Week 11 Waiver Wire Defense (1 Viewer)

Going with chiefs. I know it's against a hot Den offense but I'm sure they will get several sacks and maybe a int. I have to go with the consistency of the chiefs rather than hoping for points.

I have CAR. I picked up HOU to cover last week and this week. Unfortunately that cost me last week. But I am sitting CAR vs. NE this week. I was going to definitely use HOU vs. JAX but HOU isn't looking great even in favorable games and JAX isn't quite the pansy it was earlier this season.

In another league I'm using NYJ vs. Buffalo. I like the Jets' upcoming schedule after this week as well: @BAL, MIA, OAK.

Ppl playing HOU have the right idea but the way they have played to this point makes me second guess playing them. They may just pack it in I mean they just released Reed.

Reed has barely played this season

This is what I'm worried about. I'm tempted to release HOU, use that spot on a position player, and run CAR out even vs. NE. I would've used CAR last week vs. SF if it wasn't in SF but it turned out even that wasn't to CAR's detriment.

As far as the Reed comment, I think it's meant that Foster's IRed, Reed released, etc. The team obviously is out of the playoff race and might not play with full intensity, or at least for a whole game, each game.

Keenum is looking for his first win, and the defense knows that. I disagree about not playing with full intensity. In fact, I think it's the opposite happens this week. Look for Watt and the rest of that line to make plays and get the fans back on board.

Just dropped NYG to pick up HOU. I was on the fence but getting JAX next week is what swayed me.

I'll probably regret it on Sunday ;)

The more I think about it, the more comfortable I get rolling with the Chiefs. I know they're going to give up points, but in my league if you hold the other team under 30, you can still put up quality scores with sacks, turnovers, etc. The Chiefs can pressure the QB without blitzing, which allows them to drop more players into coverage... that's exactly how you have to defend these Broncos.

I don't think this game is going to be the blowout some are calling for. Reid will script it well to keep the ball out of Manning's hands as much as possible, and this D comes to play every week. Add in explosive special teams, and I'd just rather roll the dice on the known quantity with a tough matchup than hoping something goes right with a matchup play like Buffalo.

If you've got a strong D like the Jets lately in a great matchup, then sure... but I would probably have the Chiefs in the top 10 Ds this week... matchup be damned.

Any thoughts on the Titans moving forward? I'm debating whether to drop them and picking up the Giants at least for this week. I picked them up last week but they were pretty average vs. Jacksonville.

The only other option that looks reasonable in my WW just for this week is SD @ Miami.

Maybe I'm crazy (they're only projected in my Yahoo league to score 3.17 points) but I'm going with the New York Giants over Green Bay. The Giants have scored the second most points over the last 4 weeks in my league and with Tolzein starting I couldn't resist.

Dropped them for the bills. They will be worse now with no locker. They just got beat up by the jaguars

Very good point regarding no Locker. I'm torn between the Titans, Panthers and NY Giants defense.

Really going out on a limb there picking up the #1 fantasy defense.

I think his point was that this is a waiver wire defense thread. Aka... Who should I pick up. Not who am I starting.

Not a big deal to me, but people like to try and rile people up.

ahh my bad then.

CLE @ Cin???

Dalton has 7 turnovers in the past 2 games....

Browns held Bengals to 6pts (in Cleveland tho) in week 3

Coming off a bye....
Dropped NYG to pick up CLE to back up KC.

CLE Plays:

11-@CIN (18 fpts in last game this year)

12-PIT

13-JAX

they have the #1 defense in the NFL. They just havent been good fantasy wise

Kubiak is returning this week. You'd think that would add a bit of an emotional boost.

Im going NYG as well...looks ideal on paper. Id have no problem rolling out KC if I had them....it seems like exactly the kind of defense that could give Manning trouble at times. Hes been getting hit a lot lately and isnt above throwing an ill timed pick six either. Theyve got corners who can be physical with those WRs, LBs that can run, a NT who can collapse the pocket and a pair of tough edge rushers to test the OTs. Denver sure didnt look like they enjoyed being pressed repeatedly by IND at the line and I think KC can do that too

I like the Giants until I get to the paper. Tolzien had a very good game last week, though it was against the Eagles. Still, I'm not sure I do like the Giants as I think about it more and with Andre Brown back to help the running game.

The Titans vs. Colts are ok...but I'm not sure if the Panthers defense vs. NE is that much worse of a matchup as I think about it more.

Anybody rolling with Tampa Bay? Gonzalez may not play. White is hurt. ATL's running backs suck. TB playing at home. Could be a good play. I like them over San Diego.

If I had the Chiefs I'd roll with them.

Look at what the Colts did to Manning with a pretty average DL, and then think what the Chiefs can do with Poe, Hali and Houston.

I had NYG last week and couldn't have been happier.

I think GB will present a slighly better challenge than OAK did however so I decided to pick up CLE w/ PIT and JAX coming up at home.

I have KC but we have -4 penalties for 35+ and over 500 yards allowed so that's a potential -8 hole to crawl out of.

I guess it all depends on the scoring system people are in.

Not sure I agree. The defense didn't cost them against Jacksonville, 3 lost fumbles and an interception by the offense cost them.

The Titans defense forced 3 fumbles (recovered none), made 2 ints, had 3 sacks on top of holding Jax to 160 yards passing and 54 yards rushing. All-in-all they had a great game.

Got Panthers on my bench right now with Giants pencilled in to starting line up.

I admit though, I also like the potential of Tampa this week. Just got their first win so players might be motivated, playing at home and Atlanta have been just awful recently.

Same here. Dropping the jets to pick up HOU after some tool just dropped them for Indy. Whatever. I'm sure we'll be fine.

I have KC but I'm not crazy. Manning will light Ho KC at home. I'm thinking Jets vs a banged up Buffelo. Maybe browns? Jets or browns not sure yet waiting on more feedback on this thread.

Very glad I didn't stick with the Titans. At this point, I'm just going with the Panthers against NE which does not give me any more confidence, but if I can squeeze out a few points, it'll be better than the zero (in my league) that the Titans defense put up. Whew.

With McGloin likely to start this week for OAK, HOU is looking better and better even though they have been bottom of the league for fantasy purposes...

Not sure why anyone would expect much from the Titans against the Colts and they play them again in two weeks with the Broncos after that.

However Tennessee has the Raiders (in Oak) next week and are home vs Ari in week 15 and at Jax week 16. Not sure any team has better playoff matchups than the Titans.

I have the Houston defense, and playing at home in a welcome back game for the head coach should be an emotional game. I like them a lot this week. But I'll caution you that McGloin is probably not nearly the turnover machine that Pryor was. Still should be easy to contain him.

Are the Rams a good ROS add (week 13, 14, 16)? They're by far the highest scoring def on my wire. They have a bye this week then:

12 vs Bears (Bench)

13 at 49ers (Start)

14 at Cardinals (Start)

15 vs Saits (Bench)

16 vs Buccaneers (Start)

17 at Seahawks
Debating this right now as well. Paired with the chiefs my D would be set. It would cost me Roddy white who i really dont need with AJ Green and K Allen starting and Torrey Smith and K Wright on the bench. I really wanted to give White another week though before i cut ties. st Louis will be a waver add next week and i dont want to waste a waver on a TD.

I am looking at the same question.. but have a tough time pulling the trigger on o ST Louis. AZ has not given up many DT points at home, and neither has SF, so I am not sold on playing at SF or at AZ as being good plays...

On the other hand Ten has played less than stellar. Without Locker, they were Meh at home vs JAX. Why do we think they will play better week 16 on the road vs JAX

Still holding NYJ at home week 14 and 16.. they play well at home

Also have KC and SF but thinking of dropping SF for NYJ. Is NYJ the best to match KC with going forward?

I'm surprised there isn't a little more talk about the Giants.

They've been on a roll.

They get a practice squad QB.

Brown is now getting the run game going, taking pressure off of Eli.

I know some are positive about Tolzien, so am I to some degree, as a Nelson owner believe me I'd like to see him succeed, but he still threw a couple picks and there's at least a little film on him now. Could be some sacks. Also Eli is still throwing his pick6's but really I sense the whole Packer team is down without Rodgers.

The Giants just seem to be in a massive comeback mode and I think they win this one.

Another KC owner here, and I can't decide between NYG or NYJ tomorrow. People have made very good arguments for both, so I'm torn.

My first instinct is to pick the Jets, because the Giants are playing against a pretty good offensive team that is only down Rodgers, and Tolzien probably won't present too major of a drop off, if his spot duty last week translates over to this week's start. But then I examine the fantasy points the Jets have put up in my scoring system this season, to date. Their season high was 17 points, which they've done twice (once against the Bills), and then they have a 14, and 11 point game, and the rest were single digit duds. Compare this to the Giants that have scored 13, 24, and 22 fantasy points in their last three games.

Much is said about how good the Jets defensive line and run defense are, but as a complete unit, are they capable of explosive plays? The lack of big fantasy games so far this season concerns me. Perhaps, because of this, the Giants are the play for week 11?

I too am torn between the Jets and Giants. I know the Giants have put up 3 good games recently, but weren't two of them vs Freeman making his 1st Vikings start and Matt Barkley when he came in for Vick? I would feel better if Seneca Wallace was still starting for Green Bay. Id be more confident in the Giants getting to him. But Tolzien (sp?) might make better use of Jordy, Jones and Boykin. Not to mention Lacy is still legit. I'll take my chances with a struggling Buffalo club that's missing Stevie and Woods and Spiller still limping. Manuel won't beat the jets deep. And The jets have had 2 weeks to prepare while the bills might sleep walk into their late bye week next week. I have leaned with the jets.
