Thanks for the explanation. I only have two small quibbles really. One, I would have pulled the trigger on Westy. Second, I have Colston rated higher than TJ this year, as I think TJ's solid stats are on the decline and will be outweighed by Colston's upward trend. Again, it's really about how you value your guys. Ronnie Brown could become huge for you late, I may have taken a Grant, but that would have been a bit of a reach at that draft position. I think you will be competitive all year, as you're solid at every position (I think improved Oline will most assuredly help Bulger- someone I am targeting this year). Good jobFirst and foremost, this is a PPR, 2RB, 3WR, 1RB/WR flex. With that in mind, I knew I needed a primary back that can run and receive. Most people believe that Westbrook should have been the pick here. I considered it, but I went against the grain with Gore only because he is a runner first and a receiver second. In the second round, I knew I wanted a top tier 90+ reception WR to anchor my receiving corps, rather than chase a second level RB. I had some some targets for RB later in the draft. In the 3rd, I really wanted Fitzgerald, but I never got the chance. I was also hoping the Lewis or Ronnie Brown were available. Lewis went, so I pulled the trigger on Brown as my RB2. I had hoped to back this choice up with Ricky Williams, but felt anything earlier than the 10th round was too much to pay.In he 4th, I took WR Greg Jennings. I was travelling and timed out on my pick. There was a mini run on WRs that I had hoped would fall, and I took him based on ADP with the hopes that I could grab a few WRs that I had rated higher in the next couple of rounds. I was happy to see Roddy White in the 5th. A high reception WR with a 1,000 yard season under his belt.In the 6th round, I took Hines Ward. I am very happy to have him as a WR3/WR4. I don't expect him to return to his former glory, but he still gets the ball and I expect his yardage to improve to the 900 yard rand.I struggled in the 7th between Santana Moss and Coles with this pick. I went with Coles. I hope I made the right choice.I reacted to the lack of QBs in the 8th by taking Bulger. I think he will bounce back, but I didn't want to play musical QBs all season. I still might have to.As this point, I had a plan for later round RBs and decided to grab another WR in Donte Stallworth. He could be a nice bye week fill in or he might finally produce.10th round I went with Ahman Green. I already had enough WRs. He is a starter, but faces pressure from Chris Brown for his job. 1th round. I was holding my breath that I would be able to grab Chris Brown to make my gamble waiting on a 3rd RB pay off. I reached on him, but I felt it was necessary.12 round. My goal this entire draft was to sit on Sammy Morris until the 12th/13th round. Levin dashed my hopes. I decided to finally go TE. I felt that Watson was the last TD threat on the board.13th round. I pulled the trigger on my #2 ranked defense, Jacksonville.Overall, I knew that if I grabbed a WR in the 2nd, that RBs would be scarce and that I would need many WRs to fill in on my flex position. I missed out on a couple of players that I felt might drop, but I should be able to compete as long as I have not completely overvalued some players.Code:1.04 4 insidethestats.com Gore, Frank SFO RB2.09 21 insidethestats.com Houshmandzadeh, T.J. I'm glad you mentioned Grant. I was on vacation while drafting and completely overlooked that he was available. Thanks for the explanation. I only have two small quibbles really. On CBS... I just drafted Mendenhall in the 11th.round 66.01 61. expertfantasyfootball.com Cooley, Chris WAS TE 6.02 62. Fantasy Sports Group Smith, Kevin DET RB 6.03 63. Footballguys.com Johnson, Calvin DET WR 6.04 64. FantasyFootballEdge.net Cotchery, Jerricho NYJ WR 6.05 65. FantasyFootballstars.net Harrison, Marvin IND WR 6.06 66. MonsterDraft.com Bowe, Dwayne KCC WR 6.07 67. FantasyDraftEdge.com Curtis, Kevin PHI WR 6.08 68. Not Braylon but I feel like he's going to be concerned about injuries in 08. I too like those WRs if you take away any injury concernsJust a quick though (by no means thorough). I like FantasyFootballstars.net and their WRs a lot. They really have some depth:Branch, Deion SEA WR - 4 11.08 Curry, Ronald OAK WR - 5 12.05 Edwards, Braylon CLE WR - 5 2.05 Harrison, Marvin IND WR - 4 6.05 Smith, Steve CAR WR - 9 3.08 Plus:Winslow, Kellen CLE TE - 5 5.08
Hasselbeck is underrated for sure. He's lost so many offensive teammates over the year and he just keeps chugging along like a machine.Re RBs and WRs, starting 2 or 3 RBs and 3 or 4 WRs is a little tougher than it seems. Often times, you're looking at an every week starter in round 8 or 9. It's a little later than many other leagues that start 2 RBs and 3 WRs. I love having that one more starter thoughI also really like FantasyDraftEdge.com and his RBs. However, I think he really lacks in the WR department, and is banking on some of his weaker WRs to make a splash. He was also able to snag Hasselbeck, someone I am targeting later in drafts, and could be a steal:Hasselbeck, Matt SEA QB - 4 7.06 Addai, Joseph IND RB - 4 1.06 Grant, Ryan GBP RB - 8 3.06 Jones, Thomas NYJ RB - 5 5.06 Jones-Drew, Maurice JAC RB - 7 2.07
He's all over the map depending on people's thoughts on Fast Willie.IMO he's a backup so that's too early but FWIW, in previous years, I wouldn't have drafted Bush(re Deuce) or MJD(re Taylor) either so....On CBS... I just drafted Mendenhall in the 11th.round 66.08 68. FantasyFootballXtreme.com Mendenhall, Rashard PIT RB
True, plus with CBS mock drafts, you never know what kind of people are mocking with you. I didn't see any true outrageous picks but McNabb, Hasselbeck in the 6th than I landed Eli Manning in the 8th.He's all over the map depending on people's thoughts on Fast Willie.IMO he's a backup so that's too early but FWIW, in previous years, I wouldn't have drafted Bush(re Deuce) or MJD(re Taylor) either so....On CBS... As this draft got real late I was thinking the opposite guy to you, several times.Stokely and Darrell Jackson-I've been intrigued by Keary Colbert for a long while, since he did well that one year in Carolina. Shanny made some Rod Smith comment, Jackson doesn't seem like his ol'self and he's the one Keary's gotta beat out. Last pick worth a shotWe got Mark, you got DemetriusWe were looking at Jabar and Chad Jackson. As a Pats fan, you can imagine how I feel about a former first round pick and his lack of production. Brady was "all over" Jabar in recent ESPN Mag, I forget what he said but it was very very complimentary. Anyhow, I find Jabar's better weeks awful hard to predict so it's OK we didn't get one of them. You drafted Ike right about the time I was reading how Kennison may or may not sign in TampaLJ Smith sat out there too long. I was telling Jeff I wanted him just so no one else would get him. Also, you got lucky Rackers was there that late, good for youI love my depth. Though I wish I was a little stronger at RB, I am satisfied with my team.
Yeah - very much like he used to do with Branch. Gaffney is also an insurance policy for Moss, and he was drafted at good value in a PPR. he is certainly the starter opposite Moss with Welker working out of the slot (the Pats start three-wide receivers).Rackers was a high value pick that late - I would have been fine with the #20 K and swap em out each week until I find one that hits. Hope Rackers let me not have to do that, but I don't care about Ks.My last 11 picks were, IMO, all gold - I picked one player right at his ADP, but all the others were a round (or a few rounds) below their ADP. I pre-drafted after each pick and got my #1 selection 10 of the last 11 rounds. The only time I got my second pick was when Ike Bruce was selected two picks before I took Sammy Morris. I had Bruce as my #2 predrafted player for the previous two rounds! I really feel like I killed the second half of this draft, but I have had good drafts in this league before and been struck by bad luck.Re: Keary Colbert comparisons to Rod Smith. Yeah - maybe. But Stokely is the Wes Welker of that team and was really my goal. Jackson was to much value to pass up as the presumptive WR2 thereBrady was "all over" Jabar in recent ESPN Mag, I forget what he said but it was very very complimentary. Anyhow, I find Jabar's better weeks awful hard to predict so it's OK we didn't get one of them.
