Week 14 Game Thread - Oakland Raiders at SD Chargers (1 Viewer)

So what's everyone think? Will they bench LT early? What's the difference from their standpoint, they might as well let him play. Of course, I may be a bit biased.
They'll let him play. I don't see why they'd pull him out. It isn't like they are keeping him fresh for anything.
He'll probably get the 4th quarter off if it's a blowout. Until then he'll get two series then Sproles gets one is what it looks like.
Did he pull himself out of the game when Sproles caught that TD? Man, I really need more points from LT. I'm against Turner and Forte.

I'd rather watch the Lions. This is the most embarrassing display of football I've ever seen in 34 years of watching this sport. This team should be banned the rest of the year. Just give their opponents wins based on forfiet.

OMFG. Raiders are deplorable. I hope they don't come back out after halftime. NFLN can switch over to "Heidi" w/out fear of a miraculous comeback.

This is clearly the worst team in the NFL. Detroit would take the Raiders. I would put $$ on it.

LT might bench himself in this one...
Prediction: Sproles finishes with more fantasy pts than LT by night's end. LT should demand to stay in, considering the entire nation feels he is now just another good rb in the league. Games like this should make him and the SD offense feel good. Stop putting Sproles in every other set of downs.

Here is a delightful Apple Strudel recipe I discovered for the holidays:

INGREDIENTS

1 pound sweet apples -- peeled, cored and thinly sliced
1/4 cup golden raisins
1/4 cup dried currants
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons white sugar
2 slices brown bread, crumbled
1/2 (16 ounce) package phyllo dough
1/4 cup butter, melted DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
In a bowl, combine apples, raisins, currants, cinnamon, sugar and bread crumbs. Stir well.
Spread several sheets of pastry generously with melted butter and lay them on atop the other on a baking sheet. Spread the fruit mixture evenly over the top sheet, then roll the sheets up to form a log shape. Brush with melted butter again.
Bake in preheated oven 30 minutes, until pastry is golden brown and fruit is tender.

you know it's bad when the commentators are laughing at you.

after that 2nd and 35 I was wondering what the record was for yardage required for a first down conversion.

Keep your head out of the oven, GB.

I hope so... I hope so. Sincerely,Playing against LT

Hey, the Raiders are doing a good job containing LT. He's still under 4.0 ypc. He just can't seem to turn it up.

I'm not a Charger fan, but I go over and over this in my mind, and I have no answer.

How can the Chargers be 4-8?

Could Merriman really make that much of a difference? The Giants lost a key defensive lineman. The Steelers have tons of injuries. And they're doing great. I know LT is hurt too, but is that really the key?

The last two years, this has been one of the great teams in football. Most of the players are still there. If Norv Turner is so bad, what about last year, then?

I don't get it.
Well, first off, they would be marginally better (5-7) if not for the Hochuli call. (And Denver would only be 6-6, so San Diego would be in a lot better position to still win its division.)They have lost 8 games by a total of 34 points. 4 of the 8 losses were lost within the last 30 seconds of the game. So they have been very competitive. And the teams they have lost to have generally been good teams.

All that said, the defense has been the biggest problem. Entering tonight's game:

They only had 14 takeaways on the season... when last year they had 48.

They were #27 in yards allowed... last year they were #14.

They were #21 in points allowed... last year they were #5.

Unbelievable. Ok we got LT looking good, running hard and looking quick, AND the o line is blocking someone finally too (thanks Oakland). Looks like it's setting up for that long awaited huge night for LT.

BUT they get in an early giant blowout and we now have Sproles more involved than ever!

They need to forget about McFadden and let Fargas do everything - at least they get somewhere when he is involved!

I'd be surprised if he gets more than 7 touches the rest of the game and maybe 20 yards. And no, he really hasn't looked that great. He's nearly a paltry 3.0 ypc against a terrible run defense.

Malcom Floyd yet another player I cant wait to see get more opportunity elsewhere - or maybe back with SD - he's an RFA next year, and Chambers/Vjax are both UFAs after 09. Floyd reminds me a lot of Colston.

Yeah I agree. he's had about 2 or 3 runs including the TD that didn't suck.

...and one whole target.

May just want to copy this for when Chester Taylor gets most of the second half carries this week.

All things considered, I'd say it was a pretty good 1st half.

Sodomized on both lines of scrimmage - CHECK

No points - CHECK

Can't slow down San Diego's offense - CHECK

Franchise (LOL) QB carted off the field - CHECK

If Al poops in his Depends, we'll be throwing a perfect game.

IMO they should keep VJax and Floyd and let Chambers go.

Man, don't say that. That would jinx both of my starting RBs.

For those scoring at home, Yahoo is putting Coopers second INT down for Cromartie...ESPN has Cooper with both...

Miller actually looked slow there. Either way well done on his part.

Al Davis is a TOTAL embarrassment to the NFL and what it stands for
He did revolutionize the league and eventhough he's kinda gone crazy last few years does command respect for all that he has done. He's one of the major reasons the NFL is so succesful today. I totally disagree but thats just me though.

Look on the bright side, at least your only good receiver didn't get a concussion.

What you're saying is true, but I think Al Davis has become an embarrassment. A huge one. It's like watching Nature Boy Ric Flair wrestle when he's 50+ years of age. Used to be one of the best, but now he's just sad, pathetic and kind of creepy.

This has probably been covered but I have to ask:

WHERE TF IS GATES???????

Remember the guy who allegedly is their best receiving option?? <_<
