so im sitting here eating my lunch between classes, and these guys are having their draft.. most picks are going about how you would expect, a couple of guys are slipping some are going above their expected spot.. 10 teams regular redraft.. get to pick number 31 and some absolute ####### takes the DA bears.. everyone was telling him how good of a pick it was.. why cant I get into this league?

Scoring system might have something to do with that pick. For their league, it may have been a good pick.

well I was talking to these guys before the draft started, and they said it was standard performance (not really sure what that is, they do get a ppr), but unless you get #1 wr point difference from your defense to the worst starting defense it doesnt really matter..

Thanks for the update. Let me know if you run into any other random drafts. I'm on edge.
ya, its actually informative to watch another draft believe it or not.. and just for the record, antonio gates was there in a ppr league I dont care what the defenses are worth gates is more valuable than any defense.. some guys still there when this guy took the bears Lee evans, Boldin, chambers, Jacobs, Kitna, leinart, driver, a johnson, all the wr basically from 10+ Lewis, Lynch, all the rbs 20+ also for the record I am not trying to be a jerk here, just making an observation of what could happen in a random league with redraft performance scoring

some people do actually play FF for fun, regardless of how good they are.

:goodposting: down?Haven't you ever told anybody at your draft that they had just made a great pick when it wasn't?

Balt and Chi were 25th and 30th overall in one of my leagues last year. Still, no reason to take them this year in the 3rd, but another league could even be more generous with their points system.

If I did a VBD of the final points in one of my leagues last year, the Baltimore D would have easily been in the top 20.

And FYI, not everyone in this world works a 9-5 job.

why cant I get into this league?
did you ask nicely? because i think that would be the first step to getting into that league.but it sounds like that one has already started, maybe you would be better off looking for a different one.

Who knows... if you're in a league that starts, say, 2 defenses, and they have points for scoring and yardage measures, along with sacks, turnovers, and special teams scoring... and all other positions are are relatively standard, I could see merit in landing at least one of these two D's early. In most situations, I would agree with you, but I have seem some crazy league settings on this site.

One year in a league I ran I decided to really beef the D's. Defenses win championships in the NFL, but are largely an after thought in the Fantasy Realm. So I made turnovers 3, Sacks 2, Safeties 5 (it's basically a sack and a turn over as they have to kick off), A sliding scale for how many points an opposing offense is held so for every point under 15 an opposing O is held, the D gets a point. So if a team is held to 3, the D gets 12. Holds a team to 10, D gets 5. Oh, and a shutout got a bonus 5 for stomping the opposing O. That was 1999 I think. The Rams D was incredible that year as teams were always playing catchup. Sacks and turnovers were insane. They were a top 20 player easily that year.In that scoring system, the Chicago D is a pretty viable pick at 31....The next year I scaled back the D scoring BTW....
