So what is the Tuna doing? Is he targeting any big name free agents? What's he going to do about qb? He should at least give Carr a look. He could probably be had pretty cheap and he has to be an upgrade from Lemon.

I dont see Carr as an upgrade to anyone.

They currently have Josh McCown and John Beck under contract.Cleo Lemon is the new backup in JAX.David Carr will be lucky to be on an NFL-team this year...I cant think of a team in the NFL that would upgrade its backup position by signing him. He was the worst QB to start an NFL game last year.

Right now it appears he is rebuilding the special teams....
This is exactly what he's doing. He's done the same every other place he's been to. He always builds his team starting with special teams, d-line and o-line.Other then Ferguson, he's signed a bunch of 26-27 year old special teamers, offensive linemen and defensive linemen.I don't see much improvement in 2008 but with another draft and Free Agency in 2009 hopefully this team can be competitive in 2-3 years.

Answer is in your post. They brought in the Tuna, that's the first thing they did to turn it around to avoid a repeat.

I can't help but think Carr has the talent to get the job done with a decent team (no, I'm not saying Miami is a decent team). That said I don't feel good about going into the season with one of those two as the starting qb. I wish we could have a do over on last years draft. So no immediate plans to upgrade wr and qb? Why not give Taylor the trade he wants and get extra draft picks to rebuild?

Parcells has made lots of moves already, but clearly he's looking at this as a multi-year turnaround. Here are some comparative changes to the roster:

Departures

QB Trent Green

WR Marty Booker

OG Rex Hadnot

LB Zach Thomas

QB Cleo Lemon

RB Jesse Chatman

OT L.J. Shelton

DT Keith Traylor

S Lance Schulters

S Travares Tillman

WR Troy Williamson

RB Patrick Cobbs

RB Samkon Gado

WR Greg Camarillo

WR Chris Davis

TE Buck Ortega

C Gene Mruczkowski

OG Chris Liwienski

OT Cory Lekkerkerker

OT Mike Rosenthal

OLB Donnie Spragan

ILB Derrick Pope

Acquisitions

OG Justin Smiley

WR Ernest Wilford

DT Randy Starks

QB Josh McCown

TE Sean Ryan

OLB Reggie Torbor

DT Jason Ferguson

QB Matt Baker

WR David Kircus

OLB Charlie Anderson

He also kept S Yeremiah Bell, CB Michael Lehan and WR Kerry Reed.

what most people have said here is about right. Tuna has brought in a lot of guys in their mid 20's with good ST backrounds, as well as two mountains at the DT spot. He will look to build through the draft and get this team competitive in year one, but with an eye towrds 2-3 years down the road.

Sorry to tell you DolPhans this but, Tuna has won ZERO (0 for those who can't read) Super Bowls without Belichick. Good Luck in the future.

C'mon...let's be better than that. Seriously. The Dolphins won ONE GAME last year, do you really think Parcells barometer for success is winning the Super Bowl? While I'll never be confused with a Parcells fan, the man has shown a decent eye for talent over the years and, more importantly, he's never failed to build a team into respectability. He's not the coach here, he's running football operations. Big difference.

I dont know about that...Carr proved incapable of running a Panthers' squad that UDFA Matt Moore had success with...Taylor will be traded eventually...draft is not until April; no reason to move him before then.Theres not much out there currently that would be an upgrade at QB or WR.

Regardless of why David Carr is ineffective now, the simple truth is...he's ineffective. :)

Must be nice to be the GM and not the coach in a multi year turnaround. Not sure that I have seen any moves that will improve this team anytime soon.

This is a team without an offense and they are in danger of losing their best defensive player.

Yes and no. We have no idea whether Beck is the goods; if he's capable then the Dolphins are way ahead of the game. Ronnie Brown, if healthy, was leading the league in yards last year behind a bad offensive line. Ginn is entering his 2nd season. Add some offensive line upgrades and better coaching, and high draft picks that could yield starters and things may not look as dire as we think.

Seems so basic but so many "expert or gurus" lose focus on this simple vision and stray off course.I honestly think Matt Millen wanted to be a wide receiver as a kid.

Unlike Saban and Cameron, who have no idea how to deal with the media and their expectations, Parcells understands how the game works.Whether or not parcells has won a SB since Bellichek, he has gotten his teams to the playoffs and made them relavent in the league, which are two things dolphin fans were used to their team being. We should be at our best when the patriots start to level off (I know, wishful thinking), but at least this group will be playing the same GAME that BB and the patriots are (Saban and Cameron were playing checkers to BB chess).
