What are the odds Chad Johnson plays at all next year? (1 Viewer)

(Rotoworld) Bengals beat writer Chuck Ludwig fully expects Chad Johnson to report to the team at some point before the season.

Impact: He even suggests it could happen by the Bengals' mandatory minicamp in mid-June. Ludwig believes Johnson, whose threats and demands have slowly died down since before the draft, isn't ready to miss out on paychecks.

Just found this, no clue how in tune Chuck Ludwig is, just passing it on.

Sitting out the season would be financial self-destruction. Drew Rosenhaus will force Chad Johnson to play by threatening to hog all the media attention for himself if Johnson sits. No way Ocho Cinco will let that happen.

The question is whether he'll be focused. His antics have been a bit crazy at times, what with the goofy end zone celebrations and whatnot, but those antics are a reflection of his love for the game. He has a lot of fun out there, and I think that's what helps keep him motivated.

If he's sour about his situation this year, if the game is no longer fun for him, will he be the same player?

If the joy is gone from the touchdown celebrations, why even bother scoring?

I'm exaggerating, but I do think there's a real chance that Johnson will show up and just be an ordinary player on the field, and a huge distraction in the locker room. He'll play, but it may not be pretty.
It's possible he becomes ordinary, but I think he will be pretty focused. He has every incentive to play hard and try to convince other teams to come in and blow the Bengals away with a trade offer.

I think we haven't heard anything from Chad lately cause his bluff got called. He'll be @ manditory camps on time and he'll put up top 5 #'s again.

I disagree, IMO his antics are a combo of craving attention, and the shrewd realization that the way to get name recognition and extra clips and commentary on Sports Center is to perform attention-demanding stunts.Players that put more butts in the seats - even if it is for their antics instead of their skills - get bigger contracts. Chad of course has exceptional ability to go along with the stunts, just like TO.
