Actually, that's part of my point: once you've called the timeout -- giving Indy 25 seconds for free -- doesn't that demand that you go for it on 4th down?Right call, wrong time out.So, did Norv make the right call with the field goal on 4th and 2?
Oakland's still in the hunt as well.Norv Turner definitely messed up by calling that timeout before the field goal. But how anyone say the Chargers season is over? Even at 4-7, they are still only two game behind the Broncos, who just lost by 21 at home to the Raiders, so the division is still within their reach.

Very good point and one I didn't think of. The answer is, I don't know! I actually still lean towards kicking the FG there and taking your chances you can keept them from scoring. But you're right, once the TO was called, the whole thing comes into question. Why call the timeout? How can you not know what to do in that situation, and what the consequences of a time out are? Norv Turner is not some rookie head coach here. It's mystifying to me. It suggests a lack of organization, that would really worry me as a Charger fan.Actually, that's part of my point: once you've called the timeout -- giving Indy 25 seconds for free -- doesn't that demand that you go for it on 4th down?Right call, wrong time out.So, did Norv make the right call with the field goal on 4th and 2?
he hasn't gone anywhere, he was shutting down Wayne all night.i mean where has cromartie gone?
My opinion is it all comes down to the lack of a consistent running game. Without the same LT you've had in years past, the time of possession is smaller on average, because you throw too often. This means that the defense is on the field much more than they were last year. They're tired by the end of the game.i hope u r right. i feel like the Carolina last minute loss then the Denver ref fiasco really had a referberating effect on the defense. seems they just cant snap out of the oh hell here we go again mentality.i mean where has cromartie gone? could merriman's loss hurt THIS much?? they still have phillips and the DLine. Jammer is playing better.... Whats wrong?
I hear you - but LT got 21 carries tonight. Norv is giving him his touches, the holes are just not there. I think it's a combination of the OL having a poor year, the loss of Lo Neal, and LT not being quite as great as he's been in the past due to the lingering toe injury. My opinion is it all comes down to the lack of a consistent running game. IMO, this is exceedingly optimistic. I dunno if I call the Falcons 'win' and Oakland has been playing far better defense the last two weeks. For that matter, KC has had good offense overall the last month and the Chargers are having a tough time getting QB pressure. All three of those could go either way. At least they get Denver at home.I mean, I love the Bolts, but both Thigpen (shudder) and Ryan have the ability to carve this secondary up if it has one of it's down games.San Diego 4-7

Having split the season series with Denver, the Chargers would win the division by virtue of the better divisional record. Is this scenario all that implausible? The only semi-reach for San Diego is beating Atlanta at home, which Denver just beat IN Atlanta a week ago. I think it comes down to that final game of the year for the division title, and if San Diego wins that then they are the 8-8 division champs. After that, they host a home playoff game against most likely either Indy or New England -- one team that they lost to by a FG and one team that they beat up on. Then they'd travel to either New York or Pittsburgh -- again, one team they barely lost to and one team they beat up on.
In the 2008 AFC, the season is never over.
With the way the Chargers have played and failed to close out games, I'm not calling ANY games a win. But I'm presenting an extremely realistic scenario here. Let's face it -- the Chargers have been right there in just about every game this season. They aren't far off from cruising to this division title with a few different bounces of the ball. And yes, I know, it's the NFL and that happens yada yada. I'm just saying, it's not like we need to give them wins at Pittsburgh and the Giants to get to 7-8 here. It's very winnable games over less-than-outstanding competition.Do I think this all of this will happen? Yes, I sincerely do. Would I bet my life or home on it? Mmm, not quite.IMO, this is exceedingly optimistic. I dunno if I call the Falcons 'win' and Oakland has been playing far better defense the last two weeks.
