What does the future hold for Deuce? (1 Viewer)

The way the salary cap is going up, I wouldn't be surprised if they keep him. I never would have thought this before. It doesn't mean they will, but the bigger cap sure makes it a lot more feasible.

I'd say Deuce will drop a few more deuces, eat a few dinners, drink a few beers, and eventually die.

I believe McAllister is gone in 2008, with Antonio Pittman replacing him. I don't think the Saints will ever use Reggie Bush as a workhorse, so Pittman will get plenty of carries in 2008 IMO.

Unless the Saints discover that Reggie Bush CAN run between the tackles, Deuce is going to get resigned.

Absolutely no one can argue about the successful formula that New Orleans showed in their offense and will probably continue to this year. Does anyone really believe that it can get significantly better without Deuce?

:goodposting: and Pittman will be cheaper, as long as he proves he can handle the role.

For me personally, it will be a sad day if/when he puts on another team's uniform. Here are some interesting comments Deuce made after Friday morning's practice:

There's been some speculation that you might be on the hot seat this season to produce because of the value of your contract. Have you thought about that?

It doesn't matter if you can go out there and produce. That's what the game's about. You've got to produce year to year. You really can't get caught up in all that. If you worry about that then you're going to be hesitant on every play. If that's how somebody feels about you there's nothing you can do about it.

Still, you're from this area and I'm sure you enjoy playing for the Saints, so it would have to hurt a little?

That's business. You can't let your personal feelings get involved with business. They've got a job to do. If my play doesn't warrant me staying here then that's what they're going to do. They are going to make a business decision.

But you're from this area and it's home, so that wouldn't bother you?

It will always be home. If I have to play for another team besides the Saints then I'll still pull for them because I grew up watching the Saints. I know their history and everything. I'm fortunate to be able to play for them. But if they think, 'McAllister didn't play well for us this year. What is his salary going to be? Do we want to keep him? Do we think his production has fallen off?' Those are the things they have to consider in a business decision. I understand that now being in business myself. Sometimes you are going to have to fire a worker, somebody you have a relationship with. It might not be something you want to do but you have to do it for the good of the company.

resign? he's in the middle or a long term contract. no need to resign. if he produces like he did last year, i doubt they fix what aint broken. if he leaves itll be from a trade for a defensive player, but again why temper with last years #1 offense?
