ETA: just remembered - if somebody can find and post the play-by-play game log...was this 2005?...there was something quirky about the last kneel down, like they needed a couple extra seconds off, and IIRC Grossman danced around before taking a knee. So it ended up being a (-4) play instead of the typical (-2), and that was the difference in our matchup.

Thanks, GB.

I've had two tough ones where I swung to a loss on the final play of the game.

1) I lost on the final play on Monday night of week 1 in 2007, when Alex Smith, my starting QB (don't ask), kneeled down to lose a yard on the final play of the game.

2) I lost week 12 in 2002 when Steve McNair, my QB, couldn't score from the 1 on a QB sneak against the Ravens on the last play of the game. This one was particularly painful if you recall the circumstances of the game. The Ravens were ahead by 1 with time running out. A McNair pass resulted in a tackle at the Ravens' 1 yard line. With no timeouts and fewer than 10 seconds on the clock, the Titans raced up to the line for one more play. They snapped the ball and McNair dove into the end zone to score the apparent game-winning TD (both for the Titans and for my fantasy team). In fact, the live scoring app on SportsLine updated and showed that I had, indeed, won my game. However, the refs conferred and took the TD off the board. The reason? While hurrying to get back to the Ravens' side of the ball before the final snap, Peter Boulware touched the back of one of the Titans' lineman who had already set. That's an encroachment penalty, so the play was actually dead before it began, and the Titans didn't have the opportunity to decline. SportsLine wiped away my win. Tennessee ran one more play from inside the one -- another McNair sneak -- and it was stopped.

A couple years back going into a MNF game late in the season, I am up by 8 with my opponent out of players and me with my kicker, Robbie Gould. Only Robbie Gould and time between me and the playoffs. Gould goes on to miss 4 (4!!!!!) FG's @ -3 pts per, I lose, miss the playoffs. To make matters worse I had high score for the playoffs and championship. I maintain to this day if I ever see Gould in person I will kick him square in the junk.
Not to be a stickler, but I'm a pretty avid Bears fan and couldn't remember a time where Gould would have done this in his career, which has been pretty short so far. So I went ahead and checked up on it, and not only has Robbie Gould never missed 4 field goals in a game, he's only missed 2 field goals in a single game once, and that game he also kicked 6 of 6 XP's. Seems like you must have mixed something up here. :lmao:
Gonna have to go review league history, case of mistaken identity maybe. *hides*

Guess Im just an idiot with a poor memory. :bag: It was tied going into the game, bench points would have won it for me, -4 for missed FG inside of 40, -3 for 40+. -1 total points. Lost game. Missed playoffs. I do recall calling the commish before the game to see if I could roll with no K, but that would have rendered a 0 for incomplete lineup.

Someone has told the story every year at the draft since then, guess it grew a bit. Sorry, I suck.
