Was anyone here ever a male cheerleader? (1 Viewer)

I had somehow never read this before just now. It is obviously great, and has the single best piece of writing I've ever encountered here, dating back to cheatsheets.net days:

Once I was handed the ball and saw the opening I ran to daylight. Not because I knew what I was doing, I just loved the sunshine on my face.

Poetry.

RIP Ralph. :(

I think so. Wanna say I saw one on Facebook. I was friends with him there. Lost a couple of FB friends over the last few years. :(

Looks like his obituary is now archived and you have to pay to access it. Hope I'm not crossing any lines, but here's his FB page. Not sure if it is public or not. He really was a gentle, kind soul, from what I read of him. Wish I had saved some of his PMs he sent me over the years. Such a nice guy.

Agreed.

Good for him for this. All of it. RIP. :( No kidding.

Tearing up reading this, as always. I helped Ralph with some online dating advice :) but he reached out to me once when I was having a rough time. I don't even remember why or what, but I remember well that his words were special and particularly kind and made me think that someone I barely knew thought I was great. It was an incredible gift he had, to make you think you were the most awesome person in the world. And yet, he was...

This is my all time favorite FFA thread, and it's not even close.

Ralph's story was honest, genuine, touching, nostalgic, humble, and worth savoring.

Everyone can identify with it in one way or another.

The person that he was shines through brilliantly in his writing.

It's one of life's joys to reread this one every so often.

Ralph was one of the most genuinely kind people I've ever come across. Even seeing this thread title makes my eyes tear up.

He touched us all. Maybe not in the same way he touched a cheerleader but I certainly felt like I was there through his story telling.

I still have a PM he sent me thanking me for posting here. :lmao:

Such a great dude, super sense of humor and just a genuine guy. He's gone but not forgotten, not at all.

I wish I still had a PM he sent me. We hadn't really interacted, and I don't remember what was going on at the time, but I must have had a rough patch and he reached out to me and said some really nice and genuine stuff. We became friends after that, but his reaching out to me initially was just because he was that good a person.

Here is part of a really long PM he sent:

I am a fan of yours (my real name) and I always find your posts informative. I think we come at some things from different perspectives, and I appreciate the fact that you are one of the people on this board that expands my horizons but getting me to look at things in new ways.I agree, it would be great to meet one day. Take good care of yourself, (my real name).

Then when I was moving from Texas to DC he asked me three times how things were going and if everything was going smoothly, unsolicited.

I was so sad when I found out he passed, I had his name in my sig until just recently. :(

I sent him a pm to request permission to quote him in sig.

However, once I was handed the ball and saw the opening I ran to daylight. Not because I knew what I was doing, I just loved the sunshine on my face.
Permission to use this in my sig?
Granted!!!

I am honored by such a request.

Take good care of yourself!
