Week 3 Waiver Wire Defense (1 Viewer)

For those of you playing "streaming" defense, what teams/match-ups are you looking at next week?

Here are some I'm mulling over:

Buccaneers at Cowboys

Bills at Browns

Jets at Dolphins

With the Buccaneers defense imploding yesterday, and my complete and utter lack of faith in the Jets offense to control the clock, I think I'll be going with the Bills this week. It's not very imaginative, but it seemed to work out OK with Cincinnati in Week 2.

Cincinnati did ok for me, but I should have held on to Buffalo, who scored 20 points vs. 10 for the Bengals in my league.. I am putting in a waiver claim on Buffalo instead of just waiting until after waivers clear to pick someone (something I never do for waiver wire defenses). After looking through the available defenses in my league, nearly all of the teams with good matchups are taken.

My backup options are...

Arizona vs. Philly (not a great option at all, but Arizona's defense has been solid so far)

Detroit vs. Tennessee (someone dropped them, but they haven't shown much so far)

Other than that, it's teams playing top offenses.

This is the kind of week you dread when you play the WW defense game.

The Lions are not available in my league, if they were I might even consider them over the Bills. The Titans are an absolute mess right now.

I'm thinking about the Browns as a possibility. They just got 6 sacks in a road game and Fitzpatrick can usually be counted on for throwing a few questionable passes every week.

I'm sold on the Browns as a stream worthy option...but not until Haden is back. The secondary play without him was abysmal.

Cincy is on the do not start vs. anybody list.

I don't trust the Bills. Yet. Their offense was the culprit week 1, but KC just laid an egg yesterday. Would rather look elsewhere.

Not been impressed at all by Detroit's defense yet, and they're on the road against an angry Titans team. Not a bad play, but I don't feel good.

Washington, either defense in Jets/Fins, and Arizona is my wish list.

I like a very talented Arizona D at home vs a turnover and injury prone Vick
You know, initially I shyed away from this matchup because the Eagles offense can put up some points. But keeping in mind what Cardinals did to the Patriots, and Arizona's upcoming schedule following this game (Dolphins, @Rams, Bills, @Vikings), I think I'm going to go this route.

AZ is the ticket to ride. Great schedule and honestly they might end up being matchup proof and being a D you can just play every week. This year's Houston?

Outside the box pick: Saints DST vs Chiefs, in the Dome in NO.I think I'm doing this one.
The Saints defense has been about as bad as it can get the first two weeks.
Agreed. I could never find a way to start the Saint's D against anyone.
Look, I know, I know, I've seen every play of preseason and games 1 and 2, plus a few days of training camp live, but this is looking like a get-better game for the Saints' D.The Bills' D gave up 48 to the JETS for cryin' out loud and came back to put up 20 FF vs KC points in my league. The Falcons' DST pulled in 3 sacks, a DFR, and 2 INT's.

Bro, do not do this! I've had them for two weeks and I'm not trying to be a wise ace here, but I think some of the better high school teams in Texas could score on them. They are abysmal!

I agree that CIN should get kicked to the curb. They underperformed against the Browns, only having a good day because of the TD. I actually don't hate Washington on the other side of next week's matchup; the Bengals gave up a lot of sacks yesterday.

Arizona is a strong pick, but feels a bit fools-goldy. Maybe St. Louis at Chicago, given no Forte and a very vulnerable Cutler? I don't really see any lock-tight picks this week.

WAS lost two key players on D, and the difference was night/day once they went out. I don't like them against anybody at this point.

You guys are making me think with Arizona. Looking at the past two games, the Eagles have given up good defensive numbers to their opponents, and Arizona is clearly not a weak defense considering how well they played against the Patriots.I think the Bills may be the better play this week, but the Cardinals may be worth taking a shot on, since it's possible they could be a weekly play. Plus, you always get the added benefit of a possible Peterson return for a touchdown.

grab the cardinals if available. if not go for the 49ers. I think they are a solid play this week.
Just my luck. They are already owned in my two team league.

That's the tiebreaker for me, but I'll probably use Buffalo's availability as insurance and wait for them to clear waivers before claiming them. I seem to be the only player steaming their defense in my league this year.

Yeah, they were good for me this week, but I'll be dropping now.I'm looking at Zona. They'll probably give up a bunch of points, but the Eagles look good for TOs.Also, the Seahawks have been dropped in both my leagues. They could be interesting.

How about the Rams at Chicago

I usually try and stick with home teams but they should bet ALOT of pressure on Cutler.

yeah, it's an away game for philly, and I think they'll be missing their center, LT, and maclin.

I like two defenses:

Arizona vs. Philly

Jets at Miami

Arizona has a very good defense and Philly historically plays bad in Arizona. Philly also just lost 1, if not 2 offensive linemen, and Maclin might not play either. Even if Philly scores, I see sacks and see turnovers.

I have a claim in on the Packers, but I might withdraw it. I have the available defenses in my league (yardage allowed and points allowed count) ranked as:

1. Packers

2. Lions

3. Cardinals (they are close to 1 or 2, though, considering their upcoming schedule)

4. Dolphins

5. Cowboys

Arizona has a nice schedule after Philly. Philly will put up yards and points so if you get big penalties for those it may hurt you this week. Sacks and turnovers could be big. Should even out this week but after that:

4 Mia

5 @StL

6 Buf

7 @Min

Not too bad from what we've seen so far.

Yup. I'm actually putting a decent-size bid on them as I think they can be a D to ride out the rest of the season. Based on what they did to Pats IMO they are matchup proof.

I decided to go with Arizona, with Detroit as my backup option. I am a little nervous with it, but the thought of them possibly being a play for the next three weeks made it worth the risk.

How about the Rams at Chicago

I usually try and stick with home teams but they should bet ALOT of pressure on Cutler.
I've got a waiver claim in on Arizona, mainly because I think they'll be useful for the next several weeks as others have mentioned, but for this week only, I really considered the Rams. Last weeks Bears/Packers debacle almost reaffirmed the "start any defense against the Bears" motto from 2010.

People are getting ahead of themselves. That Thursday night game was a short week, on the road against a division rival. This week is in Chicago after 10 days rest with plenty of time for Cutler and Marshall to watch film on just how bad they played. I expect something closer to week 1 Bears than week 2.

I'm gonna go with Mia at home vs nyj. I think the real jets showed up this Sunday vs Pitt. And Miami d is actually solid.

Hmm, didn't even have to bid. They made it through Waivers. Why thank you, I will take them for no waiver rank cost.

So your willing to say that the Saints can get better after getting blown up two weeks in a row, but the Bills can't get better after all there pieces start playing together better?

I'm thinking Arizona as well, also the Cowboys are available but I'm thinking zona is the way to go..FBG has the 'boys ranked 3rd overall this week.. any thoughts guys?

I ended up getting the Cardinals on my waiver wire claim, but I'm having second thoughts. Someone dropped the Cowboys and the Bills are also still available.
