will be back on track this week....I'm going to stick with him unless you tell me otherwise )

DEF

Vikings @ CHI ( MNF, put to shame by the Panthers & lost a critical game-the Bears & Cutler are going to pay...right? )

I think i would go with VY, Peterson, CJohnson, and Finley, Hartley, and Minny. The WRs are tough. I would start Rice, Meachem, and White. The three with the big upside. Good luck this week and congrats making it this far.

Forsett vs Harrison is the only close one. I would not touch Snelling over those. But, I would still go with Harrison. Good luck this week.

Drop the SF defense. There will be few weeks you would start them over the others. I would definitely pick up Harrison

Congrats on making it this far. I would also go with PT and MB3. I think I would go with Collie assuming the Colts rest their starters. He has scored a few weeks in a row now. Good luck. I am not that big fan of MoMo every week. You have a chance. Good luck.
