Week 6 Injury Thread (1 Viewer)

Joe Mixon (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.
Texans head coach DeMeco Ryan called Mixon “week-to-week” on Monday. He noted that Mixon was improving, but a DNP today suggests the veteran running back is unlikely to make his return in Week 6. Dare Ogunbowale led the backfield in attempts last week, out-carrying Cam Akers 15-9. With Dameon Pierce possibly returning this week, the Houston backfield may be too messy to extract fantasy value from right now.

Players that didn't practice today include:
QB - Derek Carr
RB - Alvin Kamara, James Cook, Joe Mixon, Brian Robinson, Rhamondre Stevenson, Zack Moss, Trey Sermon, Zamir White, D'Onta Foreman, Gus Edwards
WR - Malik Nabers, Michael Pittman, Rashid Shaheed, Khalil Shakir, Jakobi Meyers, Josh Downs, Rashod Bateman, Robert Woods, Josh Reynolds, Trey Palmer
TE - David Njoku, Mike Gesicki, Tommy Tremble

Is the league just getting more soft each year? It's pretty sad anymore.

Wednesday is a common veteran rest day, can't read too much into it.

Sad because, let me guess, real men play through all pain?

Trey Sermon collarbone

I couldn't find anything definitive on IndyStar, only that it is a collarbone injury and that he didn't practice.

At FantasyPros the only thing I found was - This seems to be a new injury for the young running back, and it's unclear how serious of an issue it is at this point. Indianapolis' running back room may be really thin this week if he and Jonathan Taylor (ankle) are both out against the Titans.

Another site had the following -
Speculation is growing around Trey Sermon’s recent injury, which could potentially sideline him for upcoming games in the 2024 NFL season. Sermon, a key running back for the Indianapolis Colts, was gaining momentum before this setback. Fans and analysts are now questioning how his absence will impact the Colts, who are already dealing with other injuries in the backfield.

Here’s a closer look at Trey Sermon’s injury and what it means for his return to the field.

Trey Sermon sustained a collarbone injury, which led to his absence from practice on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 (via RotoBaller).

The full extent of the injury is still unclear, but it has raised concerns about his availability for the Colts’ upcoming games. Sermon has a history of injuries, including past concussions and knee issues. This recent setback adds to the Colts’ running back struggles, especially with Jonathan Taylor also missing practice due to an ankle issue.

As of now, there is no confirmed return date for Trey Sermon. His status will be closely monitored throughout the week, and the Colts have not provided any definitive timeline for his recovery. It remains uncertain whether Sermon will suit up for the Colts’ Week 6 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.'

I would pick up Goodson. He may end up being the starter this week.

20 seconds ago Indianapolis Colts running back Trey Sermon (collarbone) returned to practice on Thursday after sitting out on Wednesday. With Jonathan Taylor (ankle) sitting out the Week 5 loss to the division-rival Jacksonville Jaguars and not practicing yet this week, Sermon's status is worth watching closely. It's looking like Taylor is on track to miss his second straight game in Week 6 against the division-rival Tennessee Titans, so if Sermon gains clearance from his collarbone injury, he would once again operate as the Colts' primary running back this Sunday, with Tyler Goodson backing him up. The 25-year-old came through for fantasy managers that threw him in their lineups last weekend, carrying the ball 10 times for 38 yards and a score while adding six receptions for 25 yards. If Taylor is inactive and Sermon suits up, he'll be in play as an RB3/flex again against the Titans.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Jordan Mason down on the field holding shoulder/upper chest/maybe ribs area. Came down with a lot of body weight on his elbow in a way that looked like it’d jar the shoulder a good bit. Looked like it hurt but hopefully minor

Edit: back to the x ray room with a shoulder, questionable

Mason back in and just carried the ball. Coach told sideline reporter “he’s good to go”

He came off after the carry and appears to be working his shoulders trying to keep em loose. Guess we will see!

Michael Pittman (back) practiced on Friday.
Pittman was rumored to be a candidate to land on injured reserve with a back injury and hadn’t practiced before today. Now, a Friday practice leaves the window open for him to play in Week 6 against the Titans — at least for now. We’ll see what head coach Shane Steichen has to say about Pittman later in the day, but regardless, this is an encouraging sign for Pittman and his fantasy managers.

I have Robinson shares and will be sitting him out. Last week he didn't play the 2nd half at all. If he suits up, it's TD or bust time.

Commanders HC Dan Quinn said Brian Robinson (knee) will be a game-time decision for Week 6 against the Ravens.

What a weird situation this is. He went from nobody thinking he was hurt, to missing a few weeks with a back injury and now he might play?

WTAH?

Sounds like a bunch of people jumping to conclusions.

You see? It's a mat , you put it down and then you... Jump to conclusions. Get it?

A few years back I remember injury apocalypse similar to this year.
Gotta say, this year is definitely up there in all my many years of playing FF as it relates to the sheer volume of players getting injured.

Bucs head coach Todd Bowles said Rachaad White (foot) will be a game-time decision for Week 6 against the Saints.
White was limited in Wednesday’s practice before being surprisingly downgraded on Thursday. He will be listed as questionable when the Bucs release their final injury report of the week. White had already been ceding work to rookie Bucky Irving before suffering the foot injury. Even if he suits up, it’s safe to assume Iriving’s role as the change-of-pace back isn’t going anywhere. Iriving would vault to the top of the RB2 ranks if White is ruled out before kickoff.

Seems to me we go through this every year. The sky falls every year to some.

Ian Rapoport reported, "QB Anthony Richardson (oblique) is still listed as questionable, but had a good week of practice and with a solid pre-game workout should play today, source said."

Opps....
