What good do you expect from Trump as President? (1 Viewer)

I think the biggest upside is the entertainment factor.

He has/will have no friends in Congress.  Between Clinton and Trump, he is the more likely to be successfully impeached.  What ever he imagines as his agenda as president would be derailed the moment the country woke up on November 9th.  So his upside may be - he will do no harm.

But can he push the button?

But can he push the button?

Not in his nature imo.  I think he shirks from major responsibilities and moves on to something else.  If the world was coming apart at the seams, I suspect Trump would be the orange fur-ball curled up in the corner in a complete breakdown.

What is scarier though, is that not only would Clinton stand tall in such a situation, but I think she relishes the opportunity to demonstrate her brass balls.  She is the more likely of the two candidates to get us embroiled in a significant military action - just so she can prove that she takes #### from no-one.

Nascar becomes the official sport of the good ol' USA.

The Civil War is officially to be referred to as the War of Northern Aggression.

In the event of an improbable Trump win, I expect a ripple effect to people of other nations that they too can overcome the long standing parties, societal narratives, and conspiring media that are no longer serving the best interests of the citizens.  Trump, the man, may be a donk, but his unlikely election coupled with the unlikely Brexit will likely inspire more people in other nations to go in a a direction that they secretly longed for, but did not previously think was possible given the establishment control.

I know this will sound extreme to some, but it could have an effect like the East Germans rising up to demolish the Berlin Wall in 1989.  Just a year earlier that seemed inconceivable.  Yet that rebelling mindset quickly spread throughout the Eastern bloc and within a couple of years Soviet control over all those nations was lost.

Parties based on ideas that were thought doomed to fail just a few short years ago will rise in other nations, in part, based on inspiration from a Trump win (should that event transpire.)

The biggest upside would be watching the heads of Hillary & the DNC party leadership explode, followed immediately by [or perhaps, preceded by] the heads of Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell & the Koch brothers explode in kind.

He was never my top choice; but I will take him over a known corrupt, congenital liar with an insatiable lust for power. Time to end the status quo; the Clintons had their shot.

Nothing. Cements why he won't be getting my vote.
best. avatar. ever.

y'know, i originally was rooting for Trump because he's the President America deserves and, not having much time left on this impatient orb, i wanted him for to hasten the Crash to come so i can see if my theories on modern society in crisis are correct. the closer i get though, the more i realize he actually is the oversized, grandiose schoolyard bully from which his persona is made and he will deliver the same bigfatnothin that anyone not seriously interested in reform would.  Only diff will be, instead of Obama's egghead smirk of deep concern after failure, he will gripe like a tween after nothing gets done and offer new "y'know what'd be totally cool?!" sets of pie-eyed schemes to be ignored.

Hopefully no more sanctuary cities, revamped illegal program, and no refuge crap. Anything after those is gravy. Plus all the great commentary.

The best possible spin is that the experts can be universally wrong about something or someone.  They say a certain sports team has no chance in unison, or some executive or company has no chance to turn something around.  And they can be just flat out wrong about it.

Let's imagine a world where Trump is elected and turns into a great president.  What would history say about the experts who thought he'd be a disaster?  They'd say the experts shouldn't have discounted or heavily discredited his success managing people, or in the business world, that he was actually way better than they were willing to credit him for.  He was willing to try new ideas and that should be been a big plus.

So what's the good part here exactly?

I have a hard time thinking of a creepier person than Trump. Last person who has reached this level that I would want representing me.

Probably one of the last thing that motivates me wanting to see him lose is wanting to laugh at his supporters or watch them go nuts that Hillary is in charge.

Cant understand that as a being a motivating factor in rooting for someone.

Really, really, really big deficit.  More tax breaks for the super rich, trillions in new weapon systems, a Trump red chia pet in every house, and making America great again.

If those parties win fair elections then that means the will of the people which was previously being suppressed is being now represented.  Ball back in your court -- Why isn't that good?
The will of the people has been achieved in all of our presidential elections in my lifetime (except perhaps for Bush Gore which took some increadibly bizarre circumstances).

I don't see why this election outcome won't be the will of the people. Trump has nothing to do with that.

How are any of those things not Trump....he embodies a corrupt congenital liar with an insatiable lust for power.  The blindness of the Trumpkins is astonishing

The blindness of Koolaid-drinking left is astonishing. What has he lied about? What laws has he broken if he 'embodies' that? Lust for power? No - narcissistic? That'd be fair. And isn't this just like you Koolaid-drinkers in the Democrat Party: can't win an argument so let's pull out the insults. If you managed to read the entire post, Trump was never my first choice; I'm just not willing to vote to allow HRC access to the WH again. Heaven only knows what she'll steal when she leaves the next time ..... if we even still have a country by then.

Hillary clearly lied about Benghazi, to the American people & the families of the survivors. She clearly lied about her e-mails on a private server while Secretary of State [which in and of itself is a felony], even though the DOJ opted against prosecuting her [can't imagine why; it's only a DOJ of the same party as her]. Then there's the Podesta hacked e-mails showing her collusion in sending paid protesters to Trump rallies. Not to mention taking money from countries like Saudi Arabia & Qatar the fund terrorism & violate human rights under the banner of Sharia Law. You want me to go on? There's more ................

  about a third of the good things that come out of Trump presidency so far involve collapse of society.

Thanks republican voters.

Not sure there is any positives no matter who wins.   We need to start getting Congress working that would be the start.  But until that happens it does not matter who is elected.  No matter who wins, they will be a 1 term President.

Yep, I'll buy that - which is another reason why I like what he has said in regards to his platform; pushing for term limits, not to mention his promise of who he intends to nominate for the supreme court, which are some solid choices. But I certainly find enough areas to disagree with him own too. However, he still shows just enough promise as a much better option than HRC; if she manages to pull this out, I will be heavily invested in ammunition; already have plenty of tools for them to fly out of.

Real, behind the scenes, truths about how things are working in Washington. I hope truths get revealed in the way Canseco's book revealed the truths about steroids in baseball.

He lies, he repeats everything he says that all have little to no substance, details or facts.

And when and how do you think you might use your tools, tough guy?

Agreed, but what does that have to do with my post?

My post wasn't about America.  My post was about the idea that an anti-establishment with anti-establishment ideas winning in America (as Brexit upended the establishment in the UK) can spread to nations where anti-establishment candidates with anti-establishment ideas have been actively suppressed.

And don't fool yourself that there isn't a form of suppression of anti-establishment candidates and anti-establishment ideas in America.  We've seen via Wikileaks that there was an establishment plan to promote Clinton over Sanders, and super-delegates were used to achieve that end (even if it was ultimately unnecessary).  Further, studies have shown a grossly disproportionate amount of negative media coverage directed at Trump as opposed to Clinton.  Since most Americans get their news from TV, that grossly disproportionate media coverage shapes the American mind.  The people may have the free will to vote for who they want, but the establishment media prodded them in one direction.
