What high draft pick are you benching in week 1? (1 Viewer)

I listed 3 RBs across the title but it could be any position. Let's define top pick as anyone in the 1st 5-7 rounds that you planned on being a frontline starter when you drafted them.

QB: Matt Ryan seems like a guy to keep on the bench this week.

RB: Greene, Wells, and JStew...don't know how you can start those guys with a lot of confidence.

WR: Anquan Boldin-that thud you hear in the distance is his value dropping and then add in the Jets week 1.

Madness. The Steelers still only have one NFL grade CB on the roster, Polamalu can't seem to change direction any more ( ), and the run defense is still evil.

Ryan's a must start in my book.

Could work out. Romo's traditionally a slow starter, right?

I mean last year he went for...hold on a sec while I look...353/3.

Year before...320/1

Maybe 2007? Oh ####.

Dynasty. I traded quite a bit to get Brees and Rivers in a start 2 QB league. We start 6 flex spots, so I am stuck with Evans or JStew. Evans seems more explosive and possible for higher score.

I'm benching Turner and Mendenhall for Foster and Best. Not because I necessarily think Best and Foster will out produce, I just want to start the year off with a statement and insult my opponent by benching my first two picks. And I think my backup depth is strong enough to afford me the opportunity.

I'm not going to be the one to tell you what that statement actually is. :goodposting:

This is good policy.Crush the enemy, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of the women. :goodposting:

If you are benching Chris "Beanie" Well against the St Louis Rams... exactly when will you start him?

Don't over think Week 1

I think anyone that benches Shonn Greene for any reason, anytime is fooling themselves.

These aren't your father's Ravens. Their defense is good but it's not great. Rex Ryan is gone, the defense is aging, Cody and Ed Reed are out, and I think the Jets O-Line won't have many problems springing Shonn Greene for a big game.

Greene is being overlooked by a ton of people this year.

I would add to this the "fact" that the Steelers' offense is going to struggle w/o Big Ben. Ryan could be on the field a lot.

And to answer the original question, unless there is an injury, I don't see any reason why you would bench a top pick. Unless you just feel like you totally blew it with a draft pick...which of course we all do from time to time.

I drafted him higher than most, but I'm going to sit Flacco in week 1 against the Jets in favor of Carson Palmer against the Patriots.

I have the choice of going Shonn Greene or Beanie Wells this week in a non ppr. I am not sure which one I am going with although have leaned towards Wells with that matchup. My opponent is starting LT and Sproles so that has me thinking in addition to using Mathews to put in Greene and counter him at both spots. Might flip a coin on Sunday morning on this one.

Some of these are totally NONSENSE!

I can see benching Wells if his injury report is not good, but to bench DeA Will or J Stew? Why?

Sure the NYG have a nice Def, but DeA Will & J Stew are 99% of the Panthers offense. So what if they put 8 or 9 in the box. Then 1 pass to Steve Smith gives them the field and the box is back to 7.

And Benching Turner for Best? WHY?

THE MADNESS IS KILLING ME!!

You made a high investment on these players for a reason. They are talented and in good situations. USE THEM.

The highest "investment" I am sitting is my 9.04 pick TE V Shaincoe. I have Oak TE Zach Miller (7.11 pick).

While playing matchups is a good idea when the talent or situation calls for it, there are few today that make sense.....

I am benching Matt Ryan for Kyle Orton, and I'm sitting Wes Welker for Ahmad Bradshaw in the flex. Mostly I can see Orton throwing 2 TDs against Jacksonville, and Bradshaw getting 18-20 touches and receptions, while Welker is still trying to get 100% (I'd imagine if you asked him he'd say he was at 85%). And although PIT is better against the run than against the pass, I figure we'd see ATL just keeping the pressure on by running the ball and getting good field position thinking that D. Dixon isn't going to just march down the field... Any thoughts?

Projections have Hightower scoring more points, simple as that. I wavered a little but a good matchup goes a long way. Really think about it, Wells is going to be 50% at best. Hightower gets goal line situations. Williams might be splitting 50/50I'm not done with this but I would like to see it rationally.

In a ppr, if Welker is healthy, he doesn't ever see my bench. Guy could go 12-150 against anyone and it wouldn't surprise you.

I have to sit one of these:

Turner

Greene

Foster

I'm leaning towards sitting Greene. I just think the Texans/Colts will be a good game with some scoring and, in a ppr, Foster might be my better play.

Matt
Making stuff up is not rational.

I got some great deals on the mid tier running backs in our 10 team auction and it gave me a lot of options at RB.

I'm leaning toward starting Benson & Foster and benching Best, Addai & Forte.

I waited until the 5th round to take my first RB and it was Charles... I got Best, Bradshaw, and Foster in the next 3 rounds. We start 3 RB's and I am torn between Charles and Bradshaw and will keep going back and forth I am sure.

Benching Romo in favor of Cutler.
:D  :scared:
Ugh. I had made my decision last night but now you guys got me pondering it again. I guess I'm not sure what I'm going to do.
You start Romo, every time in this spot. Sunday night football against a division rival.
Im benching Romo for Shaub, I just dont trust the Dallas O right now.
