I'm sure there's something you've always wondered about or maybe something you just don't understand. The FFA has a great pool of people with different professions and who have knowledge of all sorts of things.

I'm sure this thread will turn schticky very quickly but please feel free to ask honest, serious questions.

I'll start....

How does the bond system work when you're arrested? How do bondsmen play a part? Of I post bond, do I eventually get that money back once my trial is finished? Is it essentially just collateral for my freedom?

You'd post cash bail (although some places will take a lien on real property) and you would get this back, minus a nominal fee after the trial.

Bond through a bondsman is different. You pay (generally 10%, though some places are up to 15%) of the bond to a bondman and you don't get this money back. The bondsman then places the bond with the court. The money you pay the bondsman is gone as the price of the collateral the bondsman put up for you.

The bondsman lobby is much stronger than you'd think and is generally viewed as one of the reasons why we have so many folks stuck in jail. The number of crimes for which bond is now given (instead of personal recognizance or an appearance ticket) is much higher than in the past, generally because of bondsman lobbying.

Awesome. Thanks!

Got a landline phone thing at work. It has basically rendered one line useless. It is an auto call. If you pick up nothing is there, when you hang up it calls right back, it will not stop, been going on for days. Phone company says call the FCC. We do not have caller id on this and can't get on the line to *69 so have no idea what the number is. Also, been getting a lot more spam that usually how do you handle that?

Rick Roll?

How do vegetarians and vegans get enough protein in their diet? I would think that beans, tofu, milk, etc. only go so far.

Also regarding protein, what happens if you eat too much protein? Can it do your body harm? Does your body just pee/poop the excess out?

How do I baby proof a Dishwasher and Oven? Neither have locks on their doors to keep them from being opened. They have locks on the control pad to keep errant buttons from being pressed, but not from a door being opened.

Thoughts?

It's really not very difficult for veggie-ists to get adequate protein, on the one hand because you simply don't need all that much of it (~50g for a typically active adult, maybe 50% more for an athlete), and the various plant/legume/nut/seed/etc. sources can provide that pretty easily.

On the other hand, it's much harder to make sure you're getting your full complement of amino acids if you're relying on mostly plant proteins. That's not a consideration most carnivores have, since those proteins tend to be more complete in that respect -- so that if you're getting adequate protein, you're getting plenty of the right aminos as well. Vegetarians and vegans are best served by being sure to get their proteins from a variety of sources each day, and/or being sure to get a boost from the few plant proteins (e.g., spirulina) that are also considered pretty "complete."

And yes, too much protein has been linked to a number of health problems.

The oven one is a 3 star product.. that means it sucks

The dishwasher one won't work for me... my dishwasher isn't on an edge like that

Coleophora subparcella is a moth of the Coleophoridae family. It is found in Afghanistan and Turkestan. The larvae feed on Artemisia turanica. They create a leafy case, consisting of masticated apices of individual leaf blades arranged in an imbricate pattern on the upper and lower sides. The valve is two-sided. The length of the case is 6-6.5 mm and it is yellowish-chocolate-brown in color. Larvae can be found from the beginning of June and (after diapause) from April to May.

Actually, now that I think about it, the last oven I had with electric keypad had a button that would lock the door. Yours doesn't have that?

For the dishwasher, might be able to rig some type of cabinet latch.

Vegetarian here. Protein is overrated. B12 is something to worry more about, but I don't bother with any of it, and just devour pasta on a daily basis.

Is it the same number or same array of numbers? If so, your service provider can very likely block the numbers. Is the number essential too? Or is it part of a hunt group? Can you simply replace the line with a new number and pay a little more for privacy features from your provider? Just a couple of thoughts.

does your dishwaster have a latch you have to push to be able to open the door under the handle? if so, i cant imagine a baby being able to open it. i have 2 kids. the 4 year old cant work the latch. i think you are safe there, tbh.

Depending on the layout of the kitchen, baby gate the kitchen.

Or, maybe super glue on some strong magnets that a kid couldnt pull apart? Random idea.

Yes, that sounds much healthier than eating an omnivorous diet. :loco:
I'm not a vegetarian for health reasons.
Ok. I'll bite. Why are you a vegetarian then?
I'm not fishing, but vegetarians are vegetarian generally because of one of or a combination of three reasons: health reasons, animal rights reasons, or environmental reasons. The second plus the latter is why I'm a vegetarian.

Why do we drive on a Parkway and park on a driveway?

What's the best replacement for my kids' torn trampoline net?

Why hasn't Puerto Rico become a state yet?

Protein is absolutely NOT overrated BTW. Too much is, yes. It's expensive urine.

For people in serious training the best way to absorb protein is small amounts like 10 times throughout the day, which is what the top athletes do including before, during, and after workouts, and right before bed. Your body is only efficient enough to to use a certain amount in a given time frame, or else it just gets voided into the ol toilet.

But yes, too much is not good at all for your vital organs. it makes them work way too hard.

I have no idea how a TV works. I see cables (sometimes not even cables) and plugs, and a box, and a magic picture appears on the screen. Frankly it just makes no sense to me that it is able to do what it does. It's ####### amazing. It's like magic.

1. Google.

2. Another net?

3. Only room for one island state in this here country?

Animals don't have rights. HTH
Depends on what you mean by "right." One could define a "right" as the legal protection against harm. If one so choose to do that, then in many cases certain classes of animals do have rights. But when I talk about animal rights I look at it from a philosophical viewpoint.

neither the dishwasher nor oven have lock buttons or latches.

I'm used to ovens having those, my 2012 model didn't

Dishwasher is only 4 years old as well... again no latch to lock the door.

I'm pretty shocked this isn't a built in feature to be honest

That's about enough protein for a 5' 0" 100 pound girl.

Not everyone can know what they're talking about.

Good luck all the same.

About a half-gram of protein per pound of body weight is a solid target for active adult men.

We had the oven one and it worked just fine. You have to adhere it to the door. I'm guessing most bad reviews, as with most products, is related to it inability to properly read directions.

:goodposting: That was my guess as well. Plus it was cheap, so I thought it would be right up Dentist's alley

If you're concerned about animal rights and environmental reasons then going vegetarian isn't helping your cause, it's burying your head in the sand. Instead of discontinuing meat altogether IMO you should find and invest in farmers that practice sustainable livestock and land management (Joel Salatin is a good example). Witholding your money from companies that don't operate the way you like has very little effect. If you truly want to make a difference you should spend your dollars supporting their direct competition who does it the right way. Plus the benefit is you get to eat wonderful, delicious, healthy meat.

I like the idea that the author of "Year of the Cow" had - buy an entire cow from a trusted farm and respect the animal by using all of it yourself.

Story on NPR.

That is one way to go for certain, but that doesn't mean what I'm doing helps/doesn't help. Also, I did not choose to be a vegetarian to support some kind of cause - it was a deeply thought out choice that reflected my personal and philosophical beliefs. I won't eat meat regardless of whether it's from a big production farm or a local, organic farm.

I'm assuming you've asked your service provider to block it - is that correct? What about contacting your state's AG office and filing a complaint? I'm trying to think of other technical ways to block such a thing - what kind of phone system do you have?
