Westbrook (1 Viewer)

I'm guessing he is sore, will not practice Wed. or Thurs, practice Friday and then be a game time decision. Although that may be going out on a limb.

Actually, he's been practicing on Wed, skipping Thursday, and then practicing on Friday for the last couple weeks. This knee injury is looking like less and less of an issue each week.

Westbrook scored with 0:33 left in the game. As he crossed the goal line, there was not a Buc defender within nine miles of him. In hindsight, he should have stood on the 1 yard line until the last possible second, or run the width of the field ON the 1 yard line, then score with only a few seconds left. I'll bet he wishes he did that.

Just like in Techmo Bowl

Yeah....I can't believe he didn't know that Bryant was gonna kick a 62 yard field goal to win the game for the Bucs..........of course I knew Bryant was gonna kick the 62 yarder cause I started him in my FF league.

So?Then Philly has to kick off from their own 15, but there is virtually no time left.

You are spot on. Maybe he could have saved only 2-3 seconds, but as we have seen numerous times SOMETIMES, even if very infrequent it matters. It amazes me when teams are lackadaisical with their TO's and then they run out of time needing only 3 more seconds to spike the ball or something. People never seem to make an issue of items until it costs them the game. Most of the time it doesn't matter, but sometimes it does.

Right. And who would want to eliminate even the POSSIBILITY of it happening?

Are you seriously criticizing Westbrook because he didn't stand on the 1 yard line and let the clock run?!? I really hope I'm just missing the sarcasm.

Oh please. Have you EVER seen a player stand around at the goal line after a long run for 30 seconds to run out the game clock?

No, of course you haven't because it's ######ed. You score the TD, put your team ahead and trust your defense to hold the other guys for 30 seconds. Too many what ifs could happen if you wait... you could not notice the DB flying down the sidelines and fumble the ball (a la Leon Lett)... you could be flagged for taunting.

Anyway, the point of this thread is that Westbrook is the man, #1 FF RB and showing no signs of slowing down.

Those who weathered the storm with this guy:

CHAMPIONSHIP!

I dont think its a criticism of Westbrook- but it would be a brilliant idea. I dont think its ever been done before. There is a strong chance it would draw a flag, but thats only because the refs are mostly morons. It would be one of those deals corrected by the league the following week- its not taunting to intentionally milk the clock. Again- nobody could expect Westy to think of this after just BULLDOZING the entire Tampa Bay defense.

what he said

It sort of reminds me of when Antowain Smith was on the Bills and he broke a huge run through the line in the closing minutes with the Bills up by one. Rather than score, and allow the opposing team the opportunity to tie the game on a touchdown and two-point conversion, Smith intentionally downed himself somewhere inside the 10. The Bills ran out the clock and won the game.

While Westbrook's play is somewhat different because the Iggles needed a touchdown to win, it definitely wouldn't have hurt to burn a few more seconds off of the clock.

Boy did the ending of that game work out for me.

I'm a diehard Cowboys fan, but I have both McNabb and Westy on my fantasy team.

I get 19 points on one play - and then the Eagles still end up losing the game.

How sweet it was.

That was the point. You could never burn more than probably 5 seconds, but if you could take 3 off, you do it. You don't make a mockery of the situation you just either stand at the goal line or even better run parallel to the goal line and as the guy gets close you stick the ball over. This would not get a flag as you are not taunting the player you are just staying in bounds rather than ending the play. When a punter runs around before taking a safety that is not taunting, it is being smart!

Until the Giants go into the half dome and kick some butt tonight

Wow, freaky that you posted that. Just this afternoon, me and a buddy were talking...pondering whether or not you started both players. He thought maybe you benched BW because of the injury status. But I said, "He'd be crazy to bench him. I bet he started both". Then you posted this! That puts an end to that speculation!

Glad I could make your day suchislife.Try taking life a little more seriously in the future.
Eh, I'm just being a wise-###. I see lots of "nobody cares about your team" replies - just put a sarcastic spin on it. I made myself laugh though. On topic - I've been listening to local sports talk a bit tonight and Westbrook hasn't been mentioned. May not hear much till Wednesday, but so far so good. He'll probably be on the injury report though most (of not all) of the season.

Westbrook:

I called it before the season... I'm calling it now... He's going to go 1,000 / 1,000 for the first time since Roger Craig back in the day.

Totally on track right now.

:moneybag: :drive: :bowtie:

Marshall Faulk did it more recently... But yeah, IF Westbrook can stay healthy, he can get there...
