Wayne v.s. Harrison Week 9 (1 Viewer)

The last three games for the Colts has seen Wayne get more targets, receptions, yards, and TD's. The Pats are great against the run but suck against the pass which means Manning will be airing it out! Should we expect another monster performance by Wayne, or will Harrison burn the Pats for a couple of scores? Who has the better thoughts and predictions please.

Wayne - 7 receptions 125 yards, 1 TD

Harrison - 8 receptions, 120, 1 TD

Maybe I posted this too early? Surely people have an opinion about the best WR duo in football right?
yeh, it's a little early to post this. maybe try back around 11pm Sunday. ;)seriously, it's too hard to predict. If memory serves, it seems like they alternated back in 2004, so that would indicate it's Harrison's week. But my memory is a terrible to waste, so just ignore me. Last week was pretty clear - that Harrison would be locked on Champ's side of the field all day; thus indicating a bigger day for Wayne. But I'm not sure wabout the Pats defensive scheme.

If Manning has to roll out because of the pass rush, that would mean more passes to Harrsion. If not, then it depends on the coverage.

There's just not that much to say here. Both are excellent options every week. Guessing as to who will be better is moot.

Purely a guess whose logic can probably be easily shot down by someone else, but...

The Pats can't double both, so they'll probably put their best cover guy Ellis Hobbs on Wayne and put Asante Samuel on Marvin Harrison with help over the top from Rodney Harrison. I suspect this because I think the Pats will be bringing a lot of heat from Manning's left side (Seymour and then Jarvis Green on 3rd downs and Colvin occasionally on a blitz...although I don't expect much blitzing), hoping to get Manning to slide/roll right, away from Wayne, and to where the bulk of coverage has rotated. Manning will mostly be throwing to Addai, Clark and even Stokely, but when he does throw to his WRs, he'll take his chances with the single coverage on Wayne.

If you're trying to predict who will have the better fantasy day, might as well flip a coin...

solid analysis... thanks for the insight.

My guess based on the past (including past years):

If there is one really good CB, they get Harrison, which will greatly reduce thier stats. In that scenario, Wayne gets the ball more. If the CBs are more equal or they switch them aorund, Harrision on average will get more.

I don't know much about NE DBs. In the past, they rush Manning a lot (through good pass rush or blitzes) and bump the receivers hard at the line. NE changes things a lot from game to game, but I expect lots of pass rush.

This is a tough question to answer. Wayne has been hot due to the coverage given on Harrison's side.

Looks like Stokley is out. My guess is the TE's will be big in this game!

It'll be interesting to see if Seymour gets pressure this week if the Pats decide not to blitz.

My guess is that they will try to keep more into coverage and this will also open holes for Addai in the passing game.

Wheelhouse really summed it up though. Whoever is open will get the ball.

A lot depends on who gets the early lead. The Pats tend to play terrific football with a lead.

However, if the Colts get it going early, this will diminish the Pats running game effectiveness, and improve the balance for the Colts offense.

I look for a shootout.

In this week's Sports Illustrated, there was an article the Colts, with most of the focus on Wayne. They talked about how extremely conscious Manning is of keeping everyone involved. According to SI, early Monday morning after Wayne and some teammates celebrated the win at an Indianapolis bar, Wayne reflected on his big day, basically saying that it's Harrison's turn this week:

"Here's some advice for the New England game," Wayne said. "Don't put me on your fantasy team."
