What Album have you owned the most times? (1 Viewer)

Parmcat

Canada: Beer, Bacon and Beavers
Was going through some old CDs I found the other day. Some of the titles I know I have owned multiple times, from vinyl, cassette and CD. This is mostly because I joined Columbia House many times, and replaced titles over and over.

I think the 3 titles I have owned the most would be:

Bostons greatest hits

Bat out of Hell

Dark Side of the Moon

Et Tu?

"Psychocandy" -- Jesus and Mary Chain.

First cassette was stolen 2 days after I bought it.

Second cassette broke as in the tape literally snapped about a month after I bought it.

Third cassette...the pressure pad/roller pinch thing fell out a few days after buying. Nothing like that ever happened to any of my other tapes.

Took the third one back and the jagoff at the record store wouldn't give me an exchange.

Went to a different store to buy another. I tell the guy "every time I buy this tape something is wrong with it". Neohipster thinks I'm talking about the distortion the Chain used on the album. I squirted anti-static fluid in his eyes and strangled him.

ETA: Bought it on CD too of course.

I think they would be

Wish You Were Here-Pink Floyd

London Calling-The Clash

Excitable Boy-Warren Zevon

Partly because of re-issues and the vinyl, 8-track, Cassette, CD progression and because my apartments were broken into twice and my records were stolen. Once, while in college, the thieves only took the good records and left the crappy ones (like Loverboy and Journey). They were the hippest burglars in history, only owning five-star albums according to Rolling Stone.

Dark Side of the Moon - Vinyl, cd, SACD.

Operation MindCrime - similar to OPM story above, kept buying the cassette and each time something happened to it. Lost, ruined, etc. Still don't have a copy of it.

Yes Fragile - vinyl, cd, DVDA

Talking Heads Remain In Light - same as Fragile.

Those are the only 3+ purchases I can think of. Many vinyl-to-cd though.

Something metal, it's the genre I owned that was most likely to be stolen. Oddly enough, I never had to replace any of my Tangerine Dream albums.

Last Waltz album (hand me down from parents) cassette cd(at office) DVD (at home)

I've also owned 3 Music from Big Pinks and gifted it a few times as well

I bought ELO's "Time" on cassette in high school. My best friend stole/borrowed it. We kept stealing it back from each other to the point where I just bought another copy. When it came out on CD, I bought it, and my best friend stole it/borrowed it. I cut to the chase and just bought another copy.

Led Zeppelin II. I think I had four different LPs through various moves and roommate acquisitions. I don't recall ever owning it on cassette but have a couple of CDs somewhere. I have a MP3 version of the remasters and downloaded a lossless rip of the MFSL issue because I could.

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac, which is odd, because I'm not even that big of a fan. I think it's just a staple that you have to have around.

Pink Floyd's The Wall. Bought the CD in high school, brother stole it. Bought another after "losing" my copy, lost it when I lost my CD binder from my car. Bought a new one.

Three more copies amazingly left my dorm room in college.

Bought one final copy, burned it to mp3, and have successfully not lost the album (physical or electronic) since.

Operation MindCrime - similar to OPM story above, kept buying the cassette and each time something happened to it. Lost, ruined, etc. Still don't have a copy of it.
Probably 6 copies, mostly cassette, maybe two CDs. Then finally digital.Eta:

Tesla 5 man is another that I've purchased a lot, I think I lost 4 to ex girlfriends back in the day. Same with self titled Saigon Kick album.

Judas Priest - Sin After Sin

Had the album.. someone stepped on it... bought another album.. someone dropped it.. bought the tape.. someone stole it out of my car.. bought another tape.. lost it..

Maybe someone was trying to tell me something :oldunsure:

bought the CD and now have copied it to multiple places so as to never lose it again...

Probably Beastie Boys Paul's Boutique. I had the original cassette tape, at least 3 CD's that were stolen, and then digital download at least 3 times as I had computers die.

Not necessarily my favorite album, even though it is good, but for whatever reason I have had to replace The Low End Theory several times. I'm sure I've had it in all formats, vinyl, cd (more than once), tape, even pure digital.

I borrowed my friend's cassette of "Synchronicity" by The Police. I ended up losing it, so I bought him another copy, but then I wanted my own, so I bought another. I bought it again when it came out on DVD.

Personally, probably Let It Bleed. For some reason it's disappeared/broken more frequently than any others. I'd guess four or five copies.

But I used to buy copies of Aeroplane Over the Sea, Exile on Main Street, Alien Lanes, #1 Record/Radio City, and GP/Grievous Angel to randomly gift to people. Probably Aeroplane more than any other.

Same here with Operation:Mindcrime. 4x I think.

Must have bought Ænima 5+ times for various reason. Still need to make 1 more purchase of it to complete my Tool vinyl collection.
