Wes Welker Bandwagon for Week 7 (1 Viewer)

Some will say that those starting Welker this week are chasing last week's points. I say it is a good matchup:

1. Miami defense is not good.

2. NE likely to pass more with Maroney and Morris out.

3. Ben Watson out, so Welker more likely to be the underneath target or dump off target (though Faulk will get some too).

4. Miami is Welker's former team. Motivation to play well and word is, Belichick likes to help his players do well against their old teams.

5. Welker knows the Miami personnel and will pass on the intel to NE coaches (won't need cameras this game).

So start him with confidence. I am starting him ahead of Santonio Holmes and Brandon Marshall.

Of course, after week 7, it may be time to sell high after two good weeks in a row.

how is welker possibly a sleeper??
By sleeper, I meant someone that will really outperform projections. Not someone that no one has heard of. Obvoiusly, most decent FFers have heard of Welker. Most sites I have seen have Welker in the WR 30-45 range (though some as high as 25). I think he beats that with ease and that's why I am starting him ahead of guys like Holmes and Marshall, which many sites have in the 10-20 range.

is holmes supposed to have such a great day vs denver?

or even marshall vs pitt?

in ppr I'd start welker a lot of weeks, depending on rosters and format, of course.

it just so happens that I have marshall and holmes, and wish I had welker.

No brainer.

I saw this (season) coming. Couldn't wait to steal him in the draft.

The guy starts nearly every week for me, and currently ranks 7th among WRs in my league.

It's not who he's playin', it's who he's playin' with! And Brady loves him.

in my league he's 6th, a point ahead of ocho cinco.

wanted him in the draft, but some other guy beat me to him.

If you're in a 12 or 14 team PPR league with at least 2 WR start Welker should be a must start every week.
:goodposting: Welker has saved my ### on a team w/ AJ and Walker. I'm not expecting anything like last week, but 7-9 catches for 80 or so is $ in PPR.
Heck even in my non-ppr Welker should be a must start every week. He's the 12th ranked WR so far. He is this year's Mike Furrey. He'll catch 90+ balls from Brady this year. Especially now that Watson may be gone till after the bye, I'm hearing from other threads.

how is welker possibly a sleeper??
Reading the title of the thread, I had this exact thought. I'm glad I didn't have to go past post 2 to find the same sentiment.Next week's sleeper of the week ... Reggie Wayne!

I understand what you're saying and I'm not gonna quibble about semantics and "Sleeper" definitions. I'm starting Welker over Marvin Harrison cuz I don't want to take a chance on a Monday night scratch.

In my PPR league, here is Welker's weekly scoring in order from Week 1:

15, 13, 9, 5, 3

Anyone see a trend there?

Then last week: Boom: 34 pts

So his weekly avg looks great now due to the 34 pts

But the trend was not good before that.

Not making any conclusions, just throwing the numbers out there, I'd expect a good day in PPR against Miami too.

I believe Stallworth and Moss are the plays this week, not Welker. I'm starting Engram over Welker. I guess Welker could just as easily duplicate last week, but I don't think he will. He may have a decent game, but I just think Engram will have a better one. Regardless of what Welker did last week, it boils down to the fact that Brady likes to spread the wealth.

I'd like to see some sort of proof of this comment. Though I would love for it to hold true, I can't think of any instances this holds true.. What do ya got??

He's 10th in my PPR league for me, just behind TO whom I also own. And yet I'm 2-3 with Kitna & LT!!!

I started Roy Williams over Welker in my PPR league. LOL! But would you really bench roy for welker?
Who are your other WR or Flex players that you started over Welker?I started boy Roy and Welker this week at 2 of my 3 wr spots.
12 team league but only 2 WRs on the roster w/ no flex. started chad johnson and roy williams. cotchery, s. holmes, and welker on the bench.

I would have started Chad and Roy as well if that makes you feel any better.
