What can Brown do for you? (1 Viewer)

God Bless the Rotoworld idiots:

Ranked Brown #24 this week. If you expected this performance, you'd be ranking him as a RB1 for the week.

Weak.

Andre Brown rushed 20 times for 113 yards and two touchdowns in Week 3 against the Panthers.

Brown also added three catches and 17 yards to his stat line. The Giants offensive line created massive holes in the Carolina defense, and Brown hit them hard. He even lowered his head and ran over smaller defensive backs on multiple occasions. Brown doesn't have the elusiveness and shifty skills that is going to make a defender miss. Facing one of the league's weakest run defenses, a performance of this nature was almost expected. With Ahmad Bradshaw's (neck) diagnosis and timetable uncertain, Brown could see a lot of playing time again in Week 4, but it's going to be tough sledding against the Eagles.

Dude looks like the real deal - thanks to Sigmund for his bullish stance on Brown. Guy is great at everything and has definately worked himself into at least a timeshare with Bradshaw.

Bradshaw usually breaks down as the season wears on - probably pencil Brown into the Jacobs role.

So do the Giants go RBBC when Bradshaw comes back?
Coughlin has almost every year of his coaching career. Ahmad recently and probably one with Freddie where Mack didn't steal TDs. I can not think of the last time a Giant RB wasn't hurt for at least one of weeks 12-17. Rodney Hampton?I'm not in anyway saying a 50/50 split, but Brown's getting the rock some. Young Ahmad used to play almost exclusively in the fourth quarter after Ward and Jacobs wore down a D. Jacobs and Ward (yeah curiously the slower bigger guys) came in on 3rd for Tiki. IIRC Ward and Jacobs split series at one point...Coughlin (or Gilbride) hasn't always been easy to predict but he usually shows a plan you can work with for FF.

One thing I kinda liked about Andre 3000 last night was after he scored, caught the ball, ran, whatever, he kinda hangs his head low like he is embarrassed. No big celebration after every touch.

With the exception of that first big 30ish yard run, where he threw the ball down and looked downright ANGRY. He was fired up, and not in a celebrating fired but, in a "LET'S DO THIS" fired up. Which I also liked.

A few quotes:

Let's start with Brown, who ran hard and with power behind an offensive line that hasn't been able to open holes in the run game for Ahmad Bradshaw at all over the past year-plus. Carolina's run defense has been one of the worst in the league this year, and that clearly had something to do with Brown's success, but Bradshaw's run against poor defenses too, and he hasn't had as many as 113 rushing yards in a game since Oct. 25, 2010. The Giants used Brown in a very specific way, a lot of draw plays and straight-ahead running that took advantage of his power style. But he also ran with patience showed some burst when he needed to, and he found the holes he needed to find.

It's possible this line Thursday, with David Diehl injured, Will Beatty back at left tackle and Sean Locklear at right tackle, just blocked better than it's been blocking in the other alignment. But it's also possible Brown is running better right now than Bradshaw is. And if Bradshaw is recovered from his neck injury in time for the Giants' Week 4 game in Philadelphia 10 days from now, the Giants may still be looking to reward Brown's performance with an increased number of snaps. Maybe they rotate carries now the way Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs used to. Heck, maybe Brown just went Lou Gehrig to Bradshaw's Wally Pipp. We shall see, but whatever the reason, it's been a long time since the Giants' run game looked as good as it did in this game.

A statistic from ESPN Stats and Info pointed to Brown's determination: "Brown had 71 rush yards after contact, the most by a Giants player since Brandon Jacobs in Week 4 of 2010. It's the second-most rush yards after contact by any player in a game this season."

I second that. How could you not pick him up after listening to the man-love on the the audible waiver-wire special? :banned:

That is his calling card and also his curse. Its a major factor for his injuries over the years.

when Bradhsaw comes back he will see a lot of the field, he has been a great Giant throughout his career and isnt close to finished. Bad news for Bradshaw and Brown owners is that I can see coughlin splitting carries and/or the 'hotter' hand getting a few more carries than the other.

One other thing, I've seen people refer to Brown on durable on this board, nothing could be more further from the truth, Brown has been cut 7 times in his career- which are all due to injuries. The talent is undeniable (giants made him an 09 4th rd pick and i dont doubt that they really like him) but the guy has a very poor track record when it comes to injuries dating back to his career at NC State.

As a brown owner im excited but am tempering expectations..

NO CHANCE Brown takes over for Bradshaw. NONE. The Giants and coach Coughlin LOVE Bradshaw. That being said Brown definitely earned more carries. Maybe even a 60/40 split going forward. But thats kind of what Bradshaw owners figured going into the year with David Wilson so Im not sure it changes much. Dont get me wrong it changes alot from week 2 since Bradshaw owners had visions of 75%+ touches from Bradshaw when Wilson stunk up the joint.

Had a #2 waiver and passed on him. I hope Bradshaw returns next week lol.
I wish I had that luxury. In the only league I couldn't use him (my RBs are actually healthy and good), I didn't bother using my entire waiver $$$ for the year. In my other two leagues, I had no shot and tried. I am starting to really not like my one leagues rule of waiver priority set on standings every week. I started strong, so I have the worst waiver priority meaning I will likely never be able to get the hot pick.

:goodposting: I think this will be even more of a RBBC from now on. The only hope for Brown owners is clear injury news on Bradshaw to know they can start him with only Wilson as a part timer. Also, as a Panthers fan, remember to temper excitement as their run defense has been atrocious recently. They weren't Rams bad last year, but they were among the worst. I think they really concentrated on Cruz last night (Rivera said that at halftime) and left everyone else open and it showed because they aren't a top defense that can shut down one option and not get killed everywhere else.

I dont even know what thread to use anymore, lol. Assuming Bradshaw comes back and you own both him and Brown who are you starting for now?
