What are your guys thoughts this week?

Minn at home vs. Arz

ATL at home vs. TB

NO at Carolina

Just a few to throw out there.....

Oak at home vs KC.

Chiefs don't get sacked often, but it's tough in the black hole and Oak is playing really good D right now. KC couldn't score against Buff.

Best option has to be Minnesota right? Arizona is atrocious, although Derek Anderson is probably better than Max Hall. Watching Max Hall is just hilarious, the dude is not even close to being an NFL caliber QB.

Minn would be my first choice this week, plus they have the Bears week 10..

New Orleans is away in Carolina, Just saying, might still be a good matchup
I have Titans on bye and Saints are available. I havn't watched any Panthers games, are they still a mess?
The Panthers are still a mess, but moving the ball better. They usually show up to play against New Orleans.

This has the potential to be a low scoring game/defensive battle.

It does. KC even scored point at Indy and even though the BUF game at home looked like a bad matchup the Chiefs DST still put up a good game.

I'm rolling with the Vikings the next two weeks because they are my best option. However if New Orleans is there for you I think they are the better pick this week. Last week I rolled with the Rams against Carolina and they didn't let me down and I think NO has a better defense

I have Oakland but I'm very concerned about starting them against KC this week. KC has a strong offensive line, can run the ball and hasn't been making a lot of mistakes on offense lately. Oakland shut down the Seattle run game last week but some of that was probably due to the poor offensive line play of Seattle. Prior to that, Oakland was not very good against the run and I expect KC to be able to run the ball. With the exception of a few weeks, KC has put up pretty good points on offense. I got what I wanted out of Oakland for one week but I'm looking elsewhere this week.

detroit hosting jets?
Detroit has had 2 elite fantasy defence games at home this season. I may roll with them..........I started them last week and they put up nice stats - not sure how many sacks the Jets give up though.

If you need to dig real deep maybe Buffalo against the Bears. Could be some sacks and turnovers in there for the Bills this week.

Buffalo is the worst fantasy defence in my league but they did have 3 sacks against KC. You have to think though with 2 weeks to prepare that the Bears should have their protection schemes in order at least for this game.

I would go with NO at CAR because CAR has been atrocious and I used the RAMS against them earlier and did all right as a bye week fill in so definitely NO also they looked good against a good team last week and maybe they'll start thier ball hawking pick for 6 ways up again and Sharper will be back to his THE MAN status.

Most of these are not on the wire, wish they were! Buffalo is ranked in the top 5 by FBGs, wish I had the balls to start em.
:goodposting: My league:

Lions vs Jets, Cards @ Vikes, Browns vs Pats, Colts @ Eagles, Eagles vs Colts, Panthers vs Saints, Bengals vs Steelers, Bills vs Bears, Texans vs Chargers.

Not a very inspiring list of matchups. Looks like Lions or Bills are the best bets but they are scary starts.

I hope you're right. This has the makings of a great DST WW filler, but we'll see. I see a few turnovers, and if the Saints go ahead quickly, you could see a INT to the house if CAR has to throw a lot.

If McCoy starts at QB for the Browns, New England defense should be solid. Belichick's defenses always overwhelm inexperienced quarterbacks.

FWIW, I just grabbed the Vikings off the ww, and will start them over the Chiefs.

Now that bye weeks are mostly done, I don't mind keeping both rostered.

Next three weeks look to be:

[*]MIN vs AZ

[*]MIN at CHI

[*]KC vs AZ

the panthers are way too bad to not utilize their opponent. NO for sure.
Are the Saints DBs going to be thin again or ok? CAR did pass it around that ONE game two weeks ago with Gettis, LaFell and Smitty. They are almost dead last rushing the ball though.

I have TEN on a bye, I picked up MIN without knowing they play Chicago next week.

If MIN does great, I will have a tough decision to make next week. I took NO in my other league.

" Raiders | Nnamdi Asomugha injury update Tue Nov 2, 10:40 AM

An MRI performed on Oakland Raiders CB Nnamdi Asomugha's (ankle) right ankle Monday, Nov. 1, revealed a sprain, head coach Tom Cable said, reports Steve Corkran, of the Oakland Tribune. The team will not know more until Wednesday, Nov. 3, how severe the sprain is. Cable added that there's a possibility Asomugha will play in Week 9. 'It just appears to be an ankle sprain,' Cable said."

Normally Chicago would be owned in most leagues, but with them coming off of a bye, you may be able to pick this up this week. I dropped them last week for New England and was able to pick them back up this week.

They've been solid most of the year in scoring fantasy points.

Can anyone tell me who they prefer between Pats and N.O. D now and going forward? I'm trying to figure out is it worth burning a waiver on Saints D or trying to acquire Pats on the cheap.

will the Vikings finally get a sack?
If Anderson starts over Hall, is Minn still a good start?I'm thinking they get at least a sack and some turovers. At home, but also wondering how they react post Moss drama, plus possibly no Harvin.... this one seems tougher to call than I might have thought. Anyone have any impressions on this?

I'm facing the same decision here. I'd stick with the Lions (they were my waiver D last week), but the FBG cheatsheet ranking for the Bills is hard to ignore. And as a Bears homer, I don't think it will turn out to be accurate. Bears coming off a bye after an embarrassing performance two weeks ago by Cutler. I think they right the offensive ship—temporarily—at the Bills expense.

My ww currently has - Saints, Lions, Bills, Chiefs and Raiders.

Before reading this thread, I was leaning KC. If they were at home, it would be an easier decision. The Raiders run game is strong and has me worried.

I am starting to lean toward NO, they are getting some dbs back and should be able to establish a lead against the Panthers. I figure Matt Moore is good for at least 2 picks. I wish Bush was back for the punt return game, but still think this is a good matchup for the Saints. I have to say the gambler in me wants to roll the dice on either the Lions or Bills. Not sure I have the guts to pull this trigger though.

My league only counts sacks, points scored by the defense on a turnover, and turnovers.

A few I've looked at:

Minn Defense .9 sacks per game

Texans Defense 1.6 sacks per game

Bills Defense 1.6 sacks per game

Colts Defense 2.0 sacks per game

Falcons Defense 2.1 sacks per game

Chiefs Defense 2.1 sacks per game

Oakland Defense 3.0 sacks per game (but secondary is really hurting now)

Bills Defense v. Bears who give up 4.4 sacks/game and 1.7 Ints/game

Minn Defense v. Cards who give up 3.1 sacks/game and 1.7 Ints/game

Texans Defense v. Chargers who give up 2.6 sacks/game and .9 Ints/game

Colts Defense @ Eagles who give up 3 sacks/game and .6 Ints/game (but Vick is back)

Chiefs Defense @ Raiders who give up 2.8 sacks/game and 1 Int/game

Falcons Defense v. Bucs who give up 2.3 sacks/game and .7 Ints/game

Oakland Defense v. Chiefs who give up 1.1 sacks/game and .4 Ints/game

Vikings don't have a sack in their last 3 games. The Bills have 7 in their last 3 games. Both teams have played teams that don't give up a lot of sacks.

Based on the Bears sacks given up, I think I'm going with the Bills in Buffalo.

But the Colts are interesting as well. Good offense but against Vick, so that's a bit of an unknown there.

Chiefs Defense is also interesting but it's in Oak and the Oak offense has been clicking and could turn into a ground attack.

Gonna take the huge gamble and roll with the Bills.

Merriman might play this week, does he make any difference?
:lmao: You can't be serious.
Why is that funny? Doesn't Merriman have a chance to start immediately for the Bills?
Unless he finds a needle and quick, he will not make a difference.
:lmao: That's why I asked. I normally don't follow news on individual defensive players, so I didn't know what his situation was. Figured someone in the Pool would have an answer.

All I knew was what was in my "Team News" section:

Bills, DST BUF

News: The Bills claimed LB Shawne Merriman off waivers on Wednesday. He will likely get a chance to start immediately for Buffalo.

Kind of late but I'll post anyway. Props to people having the guts to start the Bills. Bears offense is atrocious but that's way too scary for me. I stay away from the bottom 4: Texans, Bills, Broncos, and Jaguars. They simply get destroyed way more often than not. I'm starting Arizona vs Minnesota in one league and Minnesota vs Arizona in the other.

None of these 3 guys should be available:

New Orleans

New York

Chicago

Otherwise:

Minnesota - One of the lowest scoring fantasy defenses this year but they had good competition this year, a lot better than Derek Anderson and company and this is their first home game in awhile. Arizona is so bad they give up way too many fantasy points. Another positive is that they face the Bears next week so you don't have to worry about picking one up for next week.

New England - They failed against the Vikings but not many options out here and they have had big games before so it is possible they could stop the run since they are actually decent at it this year and wait for the rookie to make errors.

Arizona - They are around 11 in FPPG in one of my leagues so they aren't doing too bad despite giving up 38 points to TB. Still walked out with decent points in that shoot out though because of the TD. I don't like the away matchup in the dome and Vikings were good enough to make Patriots D a bad play last week but you don't really have many options now do you? Vikings without Moss look even worse so there is opportunity if they can take out Harvin like others have done in the beginning of the year.

Carolina - I really don't like this one but according to the stats, the Saints are tied with Buffalo in terms of fantasy points allowed. Carolina did have a decent day against them the last time and they have home turf this time. New Orleans isn't exactly lighting it up without the running game and Carolina is middle of the road and not as bad fantasywise as they are in real life. Could see a good day here.

Buffalo - Wow, best matchup out of all of them exception New Orleans and Minnesota so I can see why some people want to gamble but this is kind of insane. You are hoping for the one good game of the year and the Bears are fresh off a bye so I could really see them dominate Buffalo. There's a certain cutoff where I think a bad offense will beat a bad defense and I think Buffalo is just below that cut. Pretty much everyone gets 30 or more points against them except last week for some odd reason.

Oakland at home vs KC and Lions at home against the Jets aren't great matchups but because they have home turf and have been doing well this year, they are a decent play. I wouldn't expect monster games but I could see a decent amount of points with risk of course. Raiders have a great pass D but poor run D and that's the exact opposite of KC's offense that is actually leading in those categories. They are also very good at passing in the red zone which the Raiders are weaker at, especially if their top corner is out. Jets don't really make too many mistakes and I expect them to score big because of last week's poor showing. I'm actually expecting more of a shootout. I liked Atlanta vs TB weeks earlier but I'm more in favor of Arizona now. Atlanta has home game advantage and the bye so I don't think they'll be horrendous but TB isn't bottom tier anymore and more middle of the pack yet they give up little turnovers and sacks. Atlanta also isn't really that hot this year despite getting a lot of turnovers. Last two games made their ranking tank a bit.

Going forward after this week, some of these defenses might be worth holding onto for a couple matchups so that might also help you lean toward a certain defense.

CAR (CLE, SEA, ARI)

ARI (SEA, SF, CAR)

MIN (CHI, BUF, CHI)

ATL (CAR, SEA)

DET (BUF, CHI)

NE (CHI, BUF)

I'd apply some serious leverage to get the Giants this week if there's any way possible to do it. QB's in their first starts are godawful against normal D's. Giants are gonna kill that poor SOB!

Chris Liss tweeted a few days back about how teams should start their backup against the Gigantes D. Looks like Pete Carroll listened!

Personally, I'm grabbing the Lions (GULP!!!) this week. Suh is a difference maker, and I'm HOPING Jets put in a position where they're forced to throw.

And the downside is the Jets put up 24 in their guppy ball control offense?
