What does everyone think about J.Charles (1 Viewer)

I haven't seen much on Rotoworld the last two days on Charles. Does anyone have any updates on his knee situation. First, they said it was an issue with his surgically repaired knee, then it was a bone bruise. Trying to get the latest on him. Any updates would be great. Thanks

I don't know i think there is some lingering soreness probably. Dont know that it is limiting him though. He looked good in preseason and he had a few nice runs in the 1st half of week 1.

Team has been playing so poorly, its tough to tell (being down takes them completely out of their gameplan). Think the Chiefs started off this way last year then got it turned around a bit.

We'll see, he should probably have a decent week 3 vs NO. If not, may be time to start worrying!!

I don't think so. He was hurt really early in the season last year, and has had plenty of time to recover. Also, his burst has looked really good.

It takes 2 full years for the full mobility to return in the knee. his straight line speed will be fine, but his accelleration, burst, and lateral movement will be hindered this year.He will look good on draw plays, and will look bad on stretch plays and such. I expect his ability to make cuts wont be as good either.Because he got hurt early last year, he wont be terrible, but you will notice he's just not quite the same player he was last year.If he stays healthy you will notice he will be better in the second half of the season.

Thanks all!! Sorry I didn't see the other Charles thread, but found it three pages back.
Don't worry about it. Too many people around here think they are God's gift to fantasy football. Not all of us have the time to sort through multiple posts on multiple pages to find info. I find it refreshing when a new post comes up on a player.

Don't have time to type "Charles" into the search bar? But you have time to hit 'Reply' and type 4 full sentences?

Don't worry about it. Too many people around here think they are more important than the community. Not all of us have time to hit search. I find it refreshing when there are five threads about one player - it makes looking for news and worthwhile discussion like an easter egg hunt.

Wrong. It takes only a few seconds to type Charles into the search bar, yes. But then when you see 10 page thread full of drivel and side conversations, trying to find out the specific info that you want to know about Charles becomes a 10 minute task. This guy just wanted to know one specific thing about Charles. He doesn't need or want anything else.

For what it's worth I read two separate reports this week from people who watched game film of the Chiefs-Bills game (one from ESPN and the other from RotoWorld) and both people said they were impressed with how Charles looked physically. Like I said, take that for what it's worth but it's the same thing I've seen watching him too. As I posted in the other Charles thread the only concern I have with him right now is usage. Physically, he looked great in the preseason and I haven't seen anything in the first two games that has me concerned about the health of his knee.

Would love to start Charles this week, but despite what people are saying about a supposedly great matchup versus the Saints, I have a feeling he's still not going to get more than 10 or so carries - team brass doesn't want to overwork the knee, especially when Hillis is there.

People seem to be glossing over the fact that Charles is coming back off an injury that generally takes a full year to heal physically from, and even longer to overcome mentally. I am trying to acquire in leagues right now because I think he will overcome the mental hurdle by week 10 or so and have a real chance to contribute in the playoffs.

I made a trade for him this week and am hoping I did the right thing. I gave Alfred Morris for Charles. On paper its a great trade, but I was worried about the knee. From many reports, it sounds like just a bruise. Hopefully, thats all it is. I think the guy I traded with, jump after early reports of his knee.

I'd think by the end of the year the balance will tilt to your favor.

I was actually looking for information about Charles right before this thread was posted. I put "Charles" in the search box and scrolled down a little until I found the Charles thread. It took all of maybe 30 seconds.

You will start loving this trade come tomorrow.

Someone in one of my leagues just traded Andre Johnson for Charles (the former Johnson owner is deep at WR and weak at RB). He did this despite me offering CJ Spiller or Reggie Bush for Johnson. I'm bummed.

I'd rather have Charles over Bush but I would've taken Spiller. He must be worried about Jackson's role when he returns. I'm not concerned about that but I could see how someone might be.

One of the most overrated players in FF. Part-time player who had one great season and is suddenly valued like a superstar.

Is every player who's gotten off to a slow start "one of the most overrated players in FF" to you? The sage-like wisdom you impart upon every thread is much appreciated. It's also ironic you talked up a player with an extremely similar skill set to Charles', remember, Daryl Richardson?

I've been saying Charles was overrated before the season. Disaster waiting to happen given what people spent on him. He's a talented player, but was simply way too risky to justify his ADP. The difference between Richardson and Charles is cost. If people were spending top 10 picks on Richardson, I would have said he was overrated. Likewise, if Charles had been available on waivers in every league, I would have said he was a good pickup. There's nothing ironic or inconsistent about it.

Fair enough. The way you worded that made it sound like you thought he was overrated as a footballer as well. I still tend to disagree as I think he's a great buy-low candidate; one that I haven't been able to acquire just yet.

Maybe you missed it, but people were spending top 10 picks on Richardson. Not in every league, but definitely in a lot. He was getting drafted over Charles in most leagues, I saw

Ouch. Between this and the Alfred Morris stuff, EBF wrong in here a lot these days.

Oof on me as well. Wound up not starting him due to knee concerns, but the upshot is that he's back in a big way.

Been saying it all off-season. ACLs are not the injury they were 10 years ago. Especially for young, super talented players like Jamaal Charles who get injured early in the NFL season.

Not sure I'd have given the guy 40 touches though -- that's inviting trouble even on a knee that's never been hurt.

I think they were referring to Darryl Richardson, not Trent. I see no connection (much less irony) between EBF's posts on Darryl Richardson and Jamaal Charles. Apples and oranges.
