What are people's impressions of the Seattle offense this year? (1 Viewer)

The Seahawks have Hassleback and SA back healthy and they have the perfect schedule to light up the NFL if you ask me. They have SA who I feel is healthy and decent receivers in Branch and Hackett. They play in a West-Coast offense against a weak NFC West division. I can see Hass passing for 25+ TDs, and SA running in 12+ or so. Branch could FINALLY reach 1000 yards and Hackett could be a nice sleeper this year.

Could they be a top 5 offense this year? :goodposting:

Possible top 5:

Indy

Cinci

Rams

SD

SEA

*Disclaimer: Seattle homer

I think Hasselbeck is the steal here. Branch and Hackett are going a little high for my tastes, and Alexander imo is about in the right spot. Branch, Pollard, and Burleson are underrated weapons.

Hass has looked great this preseason, aside from last year's debacle was top 5 in fantasy 2 of the previous years. He's exactly what I look for in a value QB. Veteran in a good system who's produced at a high level consistently in the past, coming off a season in which he underperformed because of injury to himself and most everyone. He just happens to be in my backyard.

I love taking him as a late #1 QB - I'm getting him at QB10 or later - not only because of his upside, but because of a lack of downside too.

Top 5 seems a little high, as in addition to the four you list above Seattle, I would think NO and PHIL are strong contenders to rank near the top, but I think they will likely finish in the top 10.

I agree with proninja on Hass as the best value pick, with Branch second. I'm not sold on Hackett, and Alexander is still going mid-first round, so not huge value here although he could certainly outperform a couple of those drafted ahead of him in most leagues.

Seattle is being underrated as a team because the media always has to look for the next big thing. The difference this year is it is the 49ers, not the Cardinals, being overhyped. The window is closing on the Seahawks, but it is still open more than the rest of their competition in the division, and given the weakness of the NFC as a whole, I think they are as likely as any other team to dethrone Chicago.

They also have so much big game experience and host both New Orleans and Chicago which might help them in the struggle for home field.

Drafted Hasselback as QB9 in my league, and think he will be good value.I thought the real problem for Hasselback and the entire Seattle offense, even before Hasselback and Alexander got hurt, was the dramatic adjustment they had to make in the wake of the Hutchinson departure. That was a major, major hit, and I don't think the team adjusted nearly all season. My hunch is that with Walter Jones back healthy, and a year for the OLine to adjust to Hutchinson leaving, the whole SEA offense will be considerably more efficient and effective.Last year, they were just a mess. This year, I'm not sure if Hasselback gets back into the Top 5 QBs - there's so many good ones now - but I suspect he'll be closer than not. And to able to draft him as a QB9 seems like a nice value pick.

Top is a tough call to make, but it is possible. Hass has a lot of weapons, with talk of Burleson improving his game vastly and the expected emergence of DJ Hackett. Also if the rumors of Brunell coming into town are true, once they get Mark up to speed it would free up Seneca Wallace (generally regarded as the best athlete on the team) to come in at a variety of positions and add not just another target for Hass but a major headache for opposing DCs. With the loss of Marcus Tubbs last night, the run defense takes a big hit and they may be involved in more games that the O has to overcome defensive struggles. Especially facing Jackson and Gore twice. The line is still an issue, although in preseason first team action they pass protection was spectacular against SD's and MN's starters.

I think a sleeper pick here is Pollard. He may be old but with that comes smarts. Holmgren has said he wants to get Pollard around 50 passes this season and with all the other weapons around combined with Hass ability to find the open man could mean good points for Marcus. Also he and Hackett are the only big guys in the receiving core so he's a good red zone threat as well.

Agree that Pollard will make a nice late round if not waiver wire pickup. But yeah, I think Hasselback is due for a bounce back. Ironically, I'm not that high on Shaun Alexander as I think he'll still miss the superlative run block of Steve Hutchinson. BUt as far as pass blocking is concerned, and with a season to adjust last year for Deion Branch, I think Hasselback bounces, err, back.
