Couple thoughts... and keep in mind I generally play in deeper dynasty/keeper leagues where the wire is pretty thin. When a dude like Meredith shows up he goes for 40% or more.
-- Meredith looked good, but Patrick Robinson was awful (and may have torn his ACL at the end of the game). He was whipped repeatedly by Meredith, and also was the CB that gave up Jeffery's 38 yarder. He also filled the wrong hole (and it's painfully obvious watching the replay) on Jordan Howard's long run. All that said, Meredith stepped into White's target share immediately. I do think it's important to keep in mind a couple things with Meredith: 1) -- he's fairly new to being a WR - it's his second year after going undrafted last year, but he switched to WR from QB at Illinois State either his Junior or Senior year. 2) he won't face Patrick Robinson every week. 3) Marquess Wilson is on the PUP and eligible to return to Practice on Thursday (I think -- or next week). I don't know exactly what all of this means for Meredith, and I'd like to have him on a few rosters (but I don't). I could see him really emerging opposite Jeffery, and I could see this being the best game of his career. Athletically, he's basically Tyrell Williams redux.
-- Torrey Smith and Dwayne Washington seem to be getting cut a lot... I'd personally roster Washington as I'm not that concerned about Forsett (who looked done in Baltimore). Forsett feels like Riddick insurance to me and a mentor to the young guys. Washington's by far the best suited to be the interior RB the Lions are searching for. As for Smith -- Kaepernick brings a big arm to the table for Chip, and unlocks more in the running game than Gabbert did. I think we see more option runs, zone reads, etc. What killed Kaepernick in late 2014 and early 2015 was defenses crowding the LOS with 9 or 10 guys and daring him to throw... run, run, run deep strike to Smith is probably the recipe here for Chip. Smith's a good player, even if he is somewhat of a 1-trick pony. It's a pretty nice trick. I'm not rostering him yet, but he's on speed dial.
-- Breshad Perriman should be owned - I'm not sure what Smith's status is, and there's not been a lot of information. Without him, we're probably looking at Perriman starting opposite Wallace. Greg Cosell thought Perriman had some Julio Jones to his game as a prospect, and he missed his entire rookie year, so this is essentially his first go round. Curious to see how he develops the rest of the way.
-- Justin Hunter got his first PT with the Bills and scored. It was a broken play, but Hunter can get deep and win jump balls. Robert Woods is a limited player IMO, and I'm not sure Goodwin is anything more than a sprinter. I'm not willing to write off Hunter's career based on failures in the dumpster fire of TN (at least for WRs) and Miami (I'm not convinced they have a clue what they're doing, plus their WR depth chart is fairly full). Someone to keep an eye on with no Watkins in BUF.
-- DJ Foster started to see some snaps in New England. We don't know what Lewis' status is, and the whole thing has been so covered up, who knows what's going on. He's walking without a limp, supposedly. Well he was practicing in June, and we see how that turned out. James White has the passing down gig for now, but I've never been terribly impressed, and I'm not sure the Patriots have been either. Foster's clearly a guy they like, making the roster as an undrafted FA after missing a good chunk of camp. I don't think he played the first few weeks likely due to pass pro issues (I don't think they wanted any extra pressure on Garrapolo or Brissett), but Brady can diagnose the blitz and can get rid of the ball. Foster could've scored twice against Cleveland -- he was tackled at the 1, and he was left uncovered on one of Bennett's TDs. He's getting a taste of some PT -- and important snaps in the red zone at that. Would be just like Belichek and the Pats to unleash an UDFA unknown on the league while everyone waits for Lewis to return.
Also, on a bye this week, but I mentioned Cordarrelle Patterson last week and still think he should be rostered in deeper leagues. He missed a chunk of Sunday's game but still scored, posted 4-39-1 with another 7 yards rushing. They're getting him touches and starting to use him creatively, and this is one of the best athletes in the league. I think he also was tackled just short of a second TD in this game vs. Houston. Diggs is the 1 here, but Patterson is becoming a weapon -- we all remember that run he had back in 2014 when they actually fed him touches and he started breaking them. If he keeps getting 6-8 touches a week, some big weeks are coming.
