Ways to run a dynasty league (1 Viewer)

Okay, so I've read enough about dynasty leagues to write a book about it but I have never been in one so I still don't know all the little intricacies of how they work. I know you can run a dynasty league without any restrictions but it seems as if there wont be much turnover in those kind of leagues and/or it'll be real stagnant (correct me if Im wrong). I know about salary caps and contracts but for first timers that seems to be very overwhelming. The upside is that players have a greater chance to move around to different teams. Could someone provide a quick summary of the different ways to run a dynasty league in case I look like a buffoon?

Is there a happy medium between the two? Anyway to run a dynasty so that a team cant keep the same team for years on end without some craft maneuvering? We want to run a league that runs similar to the NFL in where you can keep the core of your team together but a few pieces here and there (either significant or not significant) may get moved around. Like McGahee leaving for Baltimore or Javon Walker leaving for Oakland or something small like a backup leaving for another team.

Our league is setting up some rules to make player movement a little more possible (we've had a dynasty league since 1991). We have a rookie draft every year and a free agent auction. Here is what we do:Players drafted in the rookie draft have a 5 year contract (7 year if quarterback). Players signed in the free agent auction have a 3 year maximum contract. Players signed during the season just have a contract that runs out at the end of the season. Each team is allowed to franchise one player per season whose contract is running out, otherwise that player becomes eligible to be bid-on by anyone during the free agent auction. Players can be released from their contract without penalty to the team.Hope this helps.

That's pretty darn good. It allows for more player movement, but keeps things relativelt simple at the same time. Well done.

Hafax is kind of like that also but it not only has the Franchise player but 2 Restricted FP also where they can be bid on and compensation paid out for taking them away.
