I think he'll be the most consistent of all the WRs. Obviously Evans/Godwin will likely have bigger games, but also more duds.I didn't see any mention of Scotty Miller. Brady was locked on to him quite often, and we know how Tom loves those lil shifty receivers.
that’s great except he’s owned in 98% of leagues.Hot take: Goedert is better than Ertz
Get him
I have a 12 team league with relatively decent sized bench. Many of us are 28 year vets of Fantasy Football. Hines, MVS, and Goedert are all on the wire. It's a non-PPR, so it's not surprising these guys who've been on and off rosters the last couple of years are available early season. Some of these responses must come from 8 team leagues.
He looked good getting the most out of mostly poor run blocking. His best run was when Miami was backed up near it's own goal line and he broke a tackle behind the line and sped to the sideline for a nice gain. Last year, he didn't look special. Howard will still get GL carries and Breida should get some carries. And Laird who looked good late last year as a receiver out of the backfield, also got action yesterday. Gaskin is the one to own for this week, but i wouldn't count out Breida.Gaskin played 63% of the snaps seemingly out of nowhere. Breida didn't get a carry till 6:40 left in the second quarter and played only 14 snaps (23%). Howard played 9 snaps (15%).
The game wasn't out of hand, and I don't think the offense was doing anything gameplan specific. They just seemed to think Gaskin was their best option, at least judging by the stats.
Didn't see the game and would love to hear more about Gaskin from those who did. Guy doesn't even have a thread ... only mentioned a few times in some of the prospect analysis threads.
MVS I understand, but not for Goedert and Hines. I'm in 8 dynasty leagues and neither are on the wire. So, unless your roster size is less than 22 in a 12 team league, I find it unlikely those two are on the waiver wire in 99.9% of leagues.I have a 12 team league with relatively decent sized bench. I have been in leagues like this, and my strategy was to allow teams to burn through their FAAB on speculative players in the early going, then when injuries hit later in the season, I held the edge in the free agency market. I have not yet watched Gaskin from yesterday's game, and perhaps I am misjudging his potential, but I am not going to spend that much of my budget on him. Jordan Howard injured his hamstring, prompting the Dolphins to turn to Gaskin, but I don't anticipate this is a long-term injury. Let your leaguemates blow their budget on Gaskin.I was thinking of at least 30% on Gaskin, in my league week 1-3 is always nuts, last year we had 3 different players go for 50%+ of the annual FAAB!
I may even be lowballing my 30% thought for Gaskin.....not many other RB's on the wire worth the gamble in a 16 team league.
As of right now, this feels right to me too, though I'm keeping an open mind about Gaskin. Howard supposedly injured his hamstring, but the Cameron Wolfe tweet announcing it was later deleted. Howard also had the goalline run late in the game, so perhaps he wasn't that injured?I have been in leagues like this, and my strategy was to allow teams to burn through their FAAB on speculative players in the early going, then when injuries hit later in the season, I held the edge in the free agency market. Also, noted on twitter:“I tell him like I tell all the other players, their role is going to be what they make it, so if you go out there and you continually make plays and handle your responsibility and you’re someone we can depend on, we’re going to find a role for you,” Flores said last month. “I think Myles has done a good job of doing everything he can off the field, on the field to make himself the best player he can be.”
It's plausible to me that Gaskin passed Breida for the pass-catching / third down role, especially considering Breida didn't catch many passes in SF either. It's also plausible to me (and hinted at in the article I posted above) that Flores has roles in mind for all of his backs instead of just using one guy, and this will be a giant mess.Chris Kouffman @ckparrot
Dolphins were in 11-personnel 61% of snaps yesterday, doing their most successful running out of that personnel grouping at 4.3 YPC, exclusively with Myles Gaskin & Matt Breida. Jordan Howard’s run plays were exclusively behind fullback Chandler Cox and/or double-TE personnel.
There seemed to be some confusion yesterday - seemed like the team announced that Howard hurt his hamstring, although it turned out that a mistake was made and it was really Parker.I have been in leagues like this, and my strategy was to allow teams to burn through their FAAB on speculative players in the early going, then when injuries hit later in the season, I held the edge in the free agency market. I was unaware of the injury confusion. Sorry if I misspoke on Howard's injury status. I agree, this is a wait-and-see in any event. Whether it was prompted by injury or otherwise, Gaskin made good on his opportunity. Still, I am not inclined to invest very heavily in Gaskin, as he is at best a part of a three-headed RBBC in a subpar offense. There seemed to be some confusion yesterday - seemed like the team announced that Howard hurt his hamstring, although it turned out that a mistake was made and it was really Parker.
Not sure what the real skinny is, but it may not have been Howard's injury that opened the door to playing time for Gaskin. I agree that Gaskin may be fool's gold because Howard and Breida are there, but there also may be something with Gaskin. We'll probably have a better idea over the next few weeks.
Fair points. One potential positive is that Gaskin can be the pass-catching specialist. Despite his speed/size, Breida has not been a big pass catcher and we know Howard certainly isn't. May open up a role for Gaskin for a team that may need to throw the ball a lot and doesn't have a lot of receiving options (even more so now with Parker hobbled).I was unaware of the injury confusion. This certainly perks my ears up in PPR formats. Gaskin has neither the speed of Breida nor the power of Howard, so he needs something to distinguish himself in this rotation. If he can carve out a receiving role, he could offer some PPR value.Fair points. One potential positive is that Gaskin can be the pass-catching specialist. Our roster size is 16 spots. I still consider that relatively deep for a bench (7 spots). We start QB, 2 RB's, 2 WR's, 1 Flex, 1 TE, a DST and a Kicker.MVS I understand, but not for Goedert and Hines. I'm in 8 dynasty leagues and neither are on the wire. So, unless your roster size is less than 22 in a 12 team league, I find it unlikely those two are on the waiver wire in 99.9% of leagues.
Losing VDE has nothing to do with Smith getting more time. LVE is a middle LB. They play two totally different spots as Smith is an edge rusher that is listed as DE in most set ups so he won't help you as a LB. Aldon is a great pickup though as it looks like he is going to get a lot of run.IDP: Alden Smith looked amazing, and losing VDE, he should be a 3-down LB. 10 tkl & a sack today. Nice pickup if ya need a cheap LB.
Even with a 16-team league, I feel 30% of your budget on a guy like Gaskins is a bit much. I'd scour the box scores and try to find someone else to buy low on, unless your desperate for immediate RB help of course.I was thinking of at least 30% on Gaskin, in my league week 1-3 is always nuts, last year we had 3 different players go for 50%+ of the annual FAAB!

Please stop. Goedert is rostered in 55% of ALL Yahoo leagues, and he is available in my short bench (14 total, 6 bench spots) Yahoo league. Yeah, I'm a guppy for playing in a Yahoo league, but I enjoy it and it's with coworkers who vary in their commitment to a fantasy game. I'm also in deep bench dynasties and redrafts at MFL where he is long gone. There is no need to be judgmental, or debate the merits of leagues - if it doesn't apply to you, just ignore it.that’s great except he’s owned in 98% of leagues.

Scotty doesn’t know
Unfortunately he’s a LB in CBS, where I play IDP.Losing VDE has nothing to do with Smith getting more time. LVE is a middle LB. Kind of went off the rails pretty quick thereThis thread is marvelous
Disappointing that it went so far off the rails so quickly. There are a lot of different sizes of FF leagues. This thread is marvelous
I was racing around at 12:55 in some leagues sliding gameday inactives to IR then adding Scott Miller so I wouldn't be relying on waiver wire priority this coming week. In another league I'm going to be making an uncomfortable cut (probably Mattison) to add Shenault.Disappointing that it went so far off the rails so quickly. mattison is a tough drop. League-winner if Cook goes down.I was racing around at 12:55 in some leagues sliding gameday inactives to IR then adding Scott Miller so I wouldn't be relying on waiver wire priority this coming week. Speaking only for myself, I only (accurately) said a player was rostered in the majority of leagues. It's cool to play different types of leagues. It's never alright to be a tool.
Yep. I drafted him, Edmonds, and L Murray specifically for that purpose. But also knowing that I was likely dropping one in September.mattison is a tough drop. League-winner if Cook goes down.

I wasn’t being a tool. I didn’t say anything other than that. It was a matter-of-fact statement.
that’s great except he’s owned in 98% of leagues.
Joe Thomas is the guy that went in for LVE. He is the guy that looks to benefit with more playing time. Besides him Sean Lee is still around but he is on IR and isn't eligible to return until after week 3. I probably would look elsewhere if you need LB help after losing LVE. Jerome Baker (although he is likely owned in most leagues) had a huge week and should continue putting up IDP stats in that Dolphin Defense. Hewitt for the NYJ should be a decent add if you are desperate.Unfortunately he’s a LB in CBS, where I play IDP.
he’s even better as a DL.
i didn’t mean he’s going to replace VDE. I just think that by DAL getting thinner at LB he will be kept on the field more.
It’s an opinion. I have one. You also have one. There we are.
I was super disappointed to discover that he was a LB in CBS.Smith is strictly a DE in the Cowboys 4-3 scheme so the LVE injury won't affect his play time at all since he is not a LB for Dallas.
Yeah I would like to hear what Miami fans think of him and the RB competition in Miami right now.Gaskin played 63% of the snaps seemingly out of nowhere. Breida didn't get a carry till 6:40 left in the second quarter and played only 14 snaps (23%). Howard played 9 snaps (15%).

Interesting, no?"In 10 games since the Mo Sanu trade last year, Russell Gage has averaged 7.8 targets per game."
Logan Thomas aka LT3:
- 52 of 70 snaps
- 24 slot, 4 out wide
- Led team with 26% target share
Interesting, yes. But seems like a typically inconsistent 3-wide WR stat-wise.I also thought Gage was a one week wonder, but then I saw this from ETR's Adam Levitan on Twitter:
Interesting, no?
Calvin Ridley missed 3 of those games (and got hurt during a 4th), and Julio Jones missed 1 of them (and got hurt during a 2nd).I also thought Gage was a one week wonder, but then I saw this from ETR's Adam Levitan on Twitter:

Could be huge. I think Parris Campbell played as many or more snaps as TY Hilton.Ownership percentages per MFL:
Campbell 59.5%
Ryan threw it 54 times for 450 yards. I can't imagine that's sustainable.Interesting, yes. But seems like a typically inconsistent 3-wide WR stat-wise.
Gage has only one TD in his career...and 40% of those 10 games w/o Sanu have been complete duds: 5/27/0, 2/17/0, 2/32/0, 4/23/0.
With that Atlanta defense... it's going to happen more than you think.Ryan threw it 54 times for 450 yards. I can't imagine that's sustainable.
My WW WR target this week.Could be huge. I think Parris Campbell played as many or more snaps as TY Hilton.
I would think Snell. Wasn't there talk of Samuels possibly not even making the team?Is Snell or Samuels the call here? I assume Snell.
