What have the following QBs -- and only the following QBs -- done?

Josh Freeman

Vince Young

Ben Roethlisberger

Donovan McNabb*

Steve Beuerlein

Archie Manning

Greg Cook

Dan Darragh

Joe Kapp

Kent Nix*

Asterisks representing, well, players whose accomplishment deserves an asterisk next to it.

Actually it must be started a certain number of games as a rookie.......at least 7 games?

EDIT: or appeared in a certain number of games as a rookie.

None of those QBs started every game as a rookie. In all instances, the team posted a better winning percentage in games the rookie started than it did in games the rookie didn't start. McNabb and Nix get an asterisk because the winning percentages were essentially identical with and without the rookie, with just the slimmest of edges going to the rookie (in both cases, the team won 33% with the rookie and 30% without him).

Edit: I suspect the particulars might be a little bit more... well, particular (maybe something like "the team must have played at least 3 games with the rookie and at least 3 games without the rookie", maybe a stipulation that the rookie couldn't be an opening day starter, etc), but I feel very confident that the answer is the team's winning percentage with and without the rookie.

It might be that the team's hadn't won a game that season until the rookie started - then he got them their first win.ETA: Crap - that was looking right until Roeth started for the Steelers when they were 1-1.

I got it! They all beat the eventual Super Bowl champ as a rookie. Nix and McNabb probably get an asterisk because their wins were at the end of the season and the other teams rested players. :bag:

I wouldn't count McNabb's win, which was only a technical win over a SB champ -- the Rams rested everyone that game. That means Freeman, Young and Roethlisberger are the only rookie QBs to beat Super Bowl champs (Roethlisberger over the '04 Pats, Young over the '06 Colts and Freeman over the '09 Saints). Not sure if it means anything, but I found it to be pretty interesting.
