I am so looking forward to "The Disaster Artist". James Franco does a behind the scenes of The Room.Oh hi, Mark
I own it on VHS, but have never seen it sober in its entirety. It's Dela Wark's answer to his own Birth Of A Nation, right?I was going to say Intolerance but it was released 101 years ago. Dammit.
Intolerance, apparentlyI want to hear about which films are a must see that are over 100 years old.
birth of a nation was 1915 I think. I guess that train one.I want to hear about which films are a must see that are over 100 years old.
Melies' A Trip to the Moon. The OP's friend will appreciate that it's only about 15 minutes.birth of a nation was 1915 I think. I guess that train one.
It's impossible to be objective in the face of the racism in A Birth of a Nation but Intolerance is a superior movie. Thankfully, Griffith's four historical plotlines in one movie thing didn't really catch on. It must have been mind boggling to audiences of the day. The climax of the multiple stories is still exciting and the technical achievement for an nascent artform is impressiveI own it on VHS, but have never seen it sober in its entirety. Yeah it's interesting but it's way down the list of silent movies I would recommend someone watch. It's impossible to be objective in the face of the racism in A Birth of a Nation but Intolerance is a superior movie. I'm not saying it's the one movie to watch even if the timeframe was increased to 101 years. It's an important film in historical context but man, it's really long; they take their time with each of the four stories. Griffith probably felt obliged to throw in every scene he shot.
It's on my Best of 1916 listYeah it's interesting but it's way down the list of silent movies I would recommend someone watch.

Same. The Room was such an abortion, and Tommy is such a weirdo how could it not be worth watching?(even if it's just in a trainwreck sort of way).I am so looking forward to "The Disaster Artist". James Franco does a behind the scenes of The Room.
Comes out in a couple of weeks
I love you, Ilove80s. Did you hear me? I absolutely adore you....I'll bite and offer serious response, it depends on the person's age and what kind of movies they enjoy. So to narrow this down to just 1 film is tough.
What great movie is most likable across many demographics?
The Apartment. It has everything- comedy, romance, drama. Even some Christmas Holiday vibes. It's sweet and yet still cynical enough that it fits in with modern movies.
These are not the same question. What am I really supposed to answer here? What films are must see of the past 100 years?
If you had to choose one movie to show someone that hasn't seen it before...
Which film would you pick and why?
If you had to show someone a great movie of the past hundred years and explain it to someone, which one would you pick, and why? These are not the same question. What am I really supposed to answer here?
