Week 4 Waiver Wire Picks (1 Viewer)

I'd have to say Lamar Miller might be a really nice pickup especially if Bush is down for a while. I think D. Thomas is fools gold and if Miller and Thomas were in the backfield together for a bit that Miller would rise to the top. Miller looks to have some talent and he was a choice of this staff and they've really liked what he's done (from what I've read).

Where available of course...

Ponder

Locker

Hill

Powell

Daniel Thomas

Daryl Richardson

Simpson

Edelman (pending injury report)

Hilton

Tate

Jared Cook

Ben Myers

Dreessen

Jason Hanson

Zuerlein

Cards DST

Heath Miller if he is still available
Boy he shouldn't be; I do remember that FBG had a write up on the upcoming PIT TE that was Heath's replacement, and that he was a good stash, but I believe he got hurt (I would love to remember his name) - after he was out of the picture PIT kinda recommitted back to Miller. I think the only TE that is on the WW is Rosario, with possible long-term value, and that depends on how "done" Gates is.

Since it was on Thursday don't want anyone to forget about Ramses Barden. I own Nicks and I dont think there are any guarantees on him playing this Sunday.

Playing the debate game with Choice, MIA RB's Miller and Thomas, Denver RB's Ball or Hillman. How would you rank them and why??

My problem is I hate to burn a #2 WW priority spot on any of these RB's if they are just short-term fill-ins, especially if it's on a team that doesn't have a high caliber offense to begin with.

Miami may not be "high caliber" across the boatd, but they CAN run the football effectively. I opt for Miller. Can make things happen from anywhere on the field, on any given touch.

Maybe but I don't think so. I thought whomever I'm thinking of was a rookie at the time; he would be a second year (or possibly a third year) player now.

That is a solid pick right there; Jacoby Jones looked good last night but he has to be in WR4 range long-term.
I passed on Jacoby last week but will probably dive for him as a WR 4/5. Zona defense if still available

For me, this is one of those weeks where I allow others to pickup players, while I work on getting a better priority. There is so much to take a shot on in the first week or two, that I'm buried in the order in my league that still use a standard ww.

I don't really see any great options in my leagues.

He is somehow available in my big $$ league (12 teams)...don't ask me how, but he is my top priority for me this week. Big Ben has been quoted as saying he wants to get his TE to the Pro Bowl this year. He may be available in 10 team leagues, or 12 teams if he has slipped under the radar. If he is available in anyone's league, I would be rushing to pick him up this week.

Heath Miller and Fred Davis are WW targets in my league. Both Miami RB's are speculative adds. Tashard Choice is another. AZ defense is out there. Lawrence Tynes is has been $$ so far and also available. Ogletree was dropped prematurely in one league. Ramses Barden is also there for the taking. It should be a bargain shopping day on the waiver wire this week (for somebody). If anyone wants to get into a bidding war, they can have them.

carson palmer? his numbers have been really good so far....is it an illusion or is this production sustainable?

Depends on the team - if you need a one week filler probably Choice. If you don't need a filler and are just looking for upside it's Hillman or Miller. I lean Hillman because of the stronger offense. I'm probably not picking up any of them, my problems are developing elsewhere and unfortunately the waiver options on first glance look bleak - may be looking to trade my RB depth to fix other problems.

The Miami backfield is like thisDaniel Thomas = Thomas JonesLamar Miller = Jamal Charlesexcept both are very young

And his TE (on mobile during lunch, can't remember his name) looks like a productive bye week filler.Kyle Randolph, if he hasn't been mentioned, is another bye week filler who probably is available in shallow leagues.

Most of these guys are not even available in my league. Too bad there wasn't a 14 team league Waiver Wire Target thread.
Yeah maybe there should be 2 different versions of the thread one for shallow leagues and one for deep one. WW strategy is so different depending on league size.

Brandon Myers is the Raiders TE I alluded to upthread. 6th rounder in his 4th year, already has a career high in yardage - but IIRC he's been productive in PPR every week.

TE11 so far this year, def a good bye week candidate if he's not rostered in your league.

Still don't think choice is worth getting.
He's serviceable. He put up decent enough numbers in Dallas and last week he stepped in and did ok.There is nobody on the team they will play ahead of him for at least a week or two. He is not a season long starter, but will definitely put up decent numbers for 2 or 3 weeks if you need him to. Ideally he's a bye week filler.

rudolph is a solid te.. averaging 1.5 td's per week

only downside is hes not receiving downfield action

Palmer is available in my league as is Ponder. Who's the better call here? Ponder looks much improved from last year, but Palmer is putting up decent numbers in fantasy (including tds). Need someone desperately as I have Rivers and Freeman (although Freeman is packing his bags).

I have Palmer as my backup QB, and am going to try to pick up Ponder to replace him as a backup to Vick. I figure with Jerome Simpson coming back, Harvin and Rudolph, Ponder's upside is higher than Palmers. Given that almost all the Raider WR's (Moore coming off hammy - healthy, DHB-neck & concussed, Ford-IR, Criner-ankle, Streater-eye, have something or other, and even their starting TE Myers is concussed.

this was my situation as I also have rivers. Ponder was already rostered. I just picked up palmer and am debating playing him over rivers this week...

BUT .... Myers was hurt yesterday - not sure if concussed but need to monitor b4 thinking he is the TE to add this week

:goodposting:You're right, he was concussed late in the game. I did not know that, thanks.

Tashard Choice (Spiller to get med tests on shoulder and FJax's Week 4 status questionable)AZ D/ST if it's still on the waiver wireTY Hilton (4-113-1 on 8 targets today and Collie's return didn't last long)Armon Binns (only 3 targets today but caught all 3 and scored a TD with @Jax, Mia, @Cle upcoming)Who else?
How much was Hilton used? I premptively picked hm up this week then dropped him. Was he used on returns?
Avery was used as WR2 and Hilton as the slot recv.Hilton was used on returns.

Maybe not but it would depend on parameters. A guess but I would put Heath at the 8-15 TE level; maybe higher with Witten, Davis, and Gates struggling.

Think a big one that is missing is Lance Ball. If Mcgahee's injury is hampering, Ball has that job.
THAT is not clear at all.Moreno was a healthy scratch yesterday (and I don't know if there was a reason or what it might be) but to me if McGahee can't go it looks like a committte with Ball, Hillman, and Moreno

Hankerson was just announced a starter for the rest of the season even when Garcon returns.
Link? Saw earlier today it was probably Morgan since he was playing Z and Hank was in the X.
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan stated Monday that Leonard Hankerson has played well enough to earn a full-time starting job going forward.Hankerson will start at X receiver until Pierre Garcon (foot) returns, and then likely kick over to Z receiver, replacing Josh Morgan. Although Hankerson didn't light up the box score in Week 3 against the Bengals, he secured four of his seven targets for 56 yards and was an impact blocker in the run game. Through three games, Hankerson has six grabs for 124 yards and a touchdown. He should be owned in the heavy majority of 12-team fantasy leagues.

IMO...ranking the possible FA RBs discussed

1. Ryan Williams...that team is good and Beanie dinged a bit again. (only if someone was dumb enough to drop him...someone did in our league and Im pissed I did not pick him up right away...now fighting the WW for him)

2. Lamar Miller...talented young kid and Bush has trouble staying healthy...another team better than expected.

3. Choice...tough schedule coming up, but could be a good start against NE next week.

4. Powell...just hate that team running the ball right now and not sure he is ever a feature back this year...Greene will still get carries.

Some people may have cut bait on Ryan Williams...
I know an idiot in my league that did, it was me.
Based on fbg waiver report advice, of course. I am noticing that they are way too quick to dismiss players. Especially rbs in a season where there are so few quality ones available. Def grab Ryan Williams if he is on your wire. He has serious talent an can develop into a nice flex option over the course of the season. If he doesn't it was still worth the gamble with a bench spot. How bout this one: Jamie Harper, javon ringer, or Darius Reynard. ONE of these guys is going to supplant CJwaiverwireK soon. There is no way that munchak can let these types of performances continue. He HAS to give some o his other backs a chance to see if its the line or CJ's fault. I know the line sucks but something tells me that any 3 of those rbs would avg over 3ypc given CJ's workload. Which doubles CJ's output. Sadly....
As a CJohnson owner I'm starting to think about this. Who is the backup though? Tough to believe TEN can last 8 games with CJ averaging 1.36 yds/carry. Harper or Ringer have to start getting carries eventually.
I'm going to go with the dark horse... Reynaud. I already have him rostered in a return yardage league, and without carries he's producing well since he's been dynamite on special teams. In the preseason Reynaud had some good carries and caught some passes out of the backfield. Ringer will probably get carries if they turn away from Johnson, but Reynaud will get targets and he has the explosiveness to break a few and earn himself a bigger share of the work if he starts getting the ball outside of special teams.Granted he's quite a dark horse, so it probably isn't a pressing need to roster him any time soon, but keep an eye out for it.

Just a heads up, no TEN RB will be able to run behind that OL. Ringer did some nice things vs. lesser rush defenses last year (so did CJ), but he looked just as ineffective.I do like Reynaud as a speculative add in deeper leagues that reward players for KR/PR yards. He also has the infamous WR/RB hybrid tag in yahoo leagues.
