Week 2 Waiver Wire (1 Viewer)

In my situation, my starters are Conner and Sanders, both nicked up.  And I wasn't strong at RB to begin with.  So spending 1/2 my FAAB was reasonable to me.  The guy that won the bid has Henry and Jacobs at RB with Gordon as his RB3, spending 60% of his budget on Hines didn't make sense.  Oh well, I can see your point, and I am not mad for losing the bid.  $126 was the max that I wanted to spend.
Having Connor and Bell in one league, I share your pain.   I just get the impression that cooler heads will prevail.  Blowing it all on that one "must have" player always has me scratching my head.

In he case of the Colt's. Taylor did have 6 receptions himself last week (a surprise) so Hines' value remains to be seen.

We drafted  extra rounds this year. Nothing by scrubs on the wire. So although I don’t need RBs went for Hines and spent big $111 out of $300. Think he’s a lock for solid production with a Rivera. Ekeler light in this offense. Trying to add RB depth to afford multiple WR upgrade moves

also picked up Scotty Miller. good buzz, both stud WRa banged up etc. Brady Will find open guy

My choice is coming down to Gaskin or Campbell.....I'm pretty stacked at WR though....leaning Myles "Sandman" Gaskin....of course I just went back and watched his college highlight reel!  That'll get you every time....
I won the bid for Thomas TE....problem was it was for Jordan Thomas who is a FA and not Logan Thomas. So I then scoured the waiver wire to see who I can pick up for FCFS and Gaskins was available so here is to hoping he can keep the starting job.

Anybody see any Logan Thomas bids?

Also, I really want to get Van Jefferson. LA has had three fantasy relevant receivers before and this kid is a stud.
Out of $200, but previous year rolls over if not all used.

one league I am in he went for $1.  I meant to bid $3 here.

Other league he cleared bidding and was FCFS claimed immediately.

Both are 12 team 20 roster spot leagues

In my auction with $1000 to bid I got L.Thomas for $213.  It's 1.5 pts per reception and my TE was K. Rudolph so this was more of a need for me than anything I know about L. Thomas.

Deontay Harris is my deep dynasty pull.  NOS WR should get looks if Thomas is out and they have tried to work him in occasionally in the past.  Looks the part when he does get the ball.  Return yard bonus for those leagues.

12 team redraft 0.5ppr:  hines bidding: 68%, 55%, 43% (me), 32% and a few lower ones (there were no other decent RB's available)

meanwhile paris campbell only went for $5 and robbie anderson $3... =this league has always overvalued RB's though.

I see this nonsense every year... how can you blow the bulk of your budget, this early, on a player in a part-time role?
Week 1 in many ways is the biggest reveal on player data we get all season.

I am the other way on this.  On the top 250 forward Hines is a fringe RB2/high level RB3 in PPR.  If a PPR draft were held today he would probably go in round what maybe 6?  Same argument can be made for Malcolm Brown.

In one league I waited too long at TE at wound up with only Blake Jarwin at TE.  I just spent 70% of my budget on Goedert and was scared I didn't bid enough but luckily I did.

And the earlier in the year you take a guy the more weeks you get to use them.

Go big early IMO.

Are we talking about a different Anthony Miller that's always missing games - because the one on Chicago played 15 games as a rookie (and scored 7 TDs) and 16 games last season?

I think the problems with Bears WRs stem from the inaccurate arm of Mitchell Trubisky.

He hasn't missed many games, but he had a lingering shoulder issue and seems nicked up.  I wouldn't call him injury prone if people are labeling him that.

How can you with Godwin and Evans above him? I understand but is this guy going to be a 5/60 guy every week? That's good but you would only want that type of production on a bye week and...oh I see why he makes some sense end of bench.

He had left shoulder injuries coming out of college and had multiple surgeries on that shoulder.  Rehabbing for two years I believe, so yes, it does sound like it was a serious injury.  If he's over it now that's great.  But injuries like that seem to creep up again (see Sam Bradford and not saying they are the same injury, just that it can be serious).  Hopefully all that is behind Miller and he can go on to a productive career.

Evans was dinged coming into week 1.  Godwin might miss a week or more with late onset concussion symptoms.  Brady loves him some white slot WRs.

I'm not sure what was more frustrating: Owning Anthony Miller or guy like them who rarely if ever produce b/c they have an eternal hangnail or owning a guy like Will Fuller who goes off one day, breaks his fool neck and is out the rest of the season. Either way you can't have much confidence or production from them. I'd rather avoid them and their "potential".

Ii think Miller could be a 5/60 player every week. Brady trusts him. If the big guys are out he could produce bigger numbers. He’s not a league winner but he is a nice flex or bye week replacement. He’s a solid addition to my squad in a 12 team deep bench league.

in FFPC where you start with $1000.   L. Thomas went for an average of $320 last night.
I have three teams in NFFC. He wen for 189, 154, and 11. I was the 154 guy in my league with a 95 runner up bid. I lost Jarwin and only have Jonnu. My team is stacked in all other spots so I threw some money out here. I’d hate for TE to hold my otherwise solid team back.I just get my guys and don’t worry about over bidding. In this league there were 4 teams that were weak at TE so I knew I had to put out a biggish bid. There is unknown upside to Thomas which is exciting. I grabbed Jimmy Graham on the cheap as well to see how this plays out.

Got outbid for Hines 33-25 in FAAB and for Campbell 12-7, both times I was 2nd in bidding. Made a big long case for splurging on both and I get neither. *FeelsBadMan.jpg*

What was it out of (total amount of bid money you get).  I probably missed original information on this.

Dynasty leagues - I got Gaskin in 2 leagues for 15%, beating 5% and 11%. Malcolm Brown went for 33/35% in the same leagues.

Good reminder since I haven’t thought about him.    Anyone really think he becomes relevant for more than a couple of weeks?
I have heard really good things and Deebo can't seem to get healthy.  Imagine for many of us it requires finding a drop on the roster..that's what I am struggling with.

He's got ridiculous arms / catch radius. Like, 1" shorter radius than Calvin Johnson, but he's 5" shorter - which is insane. He's also reportedly electric with the ball in his hands, and the video I'd seen of him he looked sure-handed, and ran good routes. Also a gadget play guy, should see 1-2 hand-offs.

Bear in mind, I was also super annoyed while watching these videos because I wanted the Niners to take Lamb or Jeudy.

If he plays in the NFL like he did in college, he will continue to be viable after Debo comes back. He may even improve for drawing lesser coverage.

But that's all contingent on whether he translates immediately to the NFL. Some players do, some don't.  TBD

No worries, but we seem to be experiencing a form of Operator Game, where every time Debo's mentioned, it gets worse, and more chronic. Next post will be like, "...and since Debo's foot got gangrenous & fell off, Aiyuk is probably a great pickup!"

I remember him being banged up last year too.

Admit it Hot Sauce Guy, you have a soft spot for these perpetually nicked up receivers.  First Anthony Miller, now Deebo.....

All in jest!

I've managed to build a monster in a 10-team, Non-PPR, Perpetual Keeper League over the course of 4 seasons, yet still get excited to round-out my roster with some exciting young wide-outs like Parris Campbell and Brian Auyiuk. Picked up both during this AM's WW processing, as the majority of teams scrambled for RB (AP, Hines, Snell, etc.), injury replacements (E. Sanders), and other positions (G. Minshew). Had difficulty deciding between Aiyuk and Laviska, who were the two remaining top rookies unrostered. We'll see how it goes.

Starting Roster

QB: Lamar Jackson

RB: Christian McCaffrey

RB: Joe Mixon

WR: Tyreek Hill

WR: JuJu Smith-Schuster

TE: Darren Waller

FX: Austin Ekeler

😧 Pittsburgh Steelers

K:  Wil Lutz

Bench

QB: Patrick Mahomes

RB: Jonathan Taylor

RB: J.K. Dobbins

WR: Amari Cooper

WR: CeeDee Lamb

WR: Parris Campbell

WR: Brandon Aiyuk

WR: Mecole Hardman

TE:  OJ Howard

Thinking about dropping Josh Gordon for Wilkins or Royce Freeman as dart throws. Dynasty PPR. Should I?
I didn’t need to drop Gordon, I dropped Gus Edwards, but I picked up Wilkins as a sort of cuff, after just trading for JT. Freeman is owned in my league. (also dynasty PPR)

Also picked him up in FCFS after a trade opened up a couple roster spots, he’s just intriguing even if like you said he’s realistically a deep stash and a long shot. Jared Cook probably benefits the most if we’re being honest, but I can’t squeeze him into my starting lineup yet.

What is Hines’ value in non PPR?  He’s still somehow on my wire as Brown, Snell, and Robinson got taken instead,  I have Kamara as a RB and also Taylor or Mixon to use as my RB2.  Thinking of picking up Hines after watching Mixon put up another meh performance.  Would have to drop Edmonds or possibly Reagor for him though.

I own Kamara and Gordon in redraft, I had both James White and Tev Coleman, cut both to get Brown(LAR) and McKinnon.

Hines was awarded to the Mack owner, in our league if you have a season ending injury you jump the line on waivers, we've been doing it that way for 20 years but BB is always kicked around as an idea. I also grabbed Reagor for upside. I am wheeling Hill-Kupp-Aj Brown which I thought was a solid 1-2-3 but that is looking more and more challenging, Brown has an injury, Kupp doesn't get targets as often now, and my WR 4-Parker seems unreliable at the moment. But I grabbed Reagor for the end of my bench hoping he develops as the season rolls on.

I would grab Hines unless you are loaded RB1-RB4/5 on your bench. If he has another big game I would expect his trade value to increase so you can combo and maybe make a trade.

I wouldn't mind the bolded if it was the backup you were rewarded.  I think in general if it is any player you replace them with that could really turn out bad for the league. Just my opinion and not trying to change your league.

Do yourself a favor, and drop Gordon like a hot potato.  Gordon has been suspended six times since 2013, and missed more than 50 games due to suspension.  Assuming Gordon is reinstated, what are you realistically expecting from him?  He caught seven passes for 139 yards over five games last season with the Seahawks.  He found the endzone as often as I did during that time as well, which is never.  Not exactly mind-blowing numbers.  Some fantasy owners are still salivating over Gordon's 2013 numbers, but that was forever ago.

Oh I don’t own Gordon, I just wanted to make it clear to that guy that I wasn’t in exactly the same situation as he was. I agree with you.

I guess I'm surprised no one has mentioned Peterson once. He has been the no. 4 waiver add in CBS.
One thing about that situation that no one is discussing... Swift out-snapped Peterson and was the goal line option and red zone target with the game on the line. Swift is a sneaky trade target right now as his value could boom in a couple of weeks.

Might be hard to pry away rn, but you never know until you try. I'm waiting two more weeks before I start probing 1-2 / 0-3 teams with feelers.

:oldunsure:

That was some awkward phrasing...
