Did a fast search, and didnt see this anywhere.

I heard on the NFL Network last night that Washington was going to sign McCardell on Monday, possible spelling the end of Brandon Lloyd.

No link as it was on TV...and again, I hope this isnt Honda.

EDIT:

The only links I can find right now is on Wiki, where they say that WTEM Sports Talk 980 in Washingington is reporting this.

Sorry...best I can do.

Maybe it is to cover the S. Moss injury, I hope this does not mean he will be missing a month or so...

more likely to cover mr. invisible, brandon lloyd.

Snyder loves to spend that money!

He would've been better off getting Monk back on the field.

I saw this last night on the NFL Network as well. Adam Schefter reported it and sounded like it was a done deal. But I haven't seen anything in print about it either.

This will make for an interesting story seeing as how Gibbs was at the helm when he got cut the first go around, but other than that I don't see this being much of a fantasy impact.

If Moss is out any time I'd bump up Randle El and Cooley.

I wonder if this is more of a ceremonial signing? McCardell was drafted by Washington in 1991 and was a member of their Superbowl team.

McCardell Visit

Scheduled to come in on Monday for a visit. This will be his second trip to The Park and I wouldn't see them bringing him in without planning on signing him assuming he is in decent shape and passes a physical.
(Corrected LaCanfora's strangely horrible typing)

Wow, the Redskins were concerned about the WR position going into the season. Since then, they have signed Caldwell and now, probably McCardell.

I think they are concerned in Moss's injury. It definately says they have no confidence in Brandon Lloyd, to even be a #3 wr.

Gibbs said on the radio Tuesday that Lloyd was the number 4 wr and was in on certain packages. He thinks Caldwell is doing great and he wants to get him on the field soon. Gibbs also mentioned that Thrash is a great blocker in the 3 wr sets whereas Caldwell is more of pure wide receiver. I can't imagine why you want a blocking wr in your 3 wr sets.

Has there been an update on Moss?
No update on Moss yet, closest thing I have heard is that if we were to have a game this weekend he would not be able to play. From La Canfora:"Santana Moss says he has a strained groin and would not have played if the Skins had a game Sunday. Says he is not sure when he can return to practice and will see the trainers when he gets back to town next week. (Players are off the rest of the week, just have to come in to lift once, but no more practice or anything)."As for McCardell we were pursuing him in the offseason this year but weren't willing to give him enough to keep him away from his home town's team, Houston Texans. As for B. LLoyd he rarely sees the field and has yet to catch a ball this whole season (no TD's all of last season). I think it's about 99.9% sure B. LLoyd will be cut in the offseason...what a waste of talent.

They signed two former GB WRs this week, lost one off their PS to GB's active roster. (Francies and Bodiford IIRC)Now they're onto McCardell. I wouldn't be surprised if they're trying to get a trade for Lloyd worked out but the Arena teams aren't returning their calls. Interesting choice for this franchise to rebuild any unit in-season rather than in the FA market in the spring. Think of all the money they spent in years past, if this were March/April you'd figure Keenan and Reche would be overpaid. Wise cheap alternative move IMO as I'd consider each these guys to be average WRs at best but valuable veteran presence(s) in the lockerroom. Feel like I can name 100 4th and 5th string WRs that were young and never amounted to anything. Interesting concept
