Week 3 Raiders @ Bronco's game thread (1 Viewer)

1) He isn't willing the Bucs to a victory they weren't worthy of without him

2) He is willing the Raiders to win and bringing the MUCH needed discipline
Don't feel like arguing, 10x, as I agree with you somewhat. Gruden was obviously the key...but give the players a little more credit than that. They were worthy of the crown last year. You aren't giving the defense any props by saying that.
Only have one Question for you Capper, why didn't they ever win it before Gruden?
Ummm...it's not exactly easy to win the Super Bowl dude. Before Gruden, they made it to a NFC Championship Game (and were hosed) and made the playoffs four years out of five.

As I said, Gruden pushed them over the edge, but give the players some credit. They weren't exactly bad before he got there.

Griifin missed a huge hole if he would have cut back. That's how MA got his nice run.

Sweet heavens, the Raiders suck. What is with that gimmick play??? Granted, Rice has as much claim to be the QB as Gannon right now, but please.
Um...dude? They're down by three touchdowns. If there is any time to try a gadget play in a desperate attempt to put points on the board, this is it.
Huh? How about running some conventional plays that they practice every week and are used to running in game situations? I don't call down by three TDs "gadget time." It's more like "time to run your normal offense and score."

Down by 3 TDs late in 3rd quarter with your offense not doing a damn thing?Yeah, gadget time.

Yet again....dude? The conventional plays they run in their normal offensive set weren't doing squat for the last 3 quarters. Why continue with what's not working?

I've never said the players weren't good, but you've gotta agree that they don't get over the hump with Dungy leading them. Without Gruden they continue to make the playoffs, but they don't win the Superbowl.Or maybe I'm just overrating both the importance of a graet coach and coach Gruden himself.

1) I agree Gruden pushed them over (as I've said)2) I disagree they weren't WORTHY as you said. They were plenty good, just not quite good enough. Just semantics, no big deal.

Heh, sure thing, whatever. Next time a team is down by a couple or three TDs I'll expect to see nothing but flea flickers, WRs tossing to eligible tackles, and other plays that you probably dig. :excited: Hey, Tui's in. I think he should line up as a WR for a few plays just for fun. Might catch the Broncs napping, much like that brilliant Rice to Brown throw!

Two guys in my league are fighting for the win with Rice and Brown. That TD pass would have been pretty funny
Same two guys....the one with Tim Brown is looking like he will lose by 1.6Guess who his RB is: Henry. He will lose because of the INT :excited:

You're right, unworthy was too harsh a word, my bad

Sounds about right.

Way to get your receiver killed tuisuckoposorry, couldn't help myself  :P
why the hatred for Tui?
Gannon helped me to my best fantasy season ever last year, there's a soft spot in my heart for him
i had him last year as well.but as a raider fan i can't tolerate his performances so far this year.even though tui got picked, at least he tried to make some plays and looked more comfortable in the pocket.it's not all on gannon, but 70%.

Best quote of the night:

"The refs missed a few. We were going for 500."

- Madden when told that his team led the NFL for yards penalized (388) after 3 games.

this is the greatest win of my fantasy career. :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
I'm not feeling too bad about this one either, as I get exactly what I need for my primary team (5-point win) and my secondary team (1-point win), even without Portis doing much for the primary team. Plus, he's fine. My biggest worry is that Tim Brown was supposed to be my #4 WR this season, stepping in during bye weeks, and now I have the first one of those coming up with KRob. Derrius Thompson, here I come? Shoooooooot. Hope everyone enjoyed the AutoTrader.com postgame doppler effect demonstration.

Oh well - not TOO worried about Portis because I handcuffed M Anderson to him. :hot:
Me too, but now what about Griffths? Denver RB is a hell of a position, but I've already got StL QB burning 2 slots on my bench. Criminity.

:rotflmao: rofl, isn't it only week 3?
i meant more than just this year dummy.i think this is the first time i've ever won in the last minute of the monday night game.

Concur; that's my situation as well. Hmmm. I'm not worried about Portis and I bet MAnderson will be okay as the week goes on. I started carrying only one kicker and one defense this year (should have done that long ago :brush: ), so I have some roster room. I still need to dump Chapman.

This is truly the best night I have had in a couple years...a big win in FF, AND seeing the Raiders get SPANKED at the hands of the Broncos!!!!!WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! :D ;) :P   :) :excited:

I know what you meant, but no matter the margain, no regular season win could ever come close to the same excitement I get with winning a playoff game. Remember the Derrick Brooks TD at the last minute against the Rams in week 3 last year? Won the game for me, I was jumping all over the place. Doesn't come close to winning round 1 of the playoffs no matter the margain.I don't know, that's just me.

Yeah...its the little things in life that make it all worth living.......but may I add....THE GOMER RAIDER FAN in our league needed TWO lousy pts going into tonight's game...and he had Gannon AND Rice going.......HE LOST!!!GOD...life is GOOD!!! :rotflmao:

but if you're up big (or down big) isn't it a bit anticlimatic? sure it feels great but not the sudden rush from despair to elation of a last second play.i'm still rolling that it was my boy tui who did it. irony always likes to give me a kick in the balls at least once a week.that's sort of catchy, that may be my new sig. :o

just saw the promo for next weeks game and was thinking the only thing better thanA Vikes beat the Packers at their houseB Cardinals beat Packers to send them to 1-2C Bears beat Packers next Monday night on National TV. :P It could happen !!!
Amen brother! GO BEARS!!What happened to Garner tonight? Was he just another casualty of Oakland's pathetic offense?WHY OH WHY DID I START GARNER INSTEAD OF TIKI??? :wall: Stupid me, I thought Monday night rivalry would be good for his numbers. Not that I lost, mind you. Once Priest plays, all the rest is pretty much just gravy  Although I must say, his effort yesterday was a bit disappointing. I mean, what good is a guy that goes out after only 3 quarters? I'm going to have to have a talk with that young man. A talk about motivation. He dragged his average down to 27 or 28 this weekend. Oh well, I guess maybe if I bench him for a week or two then he might learn his lesson. :rotflmao: By the way, did I mention GO BEARS!!!!

Same situation here, 'cept my opponent had gannon, rice, AND smith. Smith got thrown out and I'm thinking things are looking really good. Took 2 1/2 quarters for him to finally get the 11 points he needed to beat me in a very generous scoring league, and he ended up with 13. He shoulda had 40 with those three. Great night for Rice to actually get a few yards. Grrrrr.... :hot:

None taken. :) I won't rehash an argument I had preseason, but in my scoring system, a wide receiver needs 70 yards receiving or a TD or 6 receptions before getting any points while a QB needs 250.It is HEAVILY TD-based with performance points for above average performances.Keeps our scores down, which I like, but without being ONLY based on TDs.
