I'm probably doing this as well.I also have Romo and Cutler. Playing Cutler this week hasn't even crossed my mind. My league penalizes heavily for turnovers though.

I think anyone that benches Shonn Greene for any reason, anytime is fooling themselves. These aren't your father's Ravens. Their defense is good but it's not great. Rex Ryan is gone, the defense is aging, Cody and Ed Reed are out, and I think the Jets O-Line won't have many problems springing Shonn Greene for a big game.Greene is being overlooked by a ton of people this year.
Very :goodposting: I was just going to question how anyone (at least in redraft leagues) would bench Shonn Greene as long as he is healthy and starting

Benching Ward for Hester in one league.

Have to bench one of D.Will, Charles, and Foster in another--leaning towards benching Charles, but is anyone else nervous that Foster will be riding the pine after Bobby Sanders causes him to fumble a couple of times early in the game?

I've almost decided to bench Ryan for Cutler this weekend. In another league I'm considering benching MSW for TB Mike Williams. Not sure I have the cojones to try that one in week 1 though.

And Benching Turner for Best? WHY? THE MADNESS IS KILLING ME!! You made a high investment on these players for a reason. They are talented and in good situations. USE THEM.
How is playing on the road against Pittsburgh a good situation? They are notoriously tough on runningbacks and they are going to need to be so to be in the game on Sunday. I'm not sold on doing this, that's why I said I'm thinking about it. I have another solid runner in S. Jackson going as well. Convince me as to why you don't think Best has a good chance of outscoring Turner this week. Believe me, I plan on using Turner this year, but why is it crazy to think he has a tough week 1? Best could be in the middle of a shootout......

In 28 of their last 37 games they have taken the field including the playoffs they have allowed an avg of 67 yds per game on the ground. Their front 7 is still a force with Gregg, Ngata, and Redding anchoring the DL, Lewis inside, Suggs on the outside, it's not fun trying to play them. Plus Baltimore actually has an offense, a much better offense I might add than the Jets so the liklihood they get a lead and take New York out of their comfort zone IMO is high. If they grab a 10-0 or 14-3 lead at some point is New York going to stick with the run? The odds are against Greene having a top10 game this week, I definitely go against the FBG ranking of him this week.

The passing game for New York is not strong enough to make a semi-suspect secondary for Baltimore pay. Priority #1 will be to stop the run.

The craziest thing I'm doing is benching Hines Ward in place of Jabar Gaffney. I don't think that is too crazy though, considering the Dennis Dixon factor.

If you are benching Chris "Beanie" Well against the St Louis Rams... exactly when will you start him?

Don't over think Week 1
I doubt he plays. And he's my 4th option anyway.
 Hunch?
I guess. Probably should have added "much" to the end of that statement. If his knee is gimpy I would expect him to get an easy night. Hadn't even considered starting him myself.

In their last 6 games they had about double that. They are still very good, but not as elite as they used to be. 4 of those gix games was over 100 with another at 99 yards.

I'm not sure if Matt Ryan qualifies as a high draft pick but I saw him mentioned so I'll say I'm benching him for Stafford. I picked them in back to back rounds though and it was late, like 9-10 or 10-11. I'm benching several other guys who were drafted before them for a guy I drafted well afterwards, J. Harrison. I've got Harrison in as my flex in place of S. Smith (Car), H. Nicks and Portis.

You start Romo, every time in this spot. Sunday night football against a division rival.
 Cutler had 6 TDs against Det last year. Bears scored 40+ points on Det last year at Soldier Field.

How were the ravens against the run last year? My memory could be faulty but I think benson was the only guy that had good games?

Jets OLine is the best run-blocking line in all of football. Look no further than the stats of Thomas "I do nothing above average" Jones from last year as proof.

You start the Jets starting RB vs. any opponent and don't think twice about it.

DeAngello Williams for Tim Hightower
Likewise. A Dynasty league, so I am more interested in his future, but until we actually see Stewart doing something, he will not see my starting lineup.I am actually starting BOTH Wells and hightower in that league. Against the Rams, I expect at least 1 of them to go off.EDIT: Rather, Jonathan Stewart is the one I am benching. I don't see how anyone could bench Williams for Hightower...

#1 in ypc with 3.4 vs the league avg of 4.2 and 5th in ypg with 93 vs a league avg of 116. For folks to act like Greene is going to run over the Ravens I just don't see it.

Starting Jahvid Best over Ray Rice. Also Hakeem Nicks over Steve Smith (CAR) but Steve Smith isn't exactly a high draft pick.

Took Flacco in rd 7 and benching him this week for Alex Smith going against Sea

Not a very big reach but benching Lee Evans for either Gaffney or Jacoby Jones. Haven't decided which one yet.

FBG has Greene the #7 RB this week v. BAL
Jets OLine >>> Any opponent they play including their own defense if they could.
For a guy that doesn't catch many balls and also doesn't have the air attack to keep Baltimore honest this seems absurd to me. It certainly got my attention.
Like I said, just check the stats of Thomas "nothing but average" Jones from last year to know all you need to know about the Jets Oline.TJ didn't catch any balls either (10 receptions on the entire season ... less than 1 per game) but rushed for 1,402 yards and 14 TDs.Do you really think Thomas Jones is 1,400+ yard, 14 TD good? Greene (and LT for that matter) are both major upgrades from TJ and the Jets will be able to run the ball vs. any opponent ... including the Ravens.

Yeah because Cutler threw so many picks against Det last year. We got some great sharks here  Week 4 last year: 141 yds passing; 3 total TDs (2 passing; 1 rushing)Week 17 last year: 276 yards passing; 4 TDs

Mike Martz’ offenses always lead the league in sacks against. He gets his QB’s murdered. And the Lions front 4 last year did not have Ndamukong Suh or Kyle Vanden Bosch. I promise you the Lions front 4 will get sacks galore this season (or at least keep QBs under constant pressure), and Cutler will be one of the guys they ring up the most.If you think you can just apply Cutler's stats last year vs. the Lions to this year vs. the Lions, without taking into account that he is running a different offense than he was last year against a much improved Lions defense from last year, well then you aren't nearly as much of a "shark" as you thought you were.

No need to roll your eyes. Unless you're 12. You're not 12, are you?Anyway, my reply to you is that while Cutler did indeed have very good stats vs. Det last year, this is not last year. Cutler is in a totally new offense and looked pretty putrid in the preseason. If I didn't have Romo, I would consider Cutler over guys like Kolb, Flacco, or Palmer. No need to bench a guy you likely took in the 3rd round for a guy like Cutler.

Sitting Lesean Mccoy for Arian Foster. Not happy starting two rookie backs this week (Foster and Jahvid Best), but it's better than watching Mccoy trying to run through the wall that is GB's run D..

Benching W.Welker for J.Jones, HOU.

The Colts/Texans games have been a fantasy point bonanza since Schaub got to Houston:

Nov 29, 2009: 738 yds, 7 tds

Nov 8, 2009: 760 yds, 4 tds

Nov 16, 2008: 830 yds, 6 tds

Oct 5, 2008: 705 yds, 6 tds

Dec 23, 2007: 757 yds, 7 tds

Sept 23, 2007: 616 yds, 5 tds

I want at least a small slice of that pie while I wait to see how Welker is being utilized.

Good Luck with Martz and Marinelli. You sound pretty confident in their coaching skills.

I listed 3 RBs across the title but it could be any position. Let's define top pick as anyone in the 1st 5-7 rounds that you planned on being a frontline starter when you drafted them. QB: Matt Ryan seems like a guy to keep on the bench this week. RB: Greene, Wells, and JStew...don't know how you can start those guys with a lot of confidence. WR: Anquan Boldin-that thud you hear in the distance is his value dropping and then add in the Jets week 1.
Why is Boldin's stock dropping? Perhaps Week 1 won't be kind to him, but the signing of T.J. Housmanzdeh won't hurt his value.

I think many owners envisioned 1200 yds and double digit TDs, now I think you might see something more like 850-1000 and 6-7 TDs. He no longer screams anchor for people that took him as their 1st WR off the board.

You see his numbers dropping by as much as 350 yards and 4 TD' because of Housmanzdeh? I think that's a bit of an over-reaction. If Joe Flacco has the year that many people are expecting, I think he'll put up about 1100 yards and about 8 TD's. I never thought of him as a top of the line WR, but he's a very good one.

I have the same decision to make. I leaning towards Cutler for the following reasons:Romo passed for nearly 300 yards the last time he played in DC, but only had 1 TD (week 16 of last year).Dez Bryant won't be a factor yet in this game.Redskins have a decent, but not great, pass defense. Detroit gave up the most 40+ yd pass plays of any team last year.I get bonus for long TD passes, and Chicago is more likely to have those.I essentially see it as a higher risk, higher reward gamble that I'm willing to take....Edited to add: Oh, and the FBG projections agree with my assessment, rating Cutler higher....
