Week 2 2025 who should I start thread **OFFICIALLY UNOFFICIAL** (6 Viewers)

Footballguy
This is where we ask questions and offer help.

Thank you to all the posters who come here to offer that help.

A couple notes:

I attempt to give well considered responses to all questions posted. I can't get to everything, but I'll try.

1) This only works if people participate. If you ask for help it is good form to offer help to someone else.

2) Please post the matchup. e.g. Penix vs Den or James Cook @ Mia

3) Please post important league scoring considerations (e.g. PPR, super-flex etc).

4) Please go easy on the nicknames, save that for other threads. We can't help if we don't know who you are talking about.

5) NEW REQUEST: Please remember that if you come here asking advice, it is greatly appreciated if you offer advice to others. TIA

View this as an exercise to help focus your thoughts about teams in general. Players you own may not be involved in these WDIS questions but certainly you will own players on many of these teams. Analyzing other players will help you identify things you may have otherwise not considered.

(Joe Edit: When you ask, please let us know which way you're leaning. And more importantly, why. What do you see as the pros and cons. Most people will be much more likely to help if they feel like you've put in a little work on this as well.)

Let's move on to week 2

@Joe Bryant @FBG Moderator

I'll start:

PPR I need two:
Marquise Brown v PHI
Jameson Williams v CHI
D'Andre Swift @ DET

ATM I have Brown on the bench in a tough matchup but I am wondering if he should be a starter because it's PPR.

Swift > Brown > Williams for me. It being PPR swung it for me tbh. Detroit targets seem too hard to predict currently.

I'd start Swift and Brown in a ppr
I don't think Brown's matchup is as tough as it could have been, the Eagles secondary is vulnerable right now imop

PPR pick 2
Jayden Reed vs Washington on TNF
Jaylon Waddle vs NE
Keon Coleman @ The Jets

PPR pick 1 - no IDP points
Travis Hunter vs cincy
Keon Coleman @ The jets
K Walker @ Pittsburgh

SF (starting hurts plus)
Dak vs the giants
JJM vs falcons

Swift. It only seems like he’s playing against the bears.
I’m benching Jameson for Travis Hunter, would definitely start swift.

I like to make things complicated so...

pick 5

Marlon Humphrey vs. CLE
Jaylon Jones vs. DEN
Kamari Lassiter vs. TB
Camryn Bynum vs. DEN
Malik Hooker vs. NYG
Xavier McKinney vs. WAS
Jalen Pitre vs. TB
Isaiah Pola-Mao vs LAC
Justin Reid vs SF
Andrew Wingard vd CIN

J.Burrow vs Jax
J.Herbert @ LAV

Last week my "friend" started Herbert
It worked
Deja Vu all over again?

PPR pick 2
Jayden Reed vs Washington on TNF
Jaylon Waddle vs NE
Keon Coleman @ The Jets

PPR pick 1 - no IDP points
Travis Hunter vs cincy
Keon Coleman @ The jets
K Walker @ Pittsburgh

SF (starting hurts plus)
Dak vs the giants
JJM vs falcons
First one: Keon for sure. Man, it should be Waddle but until we see that Mia offense do something positive it's hard to starts any of them outside of Achane... and even then.

Second: It's close between Keon and Travis, but I think Travis gets more catches in a game that could be a shootout. I think the Bills expose The Jets for what we all thought they were going to be and get ahead big early.

SF: JJM. Hurts gives you a good floor, JJM could combine to win it with just your QBs. Dak is definitely the safer pick but lower ceiling.

Half PPR:

Need one of the following for flex:
Jakobi Meyers v LAC
RJ Harvey @ IND
Pacheco v PHI
Calvin Ridley v LAR
Keon Coleman @ NYJ
I may like Jakobi at first blush. He's a WR1 and has a decent matchup at home. The Broncos looked terrible and Harvey played 29% of the snaps. The Titans don't look ready for prime time and the Rams are a tough defense. Keon, looks like the WR1 in Buffalo and had a great game. Maybe the Jets can continue their high scoring ways and keep the Bills passing but, I have concerns about the ability of the Jets to play with the Bills and maybe that turns into a quieter game for the pass catchers. I have no such concerns with the Chargers. They should keep the Raiders aggressive on offense all night.

It's close between Coleman and Jakobi for me.

Jakobi>Coleman

I'm thinking Coleman. Miami is a hot mess and you just never know when Jayden is going to put together a nice game in that offense. I think we can at least rely on Coleman being a first read for a lot of the Bills passing game.

Coleman>Reed>Waddle

Second choice is a pick'em for sure. I am hesitant to go with the rookie, particularly when, despite the outcome Lawrence didn't look great but, it's a good matchup (I think) against a potentially potent offense. I don't trust the Seahawks run game ATM which, leaves Coleman who I like too. Tough, tough call.

Hunter>Coleman I think, but go with your gut.

People need to pump the brakes on JJ just a bit. He did only throw the ball 20 times. I think Minnesota is going to try and win games on the ground as much as possible for now. Dak OTOH will throw 35-40x per week.

Dak>JJ
Dak>JJ

Sorry, man I don't really do IDP. Any advice I offer would be wild ### guesses. But, can't go wrong with a Raider IMO.

Any IDP people here?

Y'know, they're both great options IMO. I have no problem starting Herbert in this situation.

Personally:
Burrow>Herbert

Standard scoring Non-PPR league. I need to start one of these players in my flex:

Hill vs NE - only managed 40 yards last week; literally anyone else I played would have outscored him; bounce back at home?
Deebo vs GB - Thursday night game so I need to make the call here; seems to be heavily involved while he is healthy
Etienne vs CIN - I'm normally not a chase the pts guy, but he flashed and Tank is no longer in the picture

Tough call. I usually lean toward RB but didn't last week as there was more uncertainty in JAX.

Thanks in advance for all the replies!

I'm riding Etienne in this situation pretty easily. Miami looks like a mess and Tyreek knows he's on the trade block, I don't like that combo.

Deebo had a nice start for sure but, Etienne looks like he's going to be a 20 touch back and it's a great matchup.

Etienne>Deebo>Tyreek

One of the best weekly threads on here. Thank you all for giving advice.

I got one in a 12 team NON-PPR guys:

Need a WR in flex:
Deebo Thurs nite @ GB... OR
Egbuka Mon nite @ HOU

Remember Non-ppr - Thanks!

I think I would go with Egbuka. Both seem like good non-PPR options but, I really want to see if Egbuka and the Buccaneers are for real. Because they sure look like they are.

Egbuka>Deebo

1 QB, 6 point for passing TD
Dak Prescott - home vs Giants
Drake May - at Dolphins

Dak looked good against the Eagles, and could have had a big win if CeeDee Lamb makes a couple more catches. Drake Maye looked bad last week against the Cardinals at home.

I'm also worried about the Sun in Miami for a 1 PM game. Weather forecast is for thunderstorms in the morning becoming widespread in the afternoon. Sounds like it would be cloudy, but the forecast UV Index is "Extreme" - sounds like a very sunny day when the storm clouds are not there. The game where McDaniel was officially crowned a Football Galaxy Brain was a 1 PM home game in September.

Pick 2 - .5 PPR

Henderson vs MIA
Pearsall vs NO
Coleman vs NYJ
You have three potentially great options so, you really should pick the one that makes you feel happy. Not kidding.

Henderson has a great matchup but it does feel like a timeshare. Still he should see some plus opportunities against a reeling opponent.

Coleman is looking like the WR1 in Buffalo and could see 10+ targets. I don't love his matchup but he's a good option.

Pearsall had a great start last week and now Kittle is out for four weeks. It's a two man show and, even if they get a big lead Pearsall should see good volume.

Pearsall>Coleman>Henderson

ETA: @anguskahn I just saw a report that Purdy is trending out this week leaving Mac Jones at QB. Honestly, doesn't really change my opinion. I think Jones and Purdy are similar QBs in this system.

Dak for me. This feels like overthinking. Dak has been a top performing fantasy QB in the past. Maye has been a lesser Caleb Williams. I guess Maye has a slightly better matchup but, I also wouldn't be surprised if the Patriots run the ball 50 times.

Dak>Maye

PPR: Need 1

Diggs vs Mia
Jeudy vs Balt
Jayden Reed vs Wash
I think I go with Jeudy. It looks like Cleveland will be a passing team in the near term and they won't be able to run against a Baltimore team that could put up 50 on them.

Diggs and Reed feel much more hit-or-miss.

Jeudy>Diggs>Reed

Here is a tough one, for me at least.

Start Matthew Golden tonight or roll the dice on London? I have other options, but these are my best two.
