what are your thoughts on abortion? (1 Viewer)

If the Pro-Life crowd has this discussion and involve religion they're labeled as bible beaters and told to stick to facts. Keep religion out of the discussion and try to have a civil debate and this is the response.

Lose-Lose
Yep.

But yet they keep forcing it on other people, through laws no less. Horrible creatures.

I have news for you...that's the way we advance as a civilization (i.e. debate, discuss and pass laws). The majority will decide what is best for this country and the minority won't be happy but that's the way democracy works. At this point the matter hasn't been decided so you're going to continue to be disappointed with the feeling that it's being forced.

P.S. Concerning your comment "through laws no less" How do you propose that it happen if not through laws?

You forgot a really important part - the Amendments to the Constitution. Those are there to protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority. And the Supreme Court is tasked with upholding those protections. And, in fact, they have in the abortion case.

I haven't forgotten a thing. I'm well aware of the process (i.e. Supreme Court, Constitution, etc). The court rules, one side disagrees, the other appeals.

Did I say otherwise?

I'm very pro-abortion. We've got a serious problem with overpopulation which will most likely be the eventual cause of our demise. Plus, your typical abortion candidate is poor and stupid (or she would have the good sense to use birth control). The only thing worse than our overpopulation issue is the ratio of idiots and parasites to achievers and producers. Weed out as many of these low-lifes as possible imo. Once universal healthcare is complete, hopefully there will be abortion kiosks in every mall.

I know some people may find this post offensive or maybe McG is somewhat joking but he raises a very good point.  There are way too many people on this planet.  We need to have easier access to abortions for people that, quite frankly, should be having them.

The majority of this country favors legalized marijuana and has been that way for many years.  If you are looking for democracy, you are not going to find it in the USA.

My niece had an abortion when she was 18.  She has since had 2 children & said that if she would have known then what she knows now(how precious life is) she wouldn't have done it.  According to her it will haunt her forever.   No rabble rousing here, just a personal story.  Take it how you want to take it.

Every abortion is a terrible outcome.

An with societal pressures we force upon women, you wont see many women say anything to the contrary of what you niece has stated.

Anonymous surveys.
Not what I am talking about, sorry for the confusion.

a) His niece (non-anon) said she wouldnt do it.

b) Anon polls say women more often say it was a good decision.

I was saying that women often answer like she did in a) because of societal pressures to answer in the socially acceptable way. That's despite of results like b) being understood to be the true norm.

What else is she going to say?
