Weird One - Hip Hop, Cursing & Neighbors (1 Viewer)

Been living in my current house almost 10 years.  Recently, every so often, me and the Mrs. hit the garage for about 15-30 mins of exercise.  Some cardio and core work pretty much.  We have a rubber mat, pop the garage open (depends on weather), put on a Pandora hip hop station on the Bluetooth speaker and run a Nike routine on the ipad.  Was about half way thru the routing when I hear someone come up behind me with an "excuse me".  Some drawl talking redneck says his 10 year old son heard cursing and the n-word coming from our music.  I didn't pay much mind to the music, but while he's talking, Notorius B I G is in fact cursing.  I look at him kind of puzzled, cause I have no reply honestly and kind of mumble we'll lower the music.  He says "OK", turns around and walks away.  I've never seen the guy before and it looks like he came from diagonally across the street.  I don't know my neighbors, but maybe he is a visiting dad or a sometimes dad, dropping off his kid...?

We lowered the music an didn't pay much mind, but what is the play here?  His son is a weasel?  It's our private property, mind your business?  We need to respect the volume and tone of what we are playing?  Honestly, I've never had this situation arise.

Thoughts?

I don't see an issue. He asked respectfully and you responded in kind. Classy all around IMO.
appreciate this.  first reaction is to be defensive, but i wasn’t focused on the words or music, just the task at hand.  i think people get very defensive when confronted on neighborhood stuff.

Make a mix of Tim’s OHW list and play that regularly.  That’ll prolly confuse him enough to never speak to you again.

What did you have the music cranked to if he could hear it and make out the lyrics from across the street?

You should've just stared at him and clenched your fist saying "Snitches get stitches" under your breath.

I had something similar. I'm cleaning out my garage. Door open, blasting NWA.  Didn't realize how loud it actually was until a neighbor walked by and stopped.  They were cool and just said it's a bit loud when you walk by.  I mean they heard the lyrics. I walk across the street and could hear it clearly . Turned it down

The music gave you the correct guidance.  This fool stepped to you and disrespected you in front of yo' #####.  Bust a cap in his ###.  Time for this ##### to take a dirt nap.
