There's seems to be a trend towards keeping just 2 QBs on rosters this season. Last time I looked 9 teams were carrying just 2 QBs, it would be 10 but Pitt signed St.Pierre after Roethlisberger had surgury. That's almost a third of the league with just 2 QBs.
Also several teams are counting on totally unproven guys, several rookies, as back ups. Some teams are even doing both; keeping just 2 and running a guy with little to no experience as back up.
You have teams like Denver and Dallas, that have legit play off hopes running with just 2 QBs and neither of the back ups has ever thrown an NFL pass. Doesn't that seem odd? I'd think that if you were going to run with just two QBs you'd want the back up to be at least somewhat proven in the NFL. Beldsoe turned it around somewhat this week, but what if Bledsoe and Plummer continue to stink or get hurt? You really want your play off hopes riding on Cutler or Romo?
Someone help me out here. Where did all the solid NFL back up QB go? And when did it become okay to count on a rookie or totally unproven guy as a back up for a play off team?
