What draft slot should I take for next year? (1 Viewer)

Our league has a few teams that get to pick their draft position next year. Full PPR, 12 team, standard snake/serpentine draft.

The 12 slot is owned now by a guy who isn't very ontop of FF and I considered picking 9-10 near him to get some value picks potentially as the rest of the league knows their stuff.

I get to pick any pick 2-11 , any thoughts on this or am I just throwing darts blind here?

i'd probably pick 3rd. Get AP, Mccoy or charles. Picking lower gets you a higher 2nd round pick but also a lower 3rd round pick.

Always take one. Either you start a team with the player you want most or you deal down and add picks.

There will always be a trade partner who will move into the top spot and perhaps overpay to get there.

Two answers to this.

The first is that grabbing a pass-catching RB like Charles or McCoy at the 2 pick is very safe. That is an easy pick to make in a position where few guys are 3 down RBs these days.

The second answer is pick 6 or 7. I find that my best drafts occur when I am in the middle and value falls to me both ways in a snake draft. But, you need to be really sharp in order to recognize when that value is there, and when to snag it.

So I think this depends on the confidence you have in yourself in drafting value.

Yeah I know #1 will take Charles, he already told me for the most part but why wouldn't he. You guys are right the 3 down backs are down to AP McCoy and Charles at this point. So pick 2 or 3 looking best next year for my situation

I like any of the top 6 slots in a PPR/QB pass td = 6 pt league because I am guaranteed Charles/Peterson/McCoy/Manning/Brees/Rodgers. Knowing Charles is off the board, I would then weigh my injury/overuse concerns for Peterson and McCoy. If I had major concerns then I would just go with the 5 or 6 slot and target a qb. That way, on the way back I can still get fairly decent RB value or incredible WR value. Maybe my league is odd, but the last three years have shown me that if you can get a stud QB and 2 stud wrs and your third wr is equivalent to everyone else's 2nd...then you will dominate. Unfortunatley I have been trying to follow the old pattern of scooping up RBS. Going forward I am going to chase wrs.

Take #2. Even if you feel you're good with the #3 pick, maybe the guy with #2 has man-love for either Peterson or McCoy and gives you something to trade up to it.

personally, i like picking on the turns also.

I'd probably choose 2nd not 3rd.

that way i can get mccoy or charles.. i have my concerns about peterson going forward.

and then in the 2nd round either you get a top wr.. or maybe gio (i know lacy wont be there) but its a good way to start your draft.. 2 top 15 rbs and a 1 wr in 3rd.

if you pick at 11.. you could end up with graham and wr, or maybe forte and graham something like that

reading comprehension down?

Well he should take pick #2 then. Really not that hard to figure out Ack88's reply was indicating to take the highest possible pick.

If your draft was today I would say take a lower pick. Right now there is going to be a lot of value at running back, and you will have a ton of options, you can take 2 top notch receivers, and wait until round 3 to grab Spiller and another back that fell because of a poor performance last year. You could also take 1 top receiver and get a guy like Martin, Foster, Rice, Forte because they will all be devalued because of age, or because they had poor year last year.

#2, but no idea why the league would want to be picking that now. I think waiting until right after the Super Bowl makes more sense if you are going to do it before the Summer.
