What is the best time for a Trade Deadline? (1 Viewer)

Title speaks for itself.

What is the consensus best week to impose the trade deadline?

Obviously you dont want it too early such that it inhibits teams from improving their sides too early in the season, and you dont want it too late such that teams may be out of the playoff hunt and may dump their roster onto someone else....

Clearly the best case scenario would be that you wouldnt have to worry about teams in your league colluding and thus wouldnt need to have a trade deadline but my league does tend to have a cheater or two, so looking for some advice.

Thanks

Not sure the reasoning, but we go with Nov. 24th. It's always worked pretty well, most teams still have a shot at that point.

Of course we've only had one shady member in the past, so maybe this is our year.

We have two trading deadlines.

Unlimited trading deadline is Week 8 of the NFL season

Weeks 9 and 10 you can trade only with teams that are 3 places away from you in the standings. For example the 5th place team can only trade with the teams in 2nd through 8th place.

No trades are allowed after Week 10.

In our 13 game schedule, we cut off trades prior to the first NFL game of week 8. With six games remaining, few teams are out of it at that point.

Three weeks before the end of your regular season. Just enough time that most teams are still in it, but enough time to make them think twice about dumping players to the waiver wire and screwing up the pool. And if your commissioner has veto power this shouldn't be a big issue anyway.

We stop league wide trading after the kickoff to week 9. For week 10 and 11 we break the league into two groups based on record (top 6 and bottom 6) and you can only trade within your group. These groups are reseeded after the conclusion of each week. That allows the playoff teams to trade with playoff teams and the non-playoff teams to try to load up for the final push to the playoffs.

I think a little after week 10 games is a time for a good trade deadline. By then all byes are over and done with and teams will be making that final push into playoff positioning.

Week 11 in a 13 week season with the stipulation that any team that is out of playoff contention cannot trade with a team in playoff contention. Playoffs are week 13 - 16.

The week before or just after 50% of the games are completed.13 game season = week 6 or 714 game season = week 7
Can't go wrong with Halloween as a trade deadline.

My league has always had the first Sunday in November as the trade deadline. Never had any problems.

opted for no trade deadline.. well, I should say, deadline is before the kickoff of the playoffs (week 15) for the purpose of encouraging trading.. this is a dynasty league. Anyone have experience with this format?
