we need a dynasty forum! (1 Viewer)

It's not a bad idea, but I don't think it's necessary. There are pros and cons. Most of the talk (I think?) in Shark Pool is dynasty-based already.

ETA: To be more specific, mainly the problem with having a whole dynasty partition and a whole redraft partition of the forum is that most things that are said about players are meaningful to both formats. So there would be massive redundancy going on in the two separate forums.

There is a dynasty specific thread for posting completed trades, though.

Then perhaps a redraft forum to separate the two?

What topics would be discussed specifically within a redraft or dynasty forum? The existing "help me make decisions" forum is already very sparsely used so further fragmenting that would be ridiculous

I actually think that getting info on how one or the other are viewing things is a benefit regardless of which side you play. It helps that they are sometimes discussed together to see how things may be breaking differently.

When I first started posting here my initial reaction was that I found it challenging to understand the lack of an organizational structure. I'm a lot less bothered now that I've been here for a couple of years and know where to find the threads on specific players (there's a pinned thread in the top section of the shark pool that's an index). I know that's not really the point of the OP but it's a parallel conversation IMO.

@ruggerschr1 --I think it's pretty simple to understand -- within each thread-- what is being discussed in terms of redraft and dynasty. The conversations during 8 months of the year are almost exclusively dynasty related. The month before and during the season there's a lot of in-season (redraft centered) discussion. The start-sit and waiver weekly threads are great for that kinda thing. Rest of season is also a great weekly thread. Between those three, most of the in-season-management discussion is thorough.

Not that I'd be opposed to two forums but think that the existing format becomes a bit more intuitive than you might think it is if you're a new poster.

No point....it's only dynasty talk from February to early June anyway. And as someone else said, the majority of the discussion in here (90% of it in season) applies to both formats

I tend to apply my own auto-bias to all the posts in this forum, be it dynasty vs redraft, start 1-qb vs SF, ppr vs non-ppr, TE-Prem vs other, etc.
Same in that most/all of my dynasty leagues are Keep 13 or 14 skill position players, so I typically have a redraft mentality when I’m in Win Now mode, so I read all of the posts for players I’m interested in.

One thing that might possibly be useful in the AC forum is to have the ability to tag threads with the type of league (dynasty v redraft, SF v 1qb, IDP, TE premium etc) or the type of thread (trades, WDIS etc) so that people particularly interested in one thing or another (or in something like my case can filter out IDP threads) can easily see/filter what they want to. That said, it goes back to what I said upthread in that traffic there is low, and with things like who do I start, which make up a decent percentage of traffic in season, whether it's dynasty or redraft is irrelevant anyway

Talking about a players value is dependent on season or dynasty. Ask me who is a better prospect, I need to know if you mean for this year or over the length of a career.

Not enough people. Right now there are 291 on this board. 68 members 223 guests.

The Basketball forum has been around since 2016 and it has 124 threads TOTAL.

Why would you want to have three discussions going on about a player?
First would be the player thread, then the team thread, then the dynasty forum thread.
