I remember reading that they don't play/like Creep because that was a song they wrote because that's what they thought people wanted to hear (during a time when they thought radio play was important to them) rather than something that was the kind of music they wanted to make. Something like that.

How can someone not like King of Limbs? What a wonderful album.

Radiohead didn't stop making excellent music in 1997.
I've yet to come all the way around on it, but Codex is incredible.

ETA: I think the Beatles/BB analogy works.
Except you are still in the middle of the ###### desert....I mean comparing Weezer to the Beach Boys! That's an insult to the Beach Boys IMO.
I meant it as an honor, and sort of did for the reason that every critic I knew in the nineties hated -- I mean, hated -- the Beach Boys, I loved them, and then all of the sudden they and their harmonies were the definition of indie pop. (Think Grizzly Bear, etc.)

But El Scorcho rules the roost for both irony and satisfaction.

I forgot Weezer was still part of the conversation. I was calling Radiohead both the Beatles and Beach Boys of the post-classic era.

The Beach Boys were pretty terrible too.

I heard Radiohead doesn't play Creep live anymore.

Lame.
This is hilarious. Best song they ever did and they hate it.
It got popular with the masses and not just their real fans. Therefore it must be trite.
Glen Frey said he hates playing Take it Easy and some other old ones. Maybe they are just sick of it.
I'm willing to bet they aren't sick of the money still coming in from it....

Song is just very far from where they are musically right now... would be fun to hear it but can understand why they don't play it. Creep hasn't been played since Feb of 1998.

They haven't played a cover song live since 2008.
I love a good unexpected cover song at a concert, so much fun. I get that's not what Radiohead is about.

Yeah certain bands have great signature covers (pearl jam's Rockin in the Free world, or Baba O Riley, for example)... others randomly throw in creative takes on tracks on occasion. I, too, would like to see Radiohead do a cover or two, but I am cool with them sticking to their own material.

Blue Album and Pinkerton are staples of my childhood. Two, perfectly concocted records, start to finish.

Blast away, but these two albums were as important to the 90s as London Calling was to the early 80s.

there's something to this. College basketball is fun. the NBA isn't, even though there's more talent there.

For those who may not be familiar... Radiohead's "From The Basement" series are ####### phenomenal. Pretty much my go-to for late late night wind down videos...

In Rainbows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xq_a8f24UJI

King of Limbs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DvM4GObIN4
I have both of these set to "never delete" on my DVR.
One good thing from this thread - I haven't been listening to nearly enough Radiohead lately.

Weezer too, i guess....

It's like comparing Dave Mathews and Matchbox 20

No.
absolutely, yes.
I dig Weezer but comparing anything they did to London Calling is silly.
Never heard of it.
I bet if you did a poll of 100 random ppl, the vast majority would have no idea who sang london calling.

Id venture so far as to say a good chuck would think it was the Sex Pistol's or something idiotic along those lines.

One is "fun". One has more talent.

When the sun finally comes out and it's warm enough to cruise the streets without snow covering it... Weezer's Blue Album is always in rotation in my car.

Feel album give me the warm n fuzzies and put a smile on my face like that damn record.

Not to mention, "In The Garage" describes a good 90% of this forum, I bet

For the record... I'm just having fun in this thread. While i think Radiohead is the better band, it's apples and oranges and both are damn good.

Radiohead fans are simply smarter than Weezer fans, it's not your fault you guys are having difficulty with the concept

It's just science ;)
