In my main league, we've always played week 17 championships. I feel like the rest of the fantasy football world has missed some incredible games over the years, and our league gets an extra week.

Now to dilute the impact of someone sitting out, we combine our week 16 and 17 scores for a 2-week mega-bowl. It works great and I highly recommend it.

At this point, the Patriots and Jets are the only two teams with nothing to play for. However, history tells us that Brady will probably play a half, put up 200 yards and 2-3 TD's.

Also, if the Falcons win tonight, they will be in the same situation as the Patriots, so fantasy owners of Roddy and Matt Ryan will be pulling for a Saints victory tonight.

Only one of my 3 ESPN leagues goes through week 17.

I like the rules over there of using two weeks per Playoff round for a combined score so going into Week 17 isn't all that bad.

As it stands right now for the first week of the Championship I am up 121-119.

I have Vick left, he has Brees.

Either way it should be a close match-up going into week 17.

I believe the Chiefs have little (or nothing) on the line in week 17 as well, except for maybe spoiling the Raiders chances at sweeping the division.The two-week championship is a good idea for Week 17. I've always hated week 17 fantasy super bowls since it usually favors the lower ranked seed.

I have done week 17 Championship games for the last 20 years for the 3 leagues I run.....this year I finally went to league 16 after last year's debacle of so many teams resting players it was just too much to take.

I finally gave in.

I play in two leagues that use Week 17 as the Super Bowl. I need 18 points tonight from Roddy White and Matt Bryant to advance to one of them and am currently nursing a 39 point lead in another semi-final with my AP going up against his Hartley and DeSean Jackson.

I agree. We agreed as a league that this would be the final year of a Week 17 championship and will be going to Week 16 next year. People planned for Week 17 this year early which is why we didn't make the change for 2010.

I hope to make it to my Week 17 Championship game.

I can definitely see why folks are against them, but I'm personally fine with it. The arguments against Week 17 Championships seem to make more sense in leagues with shallow rosters; I prefer to play in leagues where the bench is equal in size to the starting lineup. (What I don't care much for are folks who wait for threads such as this each year, and jump on board, just to tell everybody that they're wrong wrong wrong for having a Week 17 Championship.) That said, should the NFL adopt an 18 game schedule, our league is likely to keep the current 17-week schedule with Week 17 Championship, and completely forego weeks 18 and 19. If it's a 20-week schedule, we'll have to ponder some more.

Oddly, though the years, it seems we've had some very close week 17 championships, with only a couple low-scoring games. The two best teams often have pretty solid benches. Go figure.

On the flip side, which teams have EVERYTHING to play for?

Seahawks/Rams is for the NFC West.

With the Saints win last night, the Falcons need to beat the Panthers at home to clinch the #1 seed. Don't have the time to look at all scenarios now, but bumping this thread at least to re-visit.
