Water - What kind? (1 Viewer)

Since giving up Diet Coke I've been drinking nothing but water.

Usually drink filtered water from our refrigerator (filling a water bottle) or bottled spring Water.

The bottled water is just out of convenience when on the go or for packed lunches.

So what is the best water to be drinking? Tap, Spring, Purified, Distilled, Toilet?

TIA

I drink Nestlé bottled water like it's free.

I know you didn't ask but I am a bit of a rebel.

Define "best".

I mean, the answer is NYC tap water but I'll let you explain your preferences anyway.

I'll drink whatever - typically go tap, but if free filtration is available (fridge, filter at work, whatever) I'll take the filtration just because.

I will say that not all straight tap water tastes good. The tap from our building faucet is almost undrinkable unless you get it out of the reverse-osmosis filter.

Bottled water is basically a scam. And it's even worse when bottlers take water from drought-striken zones (Nestle in California for example). It's not that expensive but the bottles are wasteful and it's overall just not an efficient use of resources.

Tap water is best unless you are afraid of fluoride.

You seem like that guy who has never drank well water before.

Well water rules. I have a 3 stage filter & a UV light on my well. City water smells like a swimming pool with all the chlorine they toss in there.

Meaning?

My grandparents in rural OK are 100% well so I'm familiar with it. They run their water through a filter because it has a high rate of some chemical that isn't great for you

Isn't it true that a large portion of the 'good taste' comes from the water being cold?

Actually, the cold hides the taste. It dulls out the strong, unpleasant flavors that would be felt at room temperature. That's why beer companies want their product served iced cold.

There's a difference between city and well water, I can assure you of that.

And Fiji and Evian are not for suckers, in addition to some of the higher-end brands. They're pretty darn good. They're great water in comparison to some of the chemicals the cities pump out.

But nothing beats our well.

Wells can vary greatly in quality based on depth, chemical composition, and aquifer levels. Wells that are 100 yards apart can be completely different, and some of them are horrible. High iron and copper, bacteria, rotten eggs smell, etc. A shallow well on the other hand can be the best water you have ever consumed, but well water is not standard and does not rule.

MY well water rules... Farm next door has brown water so they don't use the well. I have a lot of sediment but the 3 stage fixes that.

I just drink cold tap water. I bought a hydro flask that will keep ice the entire day (i love me some near freezing cold H2O). Rinse and repeat.

I grew up on a farm drinking well water and I guess that is my preference but I really don't care. I hate paying for it though so I generally avoid bottled water.

Public health can be such a bummer

I have a RODI filter system at home. I fill up a gallon jug that I keep on the counter to top off my reef tank. My ice maker is hooked up to it also. The tap water here has so much chlorine in it, it's almost like pool water.

I drink well water at the ranch.

Don't understand why people are so against bottled water because you can drink tap water.

We purchase things because of their value. Cheap bottled water tastes much better than tap water, at least here, so that's what I get and it is worth $0.89 a gallon.

Wasn't there a guy a while back that started a thread, said he was going to buy land in Michigan and start a bottled water company? I wonder how that's going. I searched for the thread but I couldn't find it.

Tap. It's free.
This is like people that buy books when they are paying taxes to support a public library. It's such s waste of money to not drink tap water,
Meh, I buy it for the convenience. I dont drink bottled water at home. $3 for a case of 32. People waste more money on worse things that that.
Same here. I drink mostly filtered water from the fridge, over ice from the fridge. Our family uses the water and ice dispenser on the fridge more than the fridge itself.

But there's a place for the convenience of bottled water.

My wife is a big reader. She buys books all the time from Amazon, then I usually sell them later on for a few bucks less on eBay. She could place holds on the newer books she likes to read at the library, be on someone else's timetable for when she can get them and when she has to bring them back, and risk having to pay some money anyway when one is invariably late. The few dollars are definitely not considered wasted for her to avoid that.

The wet kind, I prefer mine cold but it's optional. It's water, don't over think it.
I like my liquid water with chunks of solid water in it.

I work in a place where we have a lot of ordinance and other crap out there that makes us not drink the tap water. So I refill a gallon jug from home. But I also have a case of "great value" generic water.

Fiji. The only people that have told me they taste no difference are the ones who haven't really tried it. Put tap/well next to a Fiji bottle on the table, take a sip of each. Difference is night and day.
