What is Steve Breston's value going forward? (1 Viewer)

Where do you see Steve Breston's value this season? It seems his value in fantasy circles has been creeping up since his 132 yard game Sunday.

With the unfortunate news coming out today that Early Doucet may need to have surgery for a sports hernia combined with Larry Fitzgerald being a little banged up and facing double teams all the time it seems logical that Breston could be in for a pretty solid season.

At this point in time I consider Breston to be a very solid #3 wr with a chance to move up to a #2 starter given the circumstances in Arizona.

Is there any chance he puts up A.Boldin type numbers in Arizona's offense?

Considering his week 1 numbers, I'd say there's a chance. They have totally different play styles though. Breaston's production seems to be more a matter of opportunity rather than elite skills. He does seem to have good hands though and might just have a knack for being in the right place at the right time. I was going to try to "sell high", but he's not really high enough to sell for much so I might as well wait and see.

Yeah, I'm in the same spot. People have been trying to steal him from me since Sunday night.

He's on my WW and tempted to drop TB Mike for him ...

So to answer OP's question. yes he has some great upside potential.

Funny to see this thread because I was offered Breaston stright up for Reggie Bush but I already own Fitz and never could see starting both of them together.

I like his chances to have a nice season. In fact, I picked him on my wavier wire last night over Mark Clayton.

I actually hope Fitz gets healthy fast. Same with Beanie Wells. With both those guys healthy, teams have to game plan for them both. That is where, I believe, Breaston feasts. With guys rotating over to double Fitz and teams worried about screens or dumps to Beanie, the whole middle of the field can be open for Breaston. And that is where I think he does the most damage. He gets the ball on the move in the middle of the field and he can brake some big plays.

I took him over Clayton because Clayton is going to draw the defenses best CB and get the doubles Fitz usually sees. Not sure he's in Fitz's category yet!

Is it possible that Breaston could be the Welker to Fitzgerald's Moss? Obviously Anderson is no Brady, but he seems to be in sync with Breaston after week 1...

All aboard the Stephen Williams train!!
i would have agreed but if breaston continues to produce then i don't seem as fantasy relevant. i think breaston is in the final year of his contract and is playing for his future. couple that with the uncertainty at QB, i think the AZ passing game won't be as robust as it has in the past.

I think he's closer to NYG Steve Smith than Welker.

I don't think Breaston's value increases that much. He may be undervalued in some circles, but I suppose that I've thought of him as a solid WR3, if not better depending on the performance of their QBs, all throughout the preseason. His Week 1 production was great, but you can't expect him to continue posting numbers like that.

A couple things that I think are noteworthy for Breaston. He caught 100% of his targets (7 of 7). That seems to indicate a good rapport with Anderson. It also indicates that Anderson is more comfortable or perhaps better at throwing the passes for Breaston's route as opposed to Fitz (who caught a miserable 3 of 15 targets). Of course, many of those passes were in the vicinity but not on the money, and Fitz runs more intermediate and downfield routes compared to Breaston. Getting back to Breaston, we cannot expext a similar % of targets to be caught going forward. It's just not reasonable.

That said, I think Breaston will remain productive, if not inconsistent. As Anderson goes, so will the Cardinals WRs.

Lastly, if any of the Cardinals WRs benefit from Doucet's absence it is most likely going to be Stephen Williams, who is now elevated to the No. 3 spot. Given his physical size and skills, I wouldn't be surprised to see Breaston move inside to the slot when they go to 3 WR formations with Williams and Fitz outside.

Breaston is in a contract year, too, whis is good, but a kid like Williams has proven to be hungry as well. I mean as an undrafted rookie free agent, he's playing for a contract, too.

Good discussion..

Breaston does have elite speed; he's faster than Steve Smith NYG and Welker. I think of Breaston as a speed WR that can actually catch the ball and run a route, unlike the Bernard Berrian's of the world.

To me, no more than a WR3. Fitz is the man when he gets healthy again...and when Beanie gets healthy again, I expect AZ to run it a lot more....a healthy dose of Beanie and Hightower. Breaston could have a couple of nice games, but I would expect a lot of inconsistency from game to game.

I think he's a wr3 with Fitz in the lineup. He's not going to see the field more/less with Doucet out. I expect more of Stephen wiiliams. Only real impact of Doucet injury IMO
