What’s the penalty here? Halloween edition (1 Viewer)

I still can’t get past the view of “well you idiot, you left your door unlocked. So your wife and children deserved to be raped and you deserved to have all your #### stolen because you’re an idiot.”

interesting world view
bit overdramatized?

All of this.

Because the thing you’re all missing is that it’s not really about the candy at all. These are kids who bring these same attitudes and behaviors with them to everything else in their lives. They are selfish jerks to other kids in school. They are entitled.  In life, when nobody is looking, they’ll take what isn’t theirs and do what they shouldn’t—because they can get away with it.  These qualities are everything that’s wrong with the world today. And it begins with people raising kids totally accepting of that kind of behavior.

Like BB, no way would my kids do that. It would feel too wrong to them, they’d understand it’s like stealing, and it is ruining it for all the kids who come after them, and their moral compass would tell them not to. And, hopefully, they take those same morals and that same notion of respect with them and apply them across their whole lives.

It isn’t about candy.
Time to take a Prozac gramps.  I get that you're upset.  But you are turning into the "get off my lawn" guy

He might very well be turning into that guy, but that does not make him wrong about this either.  Some kids need to be told to stay off of lawns, and if not Oats, then who will do it?

Oats is headed that way.   He's probably not the only one.   It happens.

This. Just like I took up the responsibility of making this place not terrible for a decade, I feel compelled to take up the mantle on combatting morons raising moron children. Because in the end, it’s an important job that not enough people seem willing to take on.

Joe>you’re welcome.

Just hurry up and buy FFA and bring back the yoga pants thread.  The rest is just details.

Took my pumpkins, and the neighbors out to the country for some target practice.  Apparently I need the practice.  Cold and blustery with occasional sleet, but man, I was off.  I guess that comes with age and lack of use.  Still, a fun bit of time.

So these privileged fat kids pillaged our candy bucket tonight. My bad for not putting a stupid TAKE ONE sign, but it’s pretty clear these animals knew what they were doing. Some more diverse kids, probably from the next town over, came afterwards and didn’t get any candy. This isn’t a race relations thing though; it’s a fat kids with no respect thing. Also, minus brain points for being hockey fans

My bad for not bringing the candy bucket in. We had been out trick or treating with our girls, and had just gotten home and were going through the mayhem that is their various bedtime routines. The bucket was completely full when we got home and I just assumed low traffic year and I would take it in after the girls are all in bed.

I hope these beasts end up in juvie where they belong. These guys remind me of a 13 year old Brett Kavanaugh.  You just know he did this

Happy Halloween!
Not so subtle "I live in a white neighborhood" brag.

Also the Otis Is An Upstanding Citizen and Political Analyst shtick is probably the most entertaining thing that other forum has seen in 2 years.

Wow.  So angry.  And amazing you can arrive at this viewpoint from that one incident.

I bet those would look nice wrapped with Christmas lights and garland.  Does Otis do Christmas lighting, or is that a hire out job, or does he and his not celebrate that event?
It's a hire-out job these days.  And you nailed it -- it includes garland and white lights wrapped around the columns :bag:

It might take awhile, but when they die younger due to heart disease/diabetes etc due to their own gluttony, you will then be able to have the last laugh...

This has disintegrated into making fun of Otis's fancy house and columns.

It should be about some ######## kids that have no self-control.  I would bet if you showed to their parents, those parents would say ..."you shouldn't have left all that candy out, don't try to shame my kid ...he's a good kid."

It doesn't always follow, but if a kid can't be trusted to make honorable decisions if he/she doesn't think there will be consequences ...it's usually the parents.

Put it out there on the local neighborhood site.  ####'em.  They did it - take the consequences.

Only read the first and last page. But I knew after reading Otis' initial post, that the majority would blame Otis and absolve the kids of any responsibility for their own actions. Unfortunately that's the world we live in today. No one is responsible for themselves any more. It's always someone else's fault.

How old are your kids?

How old are your kids?
I have one that is 21 and has gotten into all kinds of small problems and one that is 14 and is a ####### princess.

Don't even try to tell me I don't know kids.

ETA:  those kids are obnoxious little ####s, and need to be shamed.

thanks sage.  I really feel like you are someone from which we can learn.

Would you prefer they learn nothing from their theft?
I would love them to learn but it's a set up.  Would you leave a bunch of one dollar bills in a homeless area and say take one?  They know better, right?

You set this con up in 10 different affluent areas next year, I will bet 10k that 90% of the places get the candy taken.

Of course, but I understand his situation, having had 3 little kids with close ages. Young kids and Halloween can be a hard night to close up.
I get that and I had to stop giving out Halloween candy at my house when I told them to take what they wanted.  I was dry 10 kids in and wife took over.
